How well does it suit commuting?
Useful everyday equipment
The combination of hybrid frame, 27.5-inch puncture-protected tyres and nine-speed gearing points to general road and path use rather than a dedicated off-road setup. Hydraulic disc brakes provide braking through a hydraulic system, while the 180mm rotors are part of the listed specification; the listing alone does not establish stopping performance in particular conditions.

Treat that as the retailer’s stated charging time, not a measured result for every charging situation.

What range can you expect?
Halfords gives an “up to 40 miles” maximum and explicitly qualifies it as the furthest range under ideal conditions. It names assist mode, temperature, tyre pressure, wind, rider weight and luggage as factors that affect distance. The figure is not a promise that every commute, or even a typical ride, will reach 40 miles.

Important uncertainty: the sensor description conflicts
Halfords’ descriptive copy calls the assistance sensor a torque sensor, while its specification table says cadence sensor. Those describe different ways of detecting pedalling input, and the listing does not resolve the inconsistency. Confirm the sensor fitted to the specific bike with the retailer before purchase if this affects your choice.
Do not confuse it with similarly named models
Carrera model names in this range are close, but the specifications differ. The figures below belong to separate listings and should not be substituted for the Subway-E 2 figures above.
