The cheapest CS 1.6 host depends on how many players you need, where they connect from, and what the advertised price actually includes. In page observations dated October 13, 2026, offers ranged from €1.50 for a selected six-slot ServerProject configuration to KGB Hosting’s advertised €0.40 per slot in Frankfurt; those are different price bases, not a direct comparison. Compare current plans against the alternatives below: prices are not directly comparable, and there has been no comparative ping or uptime testing.

What makes a cheap CS 1.6 server “still good”?

A low entry price is useful only if the plan works for your group. Before choosing, make sure you can get an available server location close to the players, enough slots for the match, and the customization needed for your maps, plugins, and game mode. Then compare the full billing terms and what the provider says it includes for protection, backups, and support.

“Good” cannot be established from a price list alone. No comparative latency, uptime, or support-response tests are available for the providers in this guide. Treat listed specifications and protections as provider statements, not proof of performance. A plan can be inexpensive and still be a poor fit if the closest location is unavailable or it does not support your setup.

CS 1.6 server-hosting options and observed prices

The figures below were observed on provider or comparison pages on October 13, 2026. Prices use different currencies and billing bases, so do not rank them by the headline number alone. Confirm the configuration, location, tax, and amount due in the provider’s current selector or checkout before paying.

Option Observed price and basis What the provider or comparison says What to check
ServerProject €1.50 for a displayed six-slot, 30-day configuration; the provider says displayed prices include VAT. The observed selector offered Poland or France. Listed features include DDoS protection, a management panel, HLTV/public demo archive, auto fast download, backups, crash recovery, and a free database. Verify that the selected slots and location suit your group. The €1.50 figure is the observed configuration, not a verified general starting price.
KGB Hosting Advertised from €0.40 per slot in Frankfurt and €0.60 per slot in Zagreb. The selector showed 12 slots. The page lists mod support, HLTV, anti-cheat compatibility, custom maps, instant setup, and DDoS protection. Work out the total for the desired slot count and confirm availability. Belgrade was marked unavailable on the observed page, which advised choosing Zagreb.
Nitrous Networks Protected plans from £4.50 per month for 10–64 players. The page lists unlimited RAM, DDoS protection, free mod installation, free MySQL, and several network locations. It says UK prices include VAT at 20%. Select the actual player count and location; the starting price does not establish the price of every configuration.
1up Servers Advertised from €2.99 for a 24/7 server. The provider explicitly labels the service beta and says its server image may change without notice. Its described setup is Valve’s HLDS with the cstrike mod, opening on de_dust2 for 16 players; the provider estimates about 150 MB memory and under 1 GB of files. Decide whether a beta service and possible image changes are acceptable for your server.

How to read the comparison

ServerProject’s €1.50 is a six-slot configuration for 30 days, while KGB’s figures are per slot and its observed selector showed 12 slots. Multiplying a per-slot figure by a desired slot count is a useful first check, but the final payable total and availability still need confirmation in the current checkout. Nitrous Networks quotes a monthly starting point for a range of player counts, and 1up’s offer has an explicit beta caveat. These are not like-for-like plans.

Compare current plan details with your needs rather than assuming a listed feature means the lowest cost: no price comparison is established for current CS 1.6 plans, and no provider was tested against another for speed or reliability.

How to choose the right plan without overpaying

1. Start with the actual player count

Write down how many players need to be online at once, not just how many friends are in the group. Match that number to the plan’s included slots. A cheaper plan with fewer slots may be enough for occasional matches; it is not a bargain if players cannot join. The observed providers show why the plan basis matters: ServerProject’s displayed configuration had six slots, KGB priced per slot, and Nitrous Networks advertised plans for 10–64 players.

2. Choose location based on where players are

Pick a data center that is practical for the people who will use the server. A geographically closer location is a sensible starting point, but distance and a low price do not prove the ping players will see. Check which locations can actually be selected, then test expected ping from the players’ usual regions if the host or server setup permits it. KGB’s observed page, for example, listed Frankfurt and Zagreb pricing but marked Belgrade unavailable; a location name on a marketing page is not enough if it cannot be ordered.

3. Confirm mod, map, and file access before checkout

Make a short list of what the server must run: AMX Mod X or other plugins, custom maps, a particular game mode, or a specific configuration. Ask the provider whether those are supported and how you install or change them. Check whether its control panel or file access gives you the control you need. KGB lists mod support and custom maps, while Nitrous Networks lists free mod installation. These are useful starting claims, but they do not establish compatibility with every plugin or map you may want.

4. Compare the complete cost

Record the total for the same slot count and billing period, including currency, tax, any promotion, and the renewal amount. Do not compare a per-slot price with a monthly plan total as though they were equivalent. ServerProject’s observed amount was gross and included VAT; its page said renewal would be no more than the purchase amount before discount codes. Nitrous Networks said its UK prices included 20% VAT. Those terms are specific to the observed pages, so confirm the current checkout and renewal conditions for the plan you select.

