The cheapest Palworld server that is still good is not necessarily the plan with the lowest monthly number. Start with the resources Pocketpair lists for a dedicated server—16 GB of memory and four CPU cores—then compare the complete recurring cost, server location, backups, update handling, and cancellation terms. An 8 GB plan may boot, but Pocketpair warns that it has a higher risk of out-of-memory crashes.
No current evidence supports naming one host as the universal cheapest or most reliable choice. A low-cost plan is sensible only when its allocated resources and service terms match your group’s online activity.

A hosting plan has value when it keeps the world available without forcing you to solve hardware, networking, patching, and recovery problems yourself. The advertised player-slot count is only one part of that equation. Two plans can both claim 16 or 32 slots while providing different memory limits, CPU shares, storage speeds, backup policies, regions, and renewal prices.
Use the official requirements as a warning line, not as a promise that every group needs exactly the same allocation. Pocketpair’s Palworld Server Guide 0.5.0 lists the following baseline:
#1 Best Overall
- Officially licensed Palworld merch. Join the hunt and capture all the creatures in this open world survival video game. Weaponize your creatures or put them to work in this unique collecting game.
- Perfect graphic apparel for fans of Video Games, Creature Collecting, Open World Games, Cute Animals, Funny Games, and Pocketpair.
- Lightweight, Classic fit, Double-needle sleeve and bottom hem
| Resource or setting | Pocketpair’s guidance | What to check in a hosting plan |
|---|---|---|
| Memory | 16 GB listed for the server; 8 GB can boot but increases the possibility of out-of-memory crashes | How much RAM is actually allocated to your instance, and whether it is shared or guaranteed |
| CPU | Four CPU cores | Whether the provider specifies dedicated or shared cores and any CPU limits |
| Storage | Faster SSD storage is recommended | SSD or NVMe storage, plus the disk space reserved for saves, logs, and updates |
| Network port | UDP port 8211 is the default and can be changed | Whether the port is open, configurable, and protected by the provider’s firewall |
| Guide version | Requirements page version 0.5.0 | The game and server version the host currently supports |
These figures describe Pocketpair’s official server environment. They are not a verified player-count-to-RAM formula for every workload, mod set, or provider.
How to compare the real cost
Calculate the recurring total
Record the billing interval, tax, currency conversion, setup charge, renewal price, and cancellation rules. A monthly introductory price can become poor value if it renews annually at a higher rate or adds a mandatory setup fee. Also check whether a “monthly” term means a calendar month, 30 days, or a minimum commitment.

Ask for the exact RAM allocation and CPU policy. “Up to 32 players” does not establish that the instance has enough memory for your world. A provider should state whether memory is reserved for your server, burstable, or shared with other customers. If the listing gives only slots and no resource figures, treat that as missing information rather than assuming a generous allocation.
Choose a nearby region
Select a data-center region close to most players. Physical distance affects latency, but the available provider listings do not supply comparable latency tests, so do not treat a region list as a performance guarantee. If the host offers a trial or refundable period, use it to test connection quality at the times your group normally plays.
Inspect backups and restore controls
Confirm whether backups are automatic, how many generations are retained, where they are stored, and whether you can restore a single world without opening a support ticket. A host that says “backups available” without specifying frequency or retention leaves your save at risk. Downloadable save files are valuable because they let you move to another provider or self-host later.
Check updates and support scope
Ask how quickly the service applies Palworld server updates, whether updates can be scheduled, and what happens when an update breaks a world or configuration. Read the support scope: some plans cover only infrastructure, while others help with server settings and restores. No comparative uptime or support-quality result has been established, so rely on current terms and recent service reports rather than marketing adjectives.
A dated price example—not a universal winner
On July 11, 2026, BESTNET-GSERVER announced Palworld hosting from ¥980 per month before tax, or ¥1,078 including tax. The announcement describes no minimum term or cancellation fee, plans ranging from 8 to 32 player slots, varying RAM allocations, and NVMe storage. Those are the provider’s own claims for a Japanese service announcement, not an independently verified capacity or a global cheapest-price record. Read the original announcement and confirm current checkout terms before relying on the figure.
| Published claim | Stated value | Qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Starting monthly price | ¥980 before tax | Announcement dated July 11, 2026; availability and renewal price can change |
| Price including tax | ¥1,078 | Japanese tax-inclusive figure in the announcement |
| Contract terms | No minimum term or cancellation fee | Provider-announced terms; verify the current order page |
| Plan range | 8–32 player slots | Slot range does not independently prove sustainable concurrent capacity |
| Storage | NVMe on the described plans | Confirm the exact plan and allocated disk space |
Because this example is priced in yen and tied to one region, compare it with local offers only after converting taxes, currency, renewal prices, and included features on the same basis.

