A cheap tablet can be a sensible choice for casual games, but a low price and a fast-looking screen do not guarantee smooth play in demanding 3D titles. For a budget shortlist, consider the Samsung Galaxy Tab A9+ and Redmi Pad SE, then check the exact regional configuration and price. If gaming hardware matters more than a strict budget, compare the Lenovo Legion Tab—but confirm its local price before treating it as a cheap option.

Which cheap tablet is right for your games?

Start with the games you actually play. Lightweight casual titles and general entertainment are a more realistic fit for budget tablets than demanding 3D games. The available sources do not establish device-specific, independently published gaming benchmarks for the budget candidates below, so none can be promised to run a particular game smoothly or at a particular frame rate.

  • Mostly casual games and everyday use: Put the Samsung Galaxy Tab A9+ on your shortlist, but verify the local model, memory and storage before buying.
  • You want a larger display: Compare the Redmi Pad SE. Xiaomi lists an 11-inch screen, but its specifications do not establish game performance.
  • Gaming-focused hardware is the priority: Look at the Lenovo Legion Tab as a comparison model, not an automatic bargain. Its current local price must fit your budget.

Model What the available evidence establishes Best fit to consider What to verify
Samsung Galaxy Tab A9+ Samsung’s India product page documents a named 5G configuration. A 2026 cheap-tablet guide includes the A9+ as an entry-level Android option. Neither source establishes an independently tested gaming frame rate or current market price. Casual play and general tablet use on a budget. Local model, RAM, storage, network version and current price. Samsung’s India specifications are specific to that regional listing; Tom’s Guide’s cheap-tablet guide supplies entry-level context.
Xiaomi Redmi Pad SE Xiaomi’s Indonesian specification page lists a Snapdragon 680, an 11-inch 1920 × 1200 display, up to 90 Hz refresh and up to 180 Hz touch sampling. These are manufacturer specifications, not gaming test results. Buyers who value a larger viewing area and want a budget comparison option. Local version, configuration, availability and price. Check Xiaomi’s official specifications.
Lenovo Legion Tab Lenovo positions the Gen 3 as an 8.8-inch Android gaming tablet. Its surfaced Gen 5 page describes dual USB-C, Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0. These product descriptions do not establish game-by-game performance or that the tablet is inexpensive in your market. Buyers prioritizing a gaming-focused device and willing to compare its price with their budget. Generation, regional configuration and current local price. See Lenovo’s Legion Tab Gen 3 page and Legion Tab Gen 5 page.

How to choose without mistaking specs for performance

Match the tablet to the workload

For casual games, a general-purpose budget tablet may be sufficient. For demanding 3D games, look for testing of the exact model and the games you play. The sources here do not establish independently published, device-specific gaming benchmarks for these candidates, so avoid relying on assumed frame rates or benchmark scores.

Check the exact configuration

A model name alone is not enough: RAM, storage, wireless version and regional hardware can differ. Confirm the configuration on the seller’s listing and compare it with the manufacturer’s regional product page. This matters particularly for the A9+, whose cited Samsung page covers an India-specific 5G configuration, and for the Redmi Pad SE, whose cited specifications are from Xiaomi Indonesia.

Choose screen size and portability

The Redmi Pad SE’s cited specification is an 11-inch, 1920 × 1200 display. Lenovo describes the Legion Tab Gen 3 as an 8.8-inch tablet, a more compact screen size for handheld use. A larger display gives games and video more viewing area; a smaller tablet may be easier to hold for long sessions. Choose based on how and where you play, not screen size alone.

Understand refresh rate and touch sampling

Xiaomi lists up to 90 Hz refresh and up to 180 Hz touch sampling for the Redmi Pad SE. Refresh rate describes how often the display can update; touch sampling describes how often it can register touch input. Neither figure proves that a particular game renders at 90 frames per second, or that the game supports that rate. Actual frame rate depends on the tablet, the game and its settings.

Compare real local prices

No current market price or live stock status is established for these candidates. Compare listings for the same generation, region and memory/storage configuration, and account for whether a tablet is an import. Do not label the Legion Tab cheap unless its price in your market fits your ceiling.

A practical buying checklist

  1. Write down your games. Separate casual titles from demanding 3D games, and seek model- and game-specific testing for the latter.
  2. Set a firm local budget. Compare current listings in your market rather than relying on an unspecified or outdated price.
  3. Match model and configuration. Check generation, RAM, storage, connectivity and regional version against the manufacturer’s page.
  4. Decide on screen size. Balance viewing area against how comfortably you can hold and carry the tablet.
  5. Evaluate the evidence. Treat manufacturer specifications as specifications, and look for independent tests before assuming a game will perform well.

What the available figures can—and cannot—tell you

The Redmi Pad SE’s Snapdragon 680, resolution, refresh rate and touch-sampling rate describe its listed hardware. They do not provide measured gaming performance. Likewise, Lenovo’s Gen 5 page says: “With WiFi 7, Bluetooth® 6.0, and a dual USB-C® port design made for gaming, Lenovo Legion Tab Gen 5 delivers fast, stable connections and uninterrupted play wherever you connect.” That is Lenovo’s product-page language, not independent validation of connection quality or uninterrupted gameplay.

Tom’s Guide reports a 10 hours 31 minutes battery test for the Motorola MotoPad, a different tablet. That result should not be used to estimate battery life for the A9+, Redmi Pad SE or Legion Tab.
