There is no universal paper-money loading limit for Cash App. For U.S. accounts, Cash App sets the limit individually and displays it in the app. Cash deposited at a participating retailer is added to your Cash App Balance, which you can then spend with your Cash App Card.
How to find your paper-money limit
Cash App does not publish a standard daily, weekly, or monthly maximum for paper-money deposits. Its U.S. Terms of Service say the limit is determined individually using factors that include account history, direct-deposit history, spending activity, and risk. Limits may be adjusted, so check the amount shown in your own Cash App before making a deposit. Cash App U.S. Terms of Service

A universal figure sometimes repeated online—such as a fixed weekly or monthly cap—should not be treated as Cash App’s official limit. The amount displayed for your account is the relevant figure.
How to add paper cash to your Cash App Balance
“Loading” the Cash App Card generally means adding money to your Cash App Balance; the funds are not loaded directly onto the physical card. Cash App supports paper-money deposits at participating retailers through either an in-app barcode or an active Cash App Card swipe. Use the app to find participating locations and the deposit option available to you.

- Open Cash App and find the paper-money deposit option to view your account limit and participating retailers.
- At a participating retailer, follow the app’s instructions to show the generated barcode or swipe your active Cash App Card.
- Ask the retailer about any applicable minimum before completing the transaction. Cash App’s terms say the retailer may require a minimum of $5 or $20, depending on whether you use the barcode or card swipe.
Cash App states a $1 fee per paper-money deposit. Its U.S. terms say that, effective June 29, 2026, the fee applies to all customers, including customers who previously may have qualified for a waiver. Cash App U.S. Terms of Service
Paper cash, direct deposit, and card spending limits are different
Cash App lists several ways to fund an account, but their limits are not interchangeable. A direct-deposit maximum does not establish how much paper cash you can deposit, and the Cash App Card’s spending cap does not determine how much you can load.

What to check before visiting a retailer
- Your paper-money limit in Cash App, since it is account-specific and may change.
- Whether the location participates and whether it accepts barcode deposits, card swipes, or both.
- The retailer’s applicable minimum: Cash App’s terms allow a $5 or $20 minimum depending on the deposit method.
- The $1 paper-money deposit fee applicable under Cash App’s U.S. terms from June 29, 2026.
