Cheap laptops for video editing are a trade-off between the footage you edit and the hardware you can afford. The five configurations below are candidates to compare, not a verified top-five ranking: the available marketplace roundup covers photo editing, not video-editing benchmarks or hands-on laptop tests. It cannot establish editing smoothness, export times, or best value.
Start with your footage: HD and 4K have different needs
Adobe’s Premiere requirements distinguish HD work from 4K and higher-resolution editing. Its technical requirements page, last updated October 7, 2026, says minimum specifications are for HD editing and recommended specifications are for HD, 4K, or higher-resolution work. Those are software recommendations, not a promise of a particular laptop’s performance.
For Windows, Adobe lists 8 GB of RAM as the minimum (16 GB for Windows on Arm). It recommends 16 GB for HD and 32 GB or more for 4K and higher. Adobe also recommends 8 GB of GPU memory for Windows, a fast internal SSD for the application and cache, and an additional high-speed drive for media. Its processor guidance is Intel 11th generation or newer with Quick Sync, AMD Ryzen 3000 series / Threadripper 3000 series or newer, or a Qualcomm Snapdragon X processor for Windows on Arm. See Adobe’s Premiere system requirements.

Use those figures as a comparison baseline, not as a guarantee that a laptop will handle a project well. The listings below provide different combinations of memory, graphics, storage, and portability; none comes with verified video-editing results here.

Five laptop configurations to compare
The configurations are transcribed from a commercial photo-editing roundup. It reported that its prices were last checked September 16, 2026, and may change. Check the live listing for the exact model and price; the roundup does not establish that these are the best laptops for video editing.
| Listed configuration | HD and 4K memory fit | Graphics and processor considerations | Storage, display, and condition |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dell Precision 5470 (renewed listing) Core i7-12700H; 16 GB RAM |
Meets Adobe’s 16 GB HD recommendation; below its 32 GB-or-more 4K recommendation. | RTX A1000 with 4 GB graphics memory, below Adobe’s 8 GB Windows recommendation. No benchmark performance is established. | 2 TB SSD; 16-inch, 2560 × 1600 OLED display. Verify that the current listing still matches these specifications. |
| Lenovo Yoga 7 16-inch 2-in-1 Ryzen 7 8840HS; 16 GB RAM |

| Dell Precision 5550 (renewed listing) Core i7-10750H; 32 GB RAM |
Meets Adobe’s stated 4K memory recommendation. | Quadro T1000 with 4 GB graphics memory, below Adobe’s 8 GB recommendation. Its Intel processor is older than Adobe’s recommended 11th generation or newer. | 512 GB SSD. Confirm software compatibility and renewed condition, along with the seller and offer terms. |
Specifications and configurations in this table come from the CherryPicks photo-editing roundup; Premiere guidance comes from Adobe’s requirements page. Neither source supplies a controlled comparison of video-editing playback or export performance.

Which configuration fits which workload on paper?
For HD projects
The listed Dell Precision 5470, Lenovo Yoga 7, and NIMO N179 each have 16 GB of RAM, matching Adobe’s HD recommendation. That does not establish how smoothly any of them edits a particular project. The two integrated-graphics listings do not state GPU memory, while the Precision 5470 lists 4 GB—below Adobe’s Windows recommendation.
For 4K and higher-resolution projects
The Acer’s listed 64 GB and the renewed Dell Precision 5550’s 32 GB meet or exceed Adobe’s 32 GB-or-more memory guidance. The Precision 5550 lists only 4 GB of graphics memory, and its processor is older than Adobe’s recommended Intel generation. The Acer listing does not state GPU memory. Neither RAM figure alone proves that a laptop will perform well in 4K editing.

For carrying the laptop or using its screen
The listed screens range from the 14-inch Precision 5470 to the 17.3-inch NIMO N179; the Acer and both 16-inch models fall between them. A smaller display may suit a more portable setup, while a larger screen offers more workspace, but the supplied listings do not establish battery life, weight, color accuracy, or portability in use. Treat the listed resolution and panel type as specification details, not evidence of display quality.
Check the listing before checkout
- Match the exact configuration. Confirm processor, RAM, SSD capacity, graphics model, and—where the listing states it—GPU memory. Model names can cover different configurations; do not infer GPU memory from a GPU name.
- Check whether the laptop is new or renewed. Both Precision listings are identified as renewed. Read the condition description and verify seller, warranty, and return terms before ordering.
- Recheck the current price and offer. CherryPicks said prices were last checked September 16, 2026, and may change. That is not a current-price guarantee.
- Plan storage for active media. Adobe recommends a fast internal SSD for the application and cache, plus an additional high-speed drive for media. If internal capacity is tight, an external high-speed SSD is an accessory category worth considering; no particular drive is established by these listings.
- Consider the full workflow. Check that the chosen laptop and its ports can support your intended external media drive and project setup. The supplied configurations do not state port details or measured real-world editing behavior.
What this comparison can—and cannot—tell you
These five listings offer useful specification contrasts: 16 GB versus 32 GB or more of RAM, dedicated versus integrated graphics, SSD capacities from 512 GB to 2 TB, and new-versus-renewed listing status. They do not provide video-editing benchmarks, controlled export times, evidence of editing smoothness, or a verified value ranking. Treat them as starting points for checking a current offer against Adobe’s requirements and your workload—not as proven winners.
