Godlike.Host is our top pick for Arma 3 server hosting, with a built-in mod installer and updater, up to three free backups a day with restore and free DDoS protection; see the current plans for its price. Among the published 10-slot offers with prices checked on October 13, 2026, Nitrado is the lowest at $16.19 for 30 days, narrowly ahead of PingPerfect at $16.33 per month. Those are advertised examples, not proof of the universally cheapest Arma 3 server. Your checkout total can change with country, currency, taxes, contract length, location, slot count and extras.

The best low-cost choice is the plan that fits your simultaneous players, puts the machine near them and gives you enough CPU, memory, storage, mod controls, backups and protection for your missions. Use the prices below as a dated starting point, then verify the final configuration and renewal terms before paying.

Godlike.Host See the current plans Servers for Arma 3 and more than 40 other games; 10 locations; free DDoS protection and a personal firewall; up to three free backups a day with restore; built-in mod installer and updater; Pterodactyl-based panel with task scheduler and SFTP/FTP access. Confirm the slot count, location and mod tools for your Arma 3 plan on the current plans page, as prices change with region and on-page offers.
Nitrado 10 slots: $16.19 for 30 days
20 slots: $24.99 for 30 days
Multiple locations; mod and plugin installation; configurable duration and slot count; daily backups and DDoS protection are advertised. Confirm the currency, tax, location, renewal price and whether backup or protection terms differ for your selected configuration.
PingPerfect 10 slots: $16.33 per month
20 slots: $34.67 per month
40 slots: $67.78 per month
Advertises about 9 GB of RAM and 100 GB of NVMe storage for the 10-slot tier, hardware tiers, locations, DDoS mitigation and nightly backups. Check that the stated memory, storage, location and any add-ons apply to the exact plan and region in your cart.

Nitrado is the lowest of these dated examples by 14 cents compared with PingPerfect for the listed 10-slot plans. That difference is too small to outweigh a worse location, lower allocation or missing administration feature. Godlike.Host’s price changes with region and on-page offers, so it is not compared like-for-like here; see the current plans and price the same slot count and location as the others.

What “still good” means for an inexpensive server

A low monthly number only answers one question. A usable Arma 3 server must keep missions responsive, let you install and update the content your group uses, and give you a way back after a failed update or corrupted save.

Buy for simultaneous players, not an aspirational maximum

Arma 3 supports a standard listen server and a dedicated server. Bohemia Interactive says, “Arma 3 also supports Dedicated Servers for greater performance.” Its FAQ does not set one universal supported player cap: a reasonable maximum depends on the scenario, server hardware and available bandwidth.

For a group that normally has eight people online, a 10-slot plan leaves little room for guests or a headless client. A 20-slot plan may be sensible if your attendance varies, but more slots do not automatically make a mission run faster. Purchase the smallest tier that covers your real peak and expected growth, then reassess after observing CPU, memory and network use.

Put the data center near most players

Choose a listed location geographically close to the majority of your players. Shorter network paths generally reduce latency, but the location lists and latency displays on provider pages are provider-supplied information, not independent measurements. If players are split across continents, choose the region that serves the largest group or the mission’s usual organizer, and test from several players during the cancellation window.

Match resources to your scenario and mods

Vanilla co-op with a small squad is a lighter workload than a persistent mission with AI, scripts, custom terrain and a large Workshop collection. Compare the provider’s CPU description, allocated RAM, storage type and mod-management tools. The official dedicated-server baseline is not a guarantee of stable performance for a heavily modded operation.

Insist on practical administration tools

File access, configuration editing, Workshop installation, log viewing and controlled restarts save more time than a small price difference. They let you change a mission, remove a broken mod and inspect errors without opening a support ticket for every edit. Confirm whether FTP, a web file manager, a log viewer and scheduled restarts are included or sold separately.

Check recovery and attack protection

Daily or nightly backups and DDoS protection are useful safeguards, but they are vendor-described features rather than independently audited service levels. Find out how many restore points are retained, whether restoration is self-service, and whether a restore costs extra. Ask what “DDoS protection” covers and whether mitigation has bandwidth or duration limits.

Backups are up to three free a day, with restore, which covers the failed-update and broken-mod cases described below. You can upgrade or downgrade from the panel with prorated billing, setup takes minutes after payment, and support is available 24/7 by live chat or ticket. There is a voluntary money-back guarantee on a first purchase within 3 calendar days, which suits a short load test. Price the same slot count and location you used for the other carts and see the current plans for the figure.

Nitrado: lowest listed 10-slot price in this comparison

The captured US-language listing shows 10 slots for $16.19 for 30 days and 20 slots for $24.99 for 30 days. The service exposes multiple locations, configurable duration and slot count, and tools for installing mods or plugins. Daily backups and DDoS protection are advertised.

Use the configurator rather than assuming the 10-slot figure is your final bill. A different locale can show EUR or GBP pricing, and taxes, term length, renewal pricing or optional services can change the total. Before ordering, select the intended region, count the exact slots, open the mod and backup settings, and record the recurring amount shown at checkout.

PingPerfect: similar entry price with a stated resource figure

The captured listing shows $16.33 per month for 10 slots, $34.67 for 20 and $67.78 for 40. It advertises about 9 GB of RAM and 100 GB of NVMe storage for the 10-slot tier, along with hardware tiers, locations, DDoS mitigation and nightly backups.

Those resource figures are useful for comparison, but confirm they belong to the exact Arma 3 configuration you select. Check whether storage or memory changes with a different location, billing period or add-on, and verify the backup retention and restoration process. The 20-slot price is not simply double the 10-slot price, so choose by actual attendance rather than assuming linear scaling.

