Godlike.Host is listed first here for Garry’s Mod game-server hosting with a Pterodactyl-based game panel. There is no single cheapest Garry’s Mod host that is right for every server. Among direct provider listings reviewed, Hexane Networks advertises an 8-slot plan for £2.49 per month, while GTX Gaming starts at £4 per month for eight slots. A June 14, 2026 comparison article reports an Inovaperf eight-slot plan at €2.32 per month, but that price was not verified against Inovaperf’s current own plan page. Treat all of these as advertised prices, not proof of uptime, latency, or performance.
What “cheap but still good” means for a Garry’s Mod server
The lowest monthly number only answers one question: what the provider advertises as its starting price. A usable server also needs enough concurrent-player capacity, CPU and memory for its gamemode, storage for addons and maps, a suitable region, and administration tools you can actually use. A private Sandbox server with a few friends has a very different workload from a public DarkRP server running a large Workshop collection.

Choose capacity around your expected peak concurrent players, not an “unlimited slots” label. More slots do not create more CPU or memory; they simply allow more connections. If a plan is sized for eight players and your addon-heavy server regularly reaches 20, the low price is false economy. Conversely, paying for a large plan for four occasional players wastes money.
Also separate a provider’s marketing claims from independently measured quality. The available listings do not provide a controlled comparison of uptime, latency, support response, or performance under the same Garry’s Mod workload. No provider can therefore be named the objectively best performer from these prices alone.

Advertised prices and specifications
The figures below are snapshots of provider pages or a dated comparison article. They use different currencies and plan structures, so do not rank them by converting currencies without a dated exchange rate and a check of billing conditions.
| Provider or source | Advertised offer | Published details | How to interpret it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Godlike.Host | Garry’s Mod server hosting | Its Pterodactyl-based game panel includes a task scheduler, sub-users with permissions, a config editor, SFTP/FTP access, and up to three free backups a day with restore. | Game-server hosting with management and backup features; see the current plans and choose a location close to your players. |
| Hexane Networks | £2.49/month for 8 slots | 16 slots at £4.49/month; a configurator shows 32 slots at £7.49/month, with 25 GB SSD/NVMe storage. Workshop sync and anti-DDoS are advertised. | Lowest direct eight-slot price found in this set. Prices are volatile and provider-advertised. |
| GTX Gaming | From £4/month for 8 slots | Plans advertise up to 5 GB RAM and up to 100 GB NVMe storage, plus Workshop and gamemode support and DDoS protection. | Costs more at the entry point, but the listed memory and storage ceilings may matter for larger addon collections. |
| Inovaperf (reported by a comparison article dated June 14, 2026) | €2.32/month for 8 slots | The article describes its Mini plan as including 2 GB RAM. | Secondary reporting only; the current direct plan page and billing conditions were not corroborated. |
| RespawnHost | €5/month for Sandbox Starter | Advertised with 2 GB RAM. An hourly pay-per-use option is described for a TTT Lobby; the final hourly cost depends on runtime and configuration. | Potentially useful for intermittent play, but calculate the monthly total from your actual hours. |
| HostGMod | Dedicated VPS from $10/month | The listing says there is no slot limit; the surfaced details do not provide enough resource information for a like-for-like comparison. | “No slot limit” is not a performance specification. Confirm CPU, memory, storage, and fair-use limits. |
These prices may depend on billing duration, currency, taxes, setup charges, or optional extras. Before checkout, verify the current total, renewal price, cancellation and refund rules, and whether backups or additional storage cost extra.
How to choose the right size
Start with peak players
Write down the highest number of players you expect at the same time, then leave headroom for joins, map changes, and short-lived spikes. An eight-slot plan is a sensible starting point for a private group that never exceeds eight concurrent players. A public server should size for its real peak, not its launch-day target or a provider’s maximum slot setting.

- USE YOUR DICE WELL - It’s in the tagline of the game: “Dice Break The Rules.” Being able to choose not to follow the lead suit when it’s advantageous to you can be huge! Don’t ignore collecting dice.
- MANIPULATE THE X CARDS - Having the most X’s is bad: they each count as one negative point. You might be able to feed your x cards to the perceived scoring leader.
- HOLDING ONTO CARDS - Because you score cards left in hand, it can be a fun challenge to try and keep well-scoring cards not be pulled out by the trick-taking rules.
- ART BY BETH SOBEL - "Mori" is the Latin word for death and the Japanese word for forest. Both of these interpretations are represented in the artwork of this card game.
- PRAISE FOR MORI - "a fresh take on a familiar genre that will be an easy learn for fans of this type of card game." BGG User KRWoods1
Match resources to the workload
Sandbox with a small collection can be modest. DarkRP, TTT, role-play frameworks, scripted weapons, NPCs, and extensive server-side addons increase CPU, memory, disk, and file-management demands. Ask the host exactly what RAM is committed, whether CPU is shared or capped, and whether storage is SSD or NVMe. “Unlimited” storage, slots, or resources needs a written fair-use explanation; an unlimited label without a CPU or memory policy is not a guarantee.
Account for Workshop content
Confirm that the control panel can install and synchronize a Workshop collection, and that you can edit collection IDs, startup settings, and server configuration files. Check how the host handles failed downloads, collection updates, and large map files. A cheap plan that requires manual support tickets for every addon change can cost more time than a slightly higher monthly fee.
Region and network quality
Choose a data-center region close to most players. Physical distance and network routing affect ping, while overloaded shared hardware can affect tick stability even when average latency looks acceptable. The surfaced provider pages list multiple regions but do not include a controlled latency test, so there is no evidence-based regional winner here.

