A good low-cost server is not simply the plan with the smallest headline number. It must support your platform and Conan Exiles edition, place the machine near your players, provide enough concurrent slots, and expose the mod, backup, configuration and cancellation controls your group will actually use.

A £10.99 UK monthly plan and a $15.59 Central Europe 30-day plan may both describe 10 slots, but they are not the same transaction. Do not rank these numbers as though they were one currency, one country and one contract. At checkout, compare the same rental duration, tax treatment, currency and server region. A longer term may lower the effective monthly cost while increasing your cancellation risk.
Confirm your platform and Conan Exiles version first
Conan Exiles hosting is version- and platform-specific. Before comparing prices, establish what your group plays:

- Enhanced (UE5) on PC/Steam: GPORTAL states that Enhanced is available on PC through Steam. GTX Gaming says its listed service supports Conan Exiles Enhanced on PC/Steam.
- Legacy: GTX Gaming says it also hosts Legacy servers. GPORTAL says its basic settings allow switching between the original version and the UE5 upgrade; confirm that the exact plan and control panel expose the version you need.
- Console: Do not assume a PC/Steam rental works for Xbox or PlayStation. The displayed GPORTAL Enhanced offer is specifically PC/Steam, so select a plan that explicitly names your console platform if you are not on PC.
Ask support which executable, save format and mod workflow apply to your edition. Moving a world between Legacy and Enhanced, or between PC and console, may not be a simple file copy.
Choose slots by concurrent players, not community size
A slot is a simultaneous player place, not the number of people in your Discord or Steam group. Count the largest number likely to be online during an event or weekend, then leave a small buffer if the next tier is reasonably priced. Do not pay for 60 slots for a group that normally has eight players unless you have a specific event plan.

When 10 slots is enough
A 10-slot plan suits a small private group whose peak attendance stays below ten. It is the entry capacity shown by both GTX Gaming and GPORTAL. Confirm whether reserved admin or spectator connections consume a slot, and check whether adding slots later is possible without rebuilding the server.
When 20 to 30 slots is justified
Choose 20 or 30 slots when your regular peak approaches the 10-slot ceiling or you host occasional group events. GPORTAL displays 20 slots for $22.91 per 30 days; GTX Gaming lists 30 slots at £27.98 per month. These are not equivalent regional or currency quotes, so compare each provider’s checkout total rather than treating the difference as a benchmark.

Large communities, public servers and scheduled events need more headroom. GTX Gaming lists 60 slots at £44.98 per month, while GPORTAL says its server catalogue offers 10–70 slots. Higher capacity can also increase the importance of RAM, CPU allocation, storage and moderation tools; a slot count alone does not establish performance.
What to compare beyond the headline price
Region and expected latency
Choose the data centre nearest the majority of players. GTX Gaming’s guide describes UK and worldwide data-centre options. The GPORTAL prices listed above show Central Europe. A cheaper distant region can produce a worse experience than a slightly more expensive local one, especially for players connecting from another continent. Confirm the actual city or region offered, not just the provider’s company address.
RAM and storage
GTX Gaming says its entry service includes up to 10 GB of RAM and up to 100 GB of NVMe storage. “Up to” is important: verify the allocation attached to the exact 10-slot product and whether storage includes backups, logs and uploaded mods. The inspected GPORTAL price description does not state a comparable RAM or storage figure, so ask before assuming the plans are equivalent.
Mods, maps and configuration
GPORTAL describes mod integration, map changes and configurable parameters, and says players can switch versions in basic settings. GTX Gaming advertises Steam Workshop tools. Confirm whether you can change load order, upload custom files, edit server settings, and restore a previous configuration without opening a support ticket. Ask how mod updates are handled when a game patch releases.

Backups and recovery
GTX Gaming advertises daily automatic backups. Determine how many restore points are retained, where they are stored, whether a manual backup is available before a major mod change, and whether downloading a copy is allowed. A statement that backups exist is not the same as a documented recovery time or tested restore.
Support and network protection
GTX Gaming lists 24/7 support, DDoS protection and an optional 60 tickrate. These are provider claims rather than independent measurements. Ask what support channel is included, what response target applies to a non-outage configuration problem, and whether the tickrate option costs extra or is available on your selected plan.
Billing, cancellation and refunds
GTX Gaming says its monthly billing has no contract or setup fee and lists a 24-hour money-back guarantee. Confirm the guarantee’s exclusions, when the 24-hour clock starts, and whether renewals are refundable. GPORTAL describes rental periods starting at three days, which can reduce the risk of testing a short event, but read the renewal and cancellation wording carefully. A 90-day price may require paying for the entire term even if your group stops playing.
GTX Gaming: the lowest documented UK entry price
The GTX Gaming UK page lists £10.99 per month for 10 slots, making it the lowest clearly documented entry figure in the reviewed pages for a UK reader. The same page lists £27.98 for 30 slots and £44.98 for 60 slots. The accompanying guide was updated 7 October 2026 and attributes its information to founder Matthew Griffin and the UK admin team.
GTX says the service supports Conan Exiles Enhanced on PC/Steam and also hosts Legacy servers. The entry description says up to 10 GB of RAM and up to 100 GB of NVMe storage, with daily automatic backups. It also advertises Steam Workshop tools, optional 60 tickrate, DDoS protection and 24/7 support. These details make the plan worth investigating for a UK-based PC group, but verify the allocation, current price and exact data-centre choice in the order form.
GPORTAL: short rentals and a wider slot range
GPORTAL’s displayed PC offers show 10 slots for $15.59 per 30 days, 20 slots for $22.91 per 30 days and 10 slots for $42.09 per 90 days. Central Europe is shown for those offers. The 90-day figure is a longer commitment, not a like-for-like monthly quote.

HostMyGame’s “Conan Exiles Server Cost: 2026 Price Analysis,” published 27 August 2026, names Minestrator RAM tiers. The comparison warns that prices change, and the provider offer page was not verified here. Use this name as a lead to check directly, not as evidence that it is definitively the cheapest or offers better performance.

Self-hosting can avoid a recurring rental charge when you already have suitable hardware, a stable upload connection and permission to expose the required ports. It is not free in a total-cost sense: hardware depreciation, electricity, bandwidth, backups, operating-system maintenance and troubleshooting still apply, and no complete cost calculation is established here.

- Open Steam’s library tools and install Conan Exiles Dedicated Server.
- Configure the server name, server password and administrator password in the supplied settings.
- Launch

- Forward the required UDP ports on your router. Funcom states that the server listens by default on UDP ports
27015and7777. - Check the Steam server browser and test an external connection. If the server does not appear, recheck firewall rules, router forwarding, the machine’s local address and whether your internet service uses carrier-grade NAT.
Self-hosting gives you direct control over files and settings, but you become the administrator responsible for updates, security, backups, uptime and recovery. For a small group without an always-on PC, the cheapest reliable choice may be a short rental rather than buying hardware solely for the game.
