These are different currencies, regions and capacities, so neither proves a universal worldwide winner.
“Still good” means more than the smallest number on a pricing page. The host must support your platform, fit your concurrent player count, offer a location close to most players, provide the mod and configuration controls your group needs, and have workable backups, protection and support. Because the plans are not like-for-like, the fairest comparison normalizes four things: platform, slots, billing period and location. A low displayed figure for eight players is not cheaper in practice if your group regularly needs 20 concurrent slots, and a plan in the wrong region can produce a worse experience even when its monthly price is lower.

What “still good” should mean for DayZ
A cheap DayZ server is useful only if it clears several practical tests.
- Platform fit: PC/Steam and console hosting are separate decisions. Do not assume a PC plan accepts console players.
- Enough concurrent slots: Buy for the number of people who play at the same time, not for the largest capacity shown in a catalog.
- A nearby location: The host should offer a data-center location reasonably close to most of your players. A location list does not guarantee a particular player’s ping.
- Required administration: If you use community maps or mods, you need the relevant Workshop or mod installer, file access and configuration editing.

Pick the right platform before comparing prices
PC and Steam
The listed GTX Gaming offer is PC-oriented. PC groups should verify the game version, Steam integration and the management tools included with the exact plan, and should not treat a PC listing as a console option.
Console
Bohemia Interactive’s private-console-server FAQ identifies Nitrado as the private-console server hosting partner and says players can customize the experience “to a certain extent” while keeping the game close to the vanilla concept. That makes platform confirmation essential: a console group should use the console selection on the provider page and verify that the chosen region and slot count are available before checkout.
Mixed groups
Do not purchase a PC server expecting console players to join it, or combine platform requirements based only on a provider’s general DayZ branding. Treat PC/Steam and console as different products unless the provider explicitly shows support for your platform.

How many slots do you actually need?
Slots represent simultaneous players. The offers documented here range from 8 to 60, but capacity alone does not tell you how well a server will perform. Start with your real peak, then leave room for occasional guests rather than paying for a capacity your group will not use.
Small private group
An eight-slot plan is the lowest-cost US starting point directly evidenced in the listings. It suits a group whose normal maximum is below eight and who accepts that a ninth player cannot join without changing plans.
Ten-player group
A ten-slot configuration gives a two-player buffer over an eight-person group. Nitrado lists a 10-slot US option, while GTX Gaming lists 10 PC slots on its UK page. Compare those plans only after converting the currency and checking the location and billing term.
Twenty or more players
GPORTAL lists 20- and 60-slot US configurations. These are not evidence that a larger server is automatically faster or more reliable; they simply provide more admission capacity. Check whether your chosen game settings and mods are supported at the selected size.

Location and latency: the check that price pages cannot answer
Choose a location close to the majority of players, then test from the players’ actual internet connections if the provider exposes a test address or allows a refundable trial. A provider’s list of locations demonstrates availability, not the ping each household will receive. Players spread across the US, UK and continental Europe may need to decide whose latency matters most rather than seeking one “best” location.

Before subscribing, confirm that the plan lets you edit the server configuration files and restart the service when a mod requires it. Ask support how a failed mod update is rolled back and whether configuration changes are included or treated as an add-on. A cheap plan that hides the files your group needs can cost more in time than a slightly higher monthly rate.

Vanilla versus customized play
