Put Godlike.Host first on your shortlist: it hosts 7 Days to Die servers in 10 data-center locations (including the United Kingdom), with free DDoS protection, up to three free backups a day with restore, and a Pterodactyl-based panel with a task scheduler, sub-users and a config editor. Its price depends on region and on-page offers, so see the current plans; the price comparison below covers the other listings.

Among the checked listings on October 13, 2026, GTX Gaming’s UK entry plan is the lowest clearly stated monthly tier: £8.80 per month for eight slots and up to 10GB of RAM. Nitrado’s UK listing showed £9.29 for eight slots for 30 days. Those prices use different billing structures and Godlike.Host’s plans change with region and offers, so none proves a universal market-wide winner. The right “cheap but still good” choice is the lowest complete plan for your region, player count, platform, memory needs, mods and backup expectations.

Godlike.Host See the current plans 7 Days to Die servers; free DDoS protection, up to three free backups a day with restore, a built-in mod installer and updater, SFTP/FTP access, and a Pterodactyl-based panel with a task scheduler and sub-users; 10 locations including the United Kingdom. Price varies with region and on-page offers. Provider-published features; confirm crossplay and slot limits with support before buying, and no independent benchmark was run here.
GTX Gaming (UK page) £8.80/month Eight slots, up to 10GB RAM; scheduled off-site backups and DDoS protection are advertised. UK pricing and provider-published claims. The page footer was last updated October 8, 2026; no independent benchmark was found.
Nitrado (UK listing) £9.29 for 30 days at eight slots; £11.59 for 30 days at 10 slots Crossplay support and automated backups are stated. The 2.0 crossplay listing says a maximum of eight slots. The search result redirected when opened, so verify the live configuration and checkout.

For a small UK group that needs eight players and a conventional managed server, the £8.80 GTX tier is the clearest low-price starting point in this comparison. That sentence does not mean it is fastest, most reliable or cheapest in every country. A buyer in another region should enter the same slot count at checkout for each provider and compare the final recurring total in the same currency.

Define “still good” before chasing the lowest price

A server that saves a few pounds but cannot run your world, connect your platforms or recover a damaged save is not a bargain. Write down these requirements first:

  • Concurrent players: Count the largest number online at once, not the number in your Discord group. An eight-slot plan suits a small group only if eight simultaneous connections are enough.
  • Edition and platform: Specify PC, PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S, and whether players need crossplay. Crossplay support is version-specific; do not assume that a PC-only plan accepts console clients.
  • World and mods: A larger map, overhaul mod, extra entities or a heavily explored save can need more memory and storage headroom than a fresh vanilla world.
  • Location: Put the server near most players. Distance and each player’s internet route affect latency more than a provider’s general worldwide location count.
  • Recovery controls: Check backup frequency, retention, download access and the exact restore procedure, rather than accepting “backups included” as a complete specification.
  • Administration: Confirm that the panel exposes configuration files, scheduled restarts, log access, mod installation and permission controls at the tier you are buying.

How the listed prices compare in practice

Godlike.Host: a 7 Days to Die server with ten locations and daily backups

Godlike.Host runs 7 Days to Die servers alongside more than 40 other games. Its locations are US West Coast, US East Coast, Canada, United Kingdom, Germany, France, Poland, Ukraine, Finland and Singapore, so a UK group can pick a nearby site. Free DDoS protection and a personal firewall come with the service, along with up to three free backups a day that can be restored. The Pterodactyl-based panel offers a task scheduler, sub-users with permissions, a config editor, SFTP/FTP access and a built-in mod installer and updater. Support is available 24/7/365 by live chat or ticket, and you can upgrade or downgrade from the panel with prorated billing. There is a voluntary money-back guarantee on a first purchase, within 3 calendar days. Because prices change with region and on-page offers, see the current plans and compare the final total with the other tiers below. These are the provider’s own statements, not results from a side-by-side test.