5. Decide what protection and recovery you need

If the server will be public, ask what DDoS mitigation is included and what happens if the server crashes or data needs restoring. Check whether backups are automatic, how often they are made, and whether you can restore them yourself; those details are not established by a generic “backups included” claim. ServerProject lists backups and crash recovery, and KGB and Nitrous Networks list DDoS protection. These are descriptions of provider offerings, not independently verified outcomes.

6. Check support and the limits of available evidence

Find out how to contact support, when it is available, and whether it can help with server configuration or only account and billing problems. A provider’s support or uptime claims do not establish actual response times or service availability. The available comparisons do not include hands-on support tests, so do not treat a feature list as an independent service-quality score.

What an independent comparison adds—and what it does not

TopServer.Network’s October 2026 comparison reported EUGameHost at $4.09 per month billed in GBP as the lowest confirmed starting price among the four hosts it compared, followed by GTXGaming at $5.94 and Streamline Servers at $6.94. Those are the comparison publisher’s findings, not independently verified current checkout quotes or performance tests. Its reported prices also do not make them directly comparable with euro- or pound-denominated offers above unless the plan configuration, location, tax, and billing terms match.

The comparison’s practical advice is to check slot count or RAM, select a data center near players, verify plugin support, and look for included DDoS protection. Use those as questions to ask of a plan, not as a substitute for checking the actual configuration. A starting-price ranking among a limited set of providers cannot establish the best plan for a particular group.

Atomic Networks is another name to investigate if panel controls matter to you. Its page describes a management panel with a console, file manager, server importing, logs, and resource monitoring, alongside uptime, support, and instant-delivery claims. No comparable CS 1.6 price was established and those service claims were not verified, so it is not a basis for declaring Atomic Networks the cheapest or most reliable choice. Compare its actual plan and terms with the same checklist rather than treating panel features as a performance test.

When the lowest price is not the best choice

  • You need dependable public access: avoid treating a low price as evidence of stability. In particular, 1up Servers labels its €2.99 offer beta and says its server image can change without notice.
  • Your group needs more than a small match: compare the total cost at the required slot count, not the smallest advertised configuration.
  • You need custom content: get confirmation for the exact plugins, maps, and access method before buying rather than assuming general mod support covers your setup.
  • Your players are spread across regions: weigh the available locations against where most players are and verify real ping from their locations instead of selecting solely on price.
  • You value recovery and help: ask about backup restoration and support scope. A listed feature does not tell you how well or quickly an incident will be handled.

The fastest way: a hosted server

If you do not want to install and maintain HLDS yourself, a managed host handles the server environment through a control panel or support team. Check the current plan details, including game-server hosting, setup, a control panel, FTP/SFTP, automatic backups, and support; also confirm whether DDoS protection and a personal firewall are included. Check current CS 1.6 price, slot options, and available location before purchase; do not assume feature availability establishes the lowest total cost.

Other plans may be a better fit if their current slot count, location, or price basis suits your group more closely. ServerProject’s observed six-slot configuration is a concrete low-cost point of comparison, KGB’s per-slot offer makes slot-level arithmetic possible, and Nitrous Networks’ listed range may suit a larger match. 1up’s advertised price is paired with the beta status described above. Choose only after checking the exact configuration and terms for the server you intend to run.

Questions readers ask

Which option is cheapest for a small CS 1.6 server?

The observed ServerProject selector showed €1.50 for a six-slot, 30-day configuration, while KGB advertised €0.40 per slot in Frankfurt and €0.60 per slot in Zagreb. Those figures use different bases. Check the current total for your required slots, location, tax, and renewal terms before deciding which costs less for your group.

Is there a good option for a 10-player match?

Nitrous Networks advertised protected plans starting at £4.50 per month for 10–64 players, but the starting price does not guarantee that every slot count costs the same. Check the selected player count, location, and checkout total. ServerProject’s observed six-slot configuration would not fit a 10-player match without a larger plan.

Does the lowest price mean low ping or stable hosting?

No. Price alone does not establish latency, uptime, or support quality, and this article includes no hands-on tests. Choose an available region near the players, test expected ping from their usual locations where possible, and treat protection, uptime, and support descriptions as provider claims.

Should I choose 1up Servers at €2.99?

Only if the beta caveat fits your needs. The provider says the service is beta and its server image may change without notice. It describes a 16-player HLDS setup opening on de_dust2, with an estimated footprint of about 150 MB of memory and under 1 GB of files; those specifications do not remove the disclosed stability and change risk.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Are these prices still current?

They are dated page observations from October 13, 2026, not guaranteed quotes. Prices, promotions, tax treatment, slot options, and location availability can change. Recheck the current plan selector and checkout before ordering, including renewal terms.

Bottom line

There is no universal cheapest CS 1.6 host: the lowest usable cost is the current price for the slots, location, and features your group needs. Compare like with like, verify availability and renewal terms, and treat listed protections and support as provider claims rather than test results.
