The Call of Duty League is scheduled to return to Europe in 2027, including a UK Major at DreamHack Birmingham. The reported season will use Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 and conclude with a July Championship associated with OpTic Texas. Several host cities and venue details remain unconfirmed.
Reported 2027 CDL schedule
Insider Gaming reported the outline on October 14, 2026. The dates below reflect that report and DreamHack’s separate confirmation of its Birmingham festival. A city described as likely, rather than confirmed, is marked accordingly.
| Timing | Event | Host certainty | Format or location notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| February 12, 2027 | European Major | Europe confirmed; city undisclosed | The report does not identify the February host city. |
| April 2–4, 2027 | UK Major at DreamHack Birmingham | Festival venue confirmed | DreamHack Birmingham is confirmed for the NEC. The UK Major is expected to include a LAN Pro-Am. |
| May 2027 | Toronto event | Toronto named | The report gives May timing but no specific event-day schedule. |
| June 18, 2027 | Major IV on the West Coast | Region confirmed; city not confirmed | California is described as the most likely location, not an official venue announcement. Major IV is expected to feature a Pro-Am. |
| July 8, 2027 | Call of Duty League Championship | City and venue unconfirmed | OpTic Texas is associated with hosting the Championship. |
The sequence establishes a February European return, a UK stop in April, a Toronto stop in May, a West Coast event in June and the Championship in July. It does not yet provide a complete day-by-day calendar, ticket release schedule or broadcast timetable.

What the Birmingham return means
DreamHack has confirmed that its Birmingham festival will return to the National Exhibition Centre from April 2 through April 4, 2027. That confirmation fixes the UK festival dates and venue; the CDL announcement supplies the Major’s place in the league calendar.

The 2026 Birmingham event drew more than 54,000 visitors from 65 countries, according to figures reported by Insider Gaming, and its competitions distributed almost $1.7 million (£1.3 million) in prize money. Those are 2026 event figures, not a forecast for the 2027 CDL tournament.
The live setting is significant for competitive fans. Overactive Media CEO Adam Adamou said after the 2026 event, “Hopefully it’s becoming obvious [to the CDL] that CoD is best in front of a live audience.” The 2027 UK Major should therefore be treated as an arena event within a larger gaming festival, rather than as a broadcast-only league weekend.

How the 2027 format could involve Challengers teams
The reported format adds more opportunities for amateur players to appear alongside the professional circuit. The UK Major is set to include a LAN Pro-Am, while Major III is scheduled to add a play-in round. Major IV is also expected to feature a Pro-Am.

The official Call of Duty League site describes Challengers as the amateur route to the professional circuit. In practical terms, these additions can create LAN matches between established CDL rosters and qualifying Challengers players or teams. The report does not yet specify the number of slots, qualification rules, seeding system or prize-money split, so those mechanics should not be assumed.

Which game will the 2027 CDL use?
Insider Gaming reports that the 2027 season will be played on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. Activision and the league have not supplied, in the available announcement, a full competitive rulebook covering maps, modes, weapon restrictions, platform settings or patch policy. Players planning for the season should distinguish the reported game title from confirmed esports settings, which still require an official league rules release.
What is still unknown
- February host city: The European Major’s city has been withheld.
- West Coast host: California is the leading possibility mentioned in the report, but no city or venue is confirmed.
- Championship venue: July 8 and the association with OpTic Texas are reported, while the host city and building remain unannounced.
- Tickets: Official CDL and DreamHack ticket launch dates for these 2027 competitions have not been published in the available information.
- Broadcast details: Start times, channels and the complete match schedule are not yet available.
- Competitive rules: Pro-Am eligibility, play-in format and Challengers qualification procedures have not been detailed.
Travel implications for fans
| Fan base | Most practical confirmed target | What to wait for |
|---|---|---|
| UK fans | DreamHack Birmingham at the NEC, April 2–4 | CDL match-day timetable and ticket information |
| Fans elsewhere in Europe | The February 12 European Major | Host-city, arena and travel announcements |
| North American fans | Toronto in May or the June 18 West Coast Major | Toronto venue and the West Coast city; California remains only the likely region |
| Championship travelers | The July 8 final associated with OpTic Texas | Official city, venue and ticket release |
Until the league publishes venue and ticket information, travelers should avoid treating the undisclosed European city, the California assumption or the Championship location as settled. The firmest planning point is the NEC festival window in Birmingham.