GTX Gaming: the lowest clearly stated UK monthly tier

The checked UK page lists a Basic plan at £8.80 per month with eight slots and up to 10GB of RAM. It also advertises scheduled off-site backups and DDoS protection. The same page lists higher tiers at £21.55 for 16 slots and up to 12GB RAM, and £31.09 for 30 slots and up to 16GB RAM. Those higher prices matter when a group outgrows eight players: moving from £8.80 to £21.55 is a substantial jump, so do not buy the entry tier solely because it is the cheapest if you already know you need more capacity.

GTX associates its smaller tier with a 6km world and says its service supports PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S crossplay. It advertises 19 worldwide locations, configuration access, mods, support and upgrades. These are the provider’s own feature and capability statements, not results from a side-by-side test. Use a location or ping tool, where available, before committing to a long billing cycle.

Nitrado: close UK pricing, with a stated crossplay cap

The UK search listing showed £9.29 for 30 days at eight slots and £11.59 for 30 days at 10 slots. It specifically mentions crossplay and automated backups. Its 2.0 crossplay listing states a maximum of eight slots, which can be decisive for a console-and-PC group that expects more than eight simultaneous players. Because the listing was crawl-sourced and redirected when opened, treat those figures as a prompt to check the live configuration, taxes, renewal amount and available regions rather than as a guaranteed quote.

Choose a tier by group size and workload

Small vanilla group: up to eight players

Start by pricing an eight-slot plan with at least the resources and controls your world needs. The GTX £8.80 tier is the lowest clearly stated UK option in this set, while Nitrado’s listing is £9.29 for 30 days at the same slot count. For a lightly modded or vanilla world, compare the actual checkout totals, server location and restart controls before deciding on the small price difference.

Ten players or a planned larger community

Nitrado’s listing includes a 10-slot price of £11.59 for 30 days, but its separate 2.0 crossplay entry is capped at eight slots. Confirm that the exact edition and crossplay product you select permits 10 connections. GTX’s 16-slot tier costs £21.55 and lists up to 12GB RAM. Paying for unused slots is wasteful, but migrating an established world after repeatedly hitting a cap can be more disruptive than starting with modest headroom.

Large maps, overhaul mods or 20–30 players

GTX lists 30 slots and up to 16GB RAM at £31.09. More slots do not automatically make a server faster: simulation load, entities, mod code, world activity and backup operations all matter. Ask support whether the advertised RAM is dedicated to your instance, whether storage and CPU allocations change by tier, and how upgrades affect your existing save.

Memory, world size and mod planning

A GTX guide search result reports 8GB RAM as a minimum and 12GB as recommended for the game, attributing those figures to The Fun Pimps’ Steam requirements. The year of that requirement summary was not stated, and the original publisher page was not retrieved, so treat the numbers as guide-reported rather than independently verified current requirements. The same guide says running the game and a dedicated server on one computer doubles the memory requirement; that warning applies mainly to self-hosting, not to a managed instance where the provider runs the server separately.

Use the numbers as planning markers, not guarantees. Ask the host how much RAM is actually assigned, whether it can be increased without moving plans, and whether a mod installer downloads server-side dependencies automatically. Keep a clean backup before adding an overhaul mod or changing world-generation settings; a failed load can require restoring the prior save.

Crossplay checks that prevent an expensive mistake

  1. List every client platform and the game version each player runs.
  2. Read the provider’s exact 7 Days to Die product description, not only a generic “game server” page.
  3. Confirm that crossplay includes your console generation and PC edition, and ask whether the feature is limited to a particular 2.0 product.
  4. Check the slot ceiling. Nitrado’s stated 2.0 crossplay maximum is eight slots; a larger group would need a different product or provider.
  5. Verify whether mods, custom maps and crossplay are compatible together. A mod that works on PC may not be permitted for console clients.
  6. Start with one test connection from each platform before inviting the whole group.