A 15-minute pre-purchase check
- Write down your workload. Estimate your usual and peak concurrent players, how often the world remains online, and whether the group creates large save files or runs frequent events. Do not turn this into a supposedly official RAM formula.
- Open the full plan terms. Capture the price at checkout, billing cycle, tax treatment, renewal amount, setup charges, refund window, and cancellation process.
- Confirm allocated resources. Record RAM, CPU cores or limits, storage type, storage capacity, and any fair-use language. Reject listings that provide only a slot number if you need a predictable resource envelope.
- Check the region. Choose the nearest practical location for the majority of players and ask whether moving regions later is possible without losing the save.
- Read backup details. Find the schedule, retention count, restore method, and whether you can download the world files yourself.
- Review update handling. Look for automatic or scheduled updates, maintenance notices, rollback options, and instructions for preserving a save during a version change.
- Test support before paying long term. Ask one specific pre-sales question about resources or restores. The clarity and accuracy of the answer reveal more than a generic “24/7 support” badge.
- Check your exit route. Verify that cancellation does not delete files immediately and that the save can be exported in a standard format.
Renting versus self-hosting
Renting a managed instance
Renting converts the server into a recurring operating expense. The provider supplies the machine, network address, and data-center connectivity; depending on the plan, it may also handle updates, backups, monitoring, and panel controls. You still remain responsible for selecting enough resources, protecting account credentials, checking backups, and understanding the provider’s limits.
Running the server yourself
Self-hosting can avoid a hosting subscription when you already have suitable hardware and a reliable connection. It also transfers every operational task to you: installing the dedicated server, configuring the firewall and router, keeping the machine powered on, applying updates, creating backups, monitoring disk space, and troubleshooting crashes. Your electricity, hardware depreciation, upload capacity, and time are part of the real cost.
Windows and Linux deployment
Pocketpair documents Windows and Linux deployment through SteamCMD in its dedicated-server deployment guide. The exact commands and package steps depend on the operating system and guide version, so follow the current documentation rather than copying an old command sequence. Plan for the official baseline of four CPU cores, 16 GB of memory, faster SSD storage, and UDP 8211 unless you deliberately change the port.
Docker deployment
Pocketpair also publishes an official dedicated-server Docker image and sample Compose files in the Palworld Dedicated Server Docker repository. Pocketpair warns against Docker Desktop on Windows or macOS for this use because limited disk read/write performance can increase the risk of save-data corruption or malfunction. Docker is therefore an option for an appropriately managed Linux environment, not an automatic shortcut for every home server.

Match the plan to your group without overbuying
Small, occasional groups
A small group that starts the server only during scheduled sessions may not need the same capacity as a world that runs continuously. Look for hourly or flexible billing if it is genuinely cheaper after storage and restart charges, and prioritize automatic backups because infrequent owners are less likely to notice a failed save immediately.
Always-on worlds
A persistent world places more emphasis on memory headroom, disk reliability, monitoring, and update procedures. Compare the cost of keeping an instance online for a full month rather than the provider’s shortest advertised interval. Make sure maintenance reboots are announced and that the service can restart the process after a crash.
Larger communities
For a group approaching the plan’s advertised slot limit, ask for evidence of the resource allocation and the provider’s policy when usage spikes. Slot numbers are commercial limits, not a guarantee that every player can connect smoothly during the busiest event. A plan with fewer nominal slots but clearly reserved CPU and memory may be a safer purchase.
Cheap-host problems and practical fixes
- Low headline price, high renewal: save the checkout and renewal figures before ordering; compare the first-year total.
- Slots without resources: request RAM, CPU, and storage details in writing; do not infer them from the slot count.
- Backups that are really snapshots: confirm retention and restore testing, and keep an independent download of important saves.
- Oversold hardware: ask whether CPU and memory are guaranteed or shared and test during peak hours when possible.
- Unclear update timing: check maintenance notices and rollback procedures before a game patch arrives.
- Region mismatch: move to a closer location or choose a host that permits migration without rebuilding the world.
- Immediate deletion after cancellation: export the save before cancelling and verify the provider’s deletion window.
Use provider directories carefully
A community-maintained directory such as the Palworld Wiki.gg server-hosting list can help you discover providers and regions. Its entries can have different update dates and do not establish equivalent performance, support quality, uptime, or included backups. Treat it as a shortlist, then verify each plan’s current terms directly.
Decision framework
- Choose the lowest-cost plan only when it discloses enough RAM and CPU for your intended workload, provides a nearby region, and has recoverable backups.
- Pay more for predictability when the world is always online, several players connect at once, or losing progress would be costly. Reserved resources, NVMe storage, scheduled updates, and tested restores matter more than a small monthly difference.
- Self-host when you already own suitable hardware, can expose and secure the required network port, and are willing to handle updates, backups, and outages yourself.
- Keep shopping when a listing hides memory, CPU policy, renewal price, backup retention, region, or export rights. Missing terms prevent a meaningful value comparison.
Bottom line
There is no defensible market-wide “cheapest” Palworld host from the available evidence. Use Pocketpair’s 16 GB memory and four-core guidance as a caution against ultra-low-resource plans, treat the ¥980 monthly example as a dated regional price rather than a recommendation, and buy only after checking total cost, allocation, location, backups, updates, support, and portability. That process is more reliable than choosing the smallest number on a comparison page.