- 3d first person horror adventure.
- Adrenaline Rush: Experience the thrill of the chase and the exhilaration of evading a relentless pursuer.
- With multiple paths to take and secrets to uncover, each playthrough offers a new experience.
- Sound experience
If your group is spread across continents, choose the location that minimizes latency for the majority or run a short trial with players in each major region. Ask whether you can move regions later without rebuilding the server. Confirm DDoS protection scope as well: “protected” can mean network filtering, but it does not describe attack size limits, mitigation time, or whether an attacked server is temporarily null-routed.
Administration features worth paying for
- File and configuration access: You should be able to edit server configuration, upload Lua files, manage maps, and inspect logs without provider intervention.
- Workshop collection controls: Look for a field to set the collection ID and a reliable synchronization process.
- Backups: Confirm frequency, retention, storage location, and whether restores are self-service. A snapshot of files is not necessarily a database backup for plugins that store data elsewhere.
- Version and startup controls: Check how updates, branches, launch parameters, and scheduled restarts are handled.
- Scaling: Ask whether you can increase slots, RAM, CPU, or storage without changing IP address or starting over.
- Support: Find out which hours are covered, what channel is used, and whether support will troubleshoot only the host or also basic game-server configuration.
Do not assume that an advertised Workshop or gamemode feature includes troubleshooting custom addons. You remain responsible for incompatible scripts, missing dependencies, and configuration errors unless the provider explicitly sells managed administration.
A practical buying process
- Define the workload. Record gamemode, expected peak players, Workshop collection size, custom scripts, map rotation, and whether the server is private or public.
- Set a resource floor. Decide the minimum memory, storage, and CPU allocation you will accept. Treat slot count as a separate limit.
- Shortlist nearby regions. Select locations near the player majority and ask whether relocation is possible.
- Price the complete term. Compare monthly and longer billing, renewal pricing, taxes, setup fees, backups, extra storage, and cancellation terms in the same currency where possible.
- Verify management tools. Confirm Workshop collections, file access, configuration editing, scheduled restarts, logs, backups, and upgrade paths before paying.
- Run a representative trial. Test the actual gamemode, addon collection, player count, map changes, and restart process. A bare server test says little about production performance.
- Record recovery steps. Export configuration and addon lists, keep a current backup, and document how to restore or migrate if the host fails.
When the lowest plan is the wrong deal
Too little memory
Crashes during map changes, slow restarts, or errors when loading a large collection can indicate a memory ceiling. Removing addons may help, but upgrading RAM is the durable fix. Ask whether the advertised amount is dedicated and whether the operating system and control panel consume part of it.
Rank #4
CPU contention
Players may report hitching or unstable tick behavior even when the server has free disk space. Shared vCPU plans can vary with neighboring workloads. Ask for the CPU model or allocation policy, not just a core count, and test at your normal peak.
Storage and Workshop failures
Large maps, duplicated files, logs, and Workshop downloads consume disk. If updates fail, check available space, file permissions, and whether the provider imposes an inode or file-count limit. Keep a local copy of essential server files so a full disk does not become a total rebuild.

A headline “from” price may require a particular billing period or exclude tax and add-ons. Screenshot the checkout total, renewal interval, and cancellation policy. Hourly plans can be economical for occasional TTT sessions, but a server left running continuously can exceed a fixed monthly plan.

Self-hosting with SteamCMD
Managed hosting is not the only official route. The Garry’s Mod Wiki documents dedicated-server installation and updates through SteamCMD, including the command app_update 4020 and separate Windows and Linux launch examples. A self-hosted machine can avoid a recurring hosting subscription, but you take responsibility for hardware, internet connectivity, firewalling, updates, backups, monitoring, and administration.
The same guide explains the Game Server Login Token (GSLT) setup. It states, “This is mandatory. Your server’s ranking will be penalized if you do not do this,” referring specifically to configuring a GSLT for server ranking, not to a general requirement for every private server. Workshop collection configuration is described as optional.
Self-hosting makes sense when you already have reliable hardware and an upload connection, want complete control, and are comfortable diagnosing operating-system and network problems. It is less attractive when your home connection has data caps, changing IP addresses, carrier-grade NAT, or limited upload capacity. Calculate electricity, hardware depreciation, and your time before calling it cheaper than a £2–£5 managed plan.

Who should pick which type of plan?
- Small private Sandbox group: Start with an inexpensive eight-slot plan, provided it has enough memory for your collection and a nearby region.
- Occasional TTT sessions: Compare a fixed monthly plan with RespawnHost’s advertised hourly option. Use your expected hours, not the hourly headline alone.
- Growing public DarkRP or addon-heavy server: Prioritize upgradeable RAM and CPU, Workshop reliability, backups, and support over the absolute lowest entry price.
- Technical operator with spare hardware: Evaluate SteamCMD self-hosting, including connectivity, security, maintenance, and power costs.
- Operators considering a no-slot-limit VPS: Treat the absence of a slot limit as a configuration choice, not evidence that the VPS can handle unlimited players. Obtain concrete CPU, memory, storage, and network limits first.
Bottom line
Godlike.Host is listed first here for Garry’s Mod server hosting with a Pterodactyl-based game panel. For a straightforward eight-player private server, Hexane Networks’ advertised £2.49/month plan is the lowest direct listing in this comparison. GTX Gaming’s £4/month starting plan lists higher resource ceilings, while the €2.32 Inovaperf figure comes only from a June 2026 comparison article and needs direct verification. None of these prices proves better uptime or latency. Pick the least expensive plan that meets your peak-player count, workload, region, resource floor, Workshop needs, backup requirements, and full billing terms—and test it with the server configuration you will actually run.