GTX advertises PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S crossplay, but that remains a provider-published capability. Confirm current compatibility at checkout or with support, especially after game updates.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

What to verify at checkout

  1. Set the region first. Select the country and nearest data-center location before comparing prices. A UK headline price may not be the amount charged elsewhere.
  2. Normalize the billing period. Compare 30-day recurring charges with monthly prices, and note whether longer billing cycles receive a discount or create a larger upfront payment.
  3. Choose the same slot count. Do not compare an eight-slot bundle with a per-slot teaser that has a minimum purchase.
  4. Record included resources. Note RAM, storage, CPU policy if disclosed, map-size limits and whether upgrades are immediate.
  5. Inspect taxes and renewal. Write down the final total, currency, tax treatment, renewal date and cancellation rules.
  6. Save the support answer. If crossplay, mods or backups are essential, keep the provider’s written confirmation and the advertised plan name.

Backups, control panels and everyday administration

GTX and Nitrado listings mention backups, but a useful backup policy has four separate details: how often snapshots run, how many are retained, whether you can download them, and whether restoration overwrites the current world or creates a separate copy. Ask those questions before your first long play session.

For routine administration, look for a web console that can stop and start the server, schedule restarts, edit configuration values, upload or install mods, change the world seed and assign staff permissions. Check whether changes require a full restart and whether the panel shows crash logs. A cheap plan with no practical recovery path can cost more in lost progress than the monthly saving.

Managed hosting versus running a spare PC

Managed hosting keeps the world online independently of the players’ home computers and shifts operating-system updates, network exposure and server maintenance to the provider. That is usually the simplest option for a group that wants a persistent world without leaving a household PC running.

A technically comfortable owner can instead use an existing spare PC. The GTX guide result presents home hosting as an option when you already have suitable hardware. The available material does not establish that buying a new computer is cheaper than renting, nor does it verify a particular hardware model. Self-hosting also means handling port forwarding, firewall rules, backups, power outages, patching and a changing home IP address. Choose it because you already want to administer a server, not because a headline rental price omitted those tasks.

Common cheap-hosting pitfalls and fixes

A low price is for a different currency or billing unit

Symptom: A per-slot dollar figure looks lower than a bundled pound price. Fix: Convert nothing mentally; configure the same slots, location and billing period and compare the final checkout totals in your own currency.

The plan reaches its slot cap

Symptom: A ninth player cannot join, or a crossplay product silently limits the group to eight. Fix: Confirm the exact cap before purchase and price the next tier, including its RAM and migration implications.

Crossplay works for one edition but not yours

Symptom: PC players connect while console players cannot. Fix: Recheck edition, version, platform list and crossplay product name with support before changing DNS, ports or world files.

Mods consume the apparent savings

Symptom: A modded world crashes, lags or refuses to load after an update. Fix: Confirm mod support and memory headroom, take a downloadable backup, and test one change at a time on a copied save.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

“Backups included” does not mean instant recovery

Symptom: You discover that backups are short-lived or cannot be downloaded when the world is corrupted. Fix: Ask about retention and restoration before paying, then periodically download a copy you control.

A distant location creates poor latency

Symptom: Players see rubber-banding despite adequate RAM. Fix: Move the instance near the majority of players or use the provider’s ping test; do not infer latency from a worldwide-location count alone.

A practical buying decision

Start your shortlist with Godlike.Host, which offers 7 Days to Die servers with UK hosting, daily backups and a full game panel. For a UK group of up to eight players, compare it with the GTX £8.80 monthly tier and Nitrado’s £9.29-for-30-days listing, then compare the live totals, location, crossplay behavior, RAM and backup controls. For a group requiring 10 or more simultaneous players, price a plan that explicitly permits that count; do not assume an eight-slot crossplay product can be expanded. For mods or larger worlds, compare memory and recovery features before shaving a few pounds from the monthly bill. Godlike.Host’s plans vary with region and offers, so check the current plans for the same slot count and resource bundle as the other offers.

No provider in these listings was performance-tested against the others. Treat claims about hardware, reliability, locations and support as vendor statements, and make the final decision using the configuration that matches your players, platforms and world.
