To animate something in Canva on Android, open your design, select the page, text box, or element you want to move, tap Animate, and choose an effect offered for that selection. Open Animate again to change or remove it. The available choices depend on what you selected and, in some cases, your Canva plan.
How to animate a page, text, or element in Canva on Android
- Open your design in the Canva mobile editor.
- Select the page to animate the whole page, or tap a text box, photo, graphic, shape, or other element to animate only that item.
- Tap Animate in the editor toolbar.
- Choose an animation available for the selected content. Page, text, and other element selections can show different options.
- To change the effect, reopen Animate and choose another option. To clear it, select Remove animation.
Canva also documents a Create an animation option: drag the element to define its motion path, then adjust its motion style and effects. Button placement and layout may differ between devices; Canva’s instructions do not specify a minimum Android version, handset model, or app version. Why animation choices may differ
The selection matters: Canva says the available styles can depend on whether you chose text, a graphic, shape, photo, or video. Its plan information also says more animations and transitions are available with Canva Pro, Canva Teams, Canva Education, and Canva for Nonprofits. The current app shows which effects are available to your account; do not assume a specific named effect is included with a particular plan. See Canva’s plan information.

Animation limits to keep in mind
- Each animation can last up to 10 seconds, according to Canva Help Center.
- A design can include up to 50 animations, according to Canva Help Center.
Download the design in a format that preserves motion
Choose a format based on what the design contains and how you want to share it. Canva identifies GIF as an option for animated designs and MP4 for designs with video and music. Its file-type guidance warns that animations and embedded videos may not play as expected when a design is exported to PPTX or DOCX. See Canva’s file-type guide.

On mobile, tap Share, then Download, choose the file type, and select all pages or only the current page as needed. Canva documents these steps in its download and save instructions.
