To change a Samsung Galaxy phone’s font, open Settings > Display > Font size and style. From there, adjust text size, turn bold text on or off, choose an installed font, or download additional fonts through Galaxy Store. If you only want everything on screen to appear larger, use Screen zoom instead.
How to change the font or text size on a Samsung phone
- Open Settings.
- Search Settings for Font size and style. If it does not appear, go to Display > Font size and style.
- Drag the Font size slider to make text smaller or larger.
- Switch Bold font on or off to change how heavy the letters look.
- Tap Font style and select an installed font.
Samsung’s menu names and available options can vary by device model, software version, and wireless carrier. If the Display menu differs, try searching Settings for “Font size and style.” Samsung’s font-settings guide describes both choosing a style and adjusting size and weight.
How to download more fonts on Samsung
- Open Settings > Display > Font size and style > Font style.
- Tap Download fonts. Galaxy Store will open.
- Browse the fonts shown there and install one that is available for your device and region.
- Return to Font style and select the font if it has not already been applied.
The font catalog and availability can differ; not every font is necessarily free or offered on every Galaxy device. Samsung’s documented route is through Galaxy Store. Its support guidance does not establish one universal, supported method for loading arbitrary font files on all models and software versions, so third-party utilities, rooting, or command-based workarounds should not be treated as standard Samsung instructions. Font size, bold text, contrast, and screen zoom: which should you use?

Samsung documents Screen zoom separately from font size; on some Galaxy Z Fold devices, the related control may be labeled Screen layout and zoom. Use zoom when text alone is not the issue and you want other interface elements larger too. Samsung’s display-settings guide covers this control.

Make Samsung text easier to read
Increase text size or weight
Raise the Font size slider and try Bold font if thin lettering is difficult to see. These controls address different things: size changes the dimensions of text, while boldness changes its visual weight.
Improve contrast
For text that blends into its background, open Settings > Accessibility > Vision enhancements and enable High contrast fonts. This is a contrast aid, not a different font family. Samsung lists the setting in its font and accessibility guidance.

Account for app differences
Font controls do not behave identically in every app. Samsung notes that its Huge font size works only in some apps; apps that do not support it use Large. Google likewise warns that some apps do not apply Android’s font-size setting. If one app’s text remains small, its own display or accessibility settings may offer another adjustment, but the system slider may not control it. Google’s Android text and display guidance explains the platform-level limitation.

When the font setting is missing or looks different
- Search Settings for Font size and style rather than relying on the menu layout.
- Check Settings > Display for related options such as Screen zoom.
- Expect some labels or available screens to differ by model, software version, carrier, and region; Samsung’s regional guidance also notes variation. Samsung Gulf’s instructions were last updated June 9, 2026.
- If a downloaded font is not listed, return to Font style after installation and check the available choices. Catalog availability can vary.
