Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse is scheduled to launch on October 15, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, Steam, and Nintendo Switch. An opening-chapter demo is available, with progress transferable only to the full game on the same platform and account. The game follows Rose Belmont through 1499 Paris in a 2D action-exploration adventure built around whip-based movement and combat.
When does Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse come out, and where can you play it?
Konami lists October 15, 2026, as the release date. As of October 13, 2026, the full game is still in its pre-launch window, while the opening-chapter demo is available. Konami’s product listing names PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, Steam, and Nintendo Switch as platforms. Store availability and product details can differ by region, so check the local storefront before buying.
Nintendo’s US listing says the Nintendo Switch version is supported on Switch 2, with behavior consistent with Nintendo Switch. It is not listed as a separate Switch 2 edition. If you are choosing between platforms, the clearest published differences are the listed frame-rate target and storage capacity, rather than independent evidence that one version looks or runs better.

These are Konami’s listed full-game capacity and frame-rate figures; they are not a guarantee of the final amount of free space required after updates or of performance in every scene. Nintendo’s US store page separately estimates a 4.2 GB download for the Switch game. That estimate is specific to that listing.
Konami’s product page gives the game an ESRB Teen rating. Nintendo’s US listing identifies Blood, Mild Suggestive Themes, and Violence as content descriptors. Rating details can vary by territory.
Is there a demo, and does its progress carry over?
Yes. Konami offers a demo covering the opening chapter and says its save can transfer to the full game. The transfer is limited to the same platform and the same account: for example, a PlayStation 5 demo save will not transfer to a Nintendo Switch or Steam copy under Konami’s stated conditions. Some features or content may be restricted in the demo.

How to preserve a demo save for launch
- Pick the platform for your full game first. Start the demo on the platform you intend to use for the full game if carrying progress forward matters to you.
- Use the account you plan to keep using. Konami’s transfer condition requires the same account as well as the same platform.
- Keep the demo save available. Do not delete the save before transferring progress.
- Update the full game. Konami says the full version must be updated to the latest version when you transfer the demo save.
The demo page lists minimum capacities of 6 GB on PS5, 5 GB on Xbox Series X|S, 4 GB on Steam, and 3 GB on Nintendo Switch. Those are the demo’s published minimum capacity figures, not estimates for the complete game. If storage is tight, compare the relevant demo and full-game figures before downloading; they describe different products.
Who is Rose Belmont, and when does the story take place?
The story is set in Paris in 1499, 23 years after Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse. Rose Belmont, described by Konami as Trevor Belmont’s daughter, is the central character. The official descriptions place the action across Paris streets, catacombs, and Dracula’s castle, as monsters attack the city and Rose grows into her role as a Belmont.
That establishes the title’s place in the series timeline and gives returning players a connection to Trevor. The official material summarized here does not establish whether prior series knowledge is required to follow the story, so it is safer to treat the timeline as context rather than assume a particular level of familiarity.

What kind of game is Belmont’s Curse?
Konami classifies it as a “2D Action-Exploration” game. Its announced design combines exploration with combat and traversal: Rose uses the Vampire Killer whip to attack enemies and move through the environment, while other weapons and abilities add options. A sword is specifically mentioned in the official descriptions.

The whip is more than a weapon in the announced design. Konami’s February 12, 2026, PlayStation Blog post described using it to move freely, and highlighted learning its mechanics to create movement and attack opportunities. The published material therefore points to a game where movement, enemy encounters, and exploration are interlinked, rather than a description centered only on room-to-room combat.
Exploration, secrets, and bosses
Official descriptions call out hidden chambers and items, breakable walls that can conceal health-restoring meat, and challenging areas. Nintendo’s store page names Death, Medusa, and Carmilla among the bosses, introduces Joan of Arc as a new boss, and highlights an Arcana System. These are announced features; they do not establish how long the game is, how its difficulty is balanced, or how each boss encounter plays in practice.

The available official genre label is action-exploration. It does not label Belmont’s Curse a roguelike. The published descriptions instead emphasize freely explorable maps, secrets, weapons, abilities, and bosses. That is the useful distinction for someone deciding what sort of game to expect; claims about procedural generation, repeated runs, or roguelike systems are not established by the listed descriptions.
What is included in Standard and Midnight editions?
Konami lists a Standard Edition digital version with the main game. The physical or digital Midnight Edition includes the main game, a separate Digital Sound & Art Gallery application, two costumes, and the Family’s Grace relic. The Gallery is described as containing more than 100 pieces of art and an in-app music player; Konami’s current product page lists 71 tracks.

The extra value of Midnight is mainly the Gallery and its three in-game bonuses, not a different version of the main game as described on Konami’s product page. If the Gallery, costumes, and relic are not important to you, the Standard listing covers the main game. The Digital Sound & Art Gallery is separate from the game itself, so account for it as an additional application rather than assuming it is a menu inside the main game.

As a dated price reference, the US Xbox/Microsoft Store listing showed $29.99 for Standard and $39.99 for Midnight when checked on October 13, 2026. These are US digital storefront prices observed on that date, not global prices or guaranteed final prices. Physical pricing, retailer stock, and regional edition contents are not established by those figures. Konami’s EMEA retailer incentives are likewise regional and retailer-specific.

There is no published independent comparison here that would support ranking image quality or actual performance across versions. A practical choice depends on your existing hardware and account, whether you prefer a physical or digital copy, how much storage you can spare, and whether the Midnight extras matter to you.
- Choose around demo continuity: if you have started the demo and want its save, buy the full game for that same platform and use the same account.
- Choose around the published frame-rate listing: Konami lists 30 fps for Nintendo Switch and 60 fps generally for the other platforms in its table. Treat those as stated specifications rather than a hands-on performance comparison.
- Choose around storage: use the edition- and platform-specific capacity figures above, and leave room for possible updates rather than treating a listed minimum as a complete long-term storage budget.
- Choose Standard if the base game is what you want: Konami lists the main game in Standard.
- Consider Midnight for its specific extras: its documented additions are the Gallery, Trevor and Sypha style costumes, and Family’s Grace relic. Check the regional listing for physical-download or retailer-specific bonus conditions.
- On Switch 2, check the listing carefully: Nintendo describes support for the Switch version with behavior consistent with Switch, not a separate Switch 2 release.