How to choose the cheapest plan without creating a slow server

  1. Write down your real peak. Count the largest number of players who are online at the same time, not the total members in your community. Add a small margin only if you regularly host guests.
  2. List your workload. Note whether you run vanilla missions, large AI battles, custom terrains, persistence scripts, headless clients or a substantial Workshop collection. This determines how much CPU, memory and storage headroom you need.
  3. Shortlist nearby locations. Eliminate regions that force most players onto a long network path. Ask several players to test latency to the remaining locations if the host supplies an address or trial period.
  4. Compare like with like. Put the same slot count, billing period, location and required add-ons in each cart. Include taxes, setup charges and renewal pricing, not just the headline monthly number.
  5. Verify administration. Confirm Workshop or mod installation, file access, configuration controls, logs, restart scheduling and the ability to change missions without rebuilding the server.
  6. Verify recovery. Read the backup frequency, retention, restore procedure and any fees. Download or otherwise preserve your own configuration and mission files so a provider-side restore is not your only copy.
  7. Test before committing long-term. Run the busiest mission your group actually plays. Watch for desynchronization, script errors, excessive frame time and memory pressure. If the host permits term changes, start with the shortest practical billing period.

Self-hosting versus renting

Renting trades a monthly fee for managed networking, a control panel and provider maintenance. Self-hosting can be inexpensive when you already have suitable hardware and a reliable connection, but it transfers installation, patching, backups, security and troubleshooting to you. Electricity, upload capacity and your time are part of the cost even when no hosting invoice appears.

Bohemia’s FAQ explains that you can create a standard server from the Multiplayer menu and that dedicated servers are supported. A dedicated process is preferable when you want the host to remain online independently of a player’s game session.

Documented dedicated-server baseline

Item Minimum stated by the Bohemia Interactive Community guide Recommended stated by the guide
Operating system Windows Server 2008 or later, or a modern Linux distribution Same supported operating-system families
CPU 2.4 GHz dual-core 3.5 GHz quad-core
Memory 2 GB RAM 4 GB RAM
Storage 32 GB HDD 32 GB SSD
Internet addressing Real public IPv4 connection required Real public IPv4 connection required

The guide warns that an Arma 3 server does not support IPv6 or DS-Lite IPv4 delivered through an IPv6 tunnel. A connection that appears to have an IPv4 address inside your home network may still be behind carrier-grade NAT, so confirm that inbound traffic can reach the server.

Basic self-hosting sequence

  1. Install a supported Windows Server or modern Linux distribution on the machine you will leave online.
  2. Install the dedicated-server files and the required Steam components according to Bohemia’s server documentation.
  3. Assign the machine a stable local address, then forward the server’s required ports from your router and allow them through the operating-system firewall.
  4. Set the server name, password, administrator identity, mission rotation and mod list in the configuration files.
  5. Test from a separate internet connection. A local connection alone cannot prove that your public IPv4 routing works.
  6. Schedule updates and backups, and keep a copy of configuration, missions and mod lists outside the server machine.

The listed minimums are a technical starting point, not a promise that a large modded mission will be smooth. If your provider quote is only a few dollars above your estimated electricity and maintenance cost, managed hosting may be the better value in time and reliability.

Common cheap-hosting pitfalls and fixes

The “monthly” price is not the amount charged

A displayed base price may exclude taxes, longer or shorter billing terms, add-ons or a different renewal rate. Fix this by taking a screenshot or note of the final checkout total, billing interval, currency and next renewal date before confirming payment.

The slot count is right but the location is wrong

A cheap server on another continent can feel worse than a slightly more expensive nearby server. Move the instance to the closest available region, or choose a host with a better regional footprint, after checking the provider’s relocation rules and any fee.

Mods consume the available headroom

Large mod collections increase download, storage and startup demands, while scripts and AI can increase CPU load during play. Remove unused Workshop items, keep server and client mod versions aligned, and test the heaviest mission rather than an empty lobby.

A backup exists but cannot restore what you need

“Daily” or “nightly” does not describe retention or restore time. Confirm the number of restore points and perform a test restore of a non-critical configuration. Keep an independent copy of mission files and server settings.

IPv6-only self-hosting is unreachable

If your ISP supplies DS-Lite or no public IPv4, port forwarding may not work for Arma 3. Request a real IPv4 service, use a network arrangement that provides one, or rent a host that supplies public connectivity.

Practical decision guide

Your situation Most sensible starting point Reason
Up to about 10 regular players, light mods, price is the priority Compare the Nitrado $16.19 and PingPerfect $16.33 10-slot carts The advertised prices are nearly identical; location, included resources and backup terms should decide.
Variable attendance approaching 20 players Price a 20-slot configuration at each provider Do not infer the 20-slot total from the 10-slot price; the published examples scale differently.
Frequent custom missions and hands-on administration Favor the plan with the clearest file, Workshop and log controls Fast content changes and diagnostics can save more time than a small monthly saving.
You already own an always-on machine and have public IPv4 Evaluate self-hosting against electricity and maintenance time Hardware may reduce cash cost, but you assume updates, security, backups and availability.
Large AI battles or heavy mod packs Choose based on stated CPU and RAM headroom, then load-test Minimum specifications and slot counts do not guarantee stable performance for demanding scenarios.

For a good Arma 3 server, start with Godlike.Host, which combines a mod installer, backups with restore and free DDoS protection (see the current plans for pricing). For the narrow question “what is cheapest among these current examples?”, the answer is Nitrado’s advertised 10-slot, 30-day price. For the broader question “what remains good for my group?”, select the lowest final checkout total that also meets your location, resource, mod, recovery and administration requirements. Recheck every figure immediately before ordering because hosting prices, locations and terms can change.
