If you want a cellular trail camera with no monthly fee, the clearest current example in the official product pages reviewed is the SPYPOINT FLEX-M. Its manufacturer lists a $0 plan with 100 SD photos per month per camera. That is a limited free photo-transmission allowance—not unlimited cellular service, and not a guarantee that every feature or accessory is free.
Which cellular trail camera has no monthly fee?
SPYPOINT lists 100 free photos per month per camera for its cellular cameras, including the FLEX-M. Its FLEX-M page also lists no activation fees. The free tier delivers SD photos; the page lists HD delivery on paid plans. These are SPYPOINT’s current displayed terms, not a claim that it is the only brand with a free option or that the terms will remain unchanged. Check SPYPOINT’s FLEX-M page for current plan details.
“No fees” needs qualification: the $0 amount applies to the listed monthly plan, while the camera itself is a separate purchase. The free allowance is capped at 100 photos per month per camera, and paid services may be needed for a higher allowance or HD delivery.

Will 100 free photos be enough?
It depends on how often the camera is triggered and how frequently you need images sent to your phone. A quiet property or occasional scouting location may stay within 100 photos in a month; a busy trail could exceed the limit. Consider expected activity over a full month rather than assuming that a low-traffic test day represents typical use.
Check the image format
SPYPOINT lists the free FLEX-M allowance as SD photos. Its paid Standard and Premium plans list HD photos. If image detail matters for identifying an animal or reviewing a scene, compare the delivered image quality you need with the plan’s stated format rather than treating every photo allowance as equivalent.

Calculate recurring cost per camera
SPYPOINT says one plan is used per camera. Tactacam’s comparison describes pooled allowances and discounted additional-camera amounts for eligible accounts, so a multi-camera setup may have a different effective cost. Confirm the account-specific terms before comparing a per-camera price with a pooled allowance.

- Monthly photo volume: Estimate how many transmissions the location is likely to generate and check what happens when the free allowance is reached.
- Image delivery: Verify whether the plan sends SD or HD images and whether video, live viewing, or on-demand requests cost extra.
- Coverage at the exact placement: A cellular camera needs a compatible carrier signal to transmit automatically. Moultrie says its camera can still capture and store images out of range, but it will not send them until it is back in coverage. Signal and carrier availability vary by location and model. - Field specifications: Compare detection and flash range, trigger speed, flash type, and power arrangement. - Power accessories: A compatible solar panel or other power accessory may reduce battery changes, but compatibility is model-specific and it does not remove cellular service fees. Check the camera manufacturer’s supported accessories.
What “free” does—and does not—mean
On the SPYPOINT FLEX-M page, the free offer is a capped monthly allotment of SD photo transmissions. The listed camera price at the time the page was accessed was $59.99 on sale, with a regular displayed price of $79.99; retail prices are volatile and separate from the monthly plan. Free app access should not be confused with free cellular transmission. Moultrie’s plan page says, “ALL CELLULAR CONNECTED DEVICES REQUIRE A PAID SUBSCRIPTION.” That statement applies to Moultrie’s connected devices; it should not be generalized to other manufacturers. Moultrie subscription terms
