If NBA 2K27 says “You must be online to enter MyCAREER,” first check whether 2K reports a service issue for your platform and game mode. If status looks normal, check that your 2K Account information is complete, its email is verified, and your platform account is linked to the right 2K Account. Restart the game after making account changes. These are official general troubleshooting steps—not a confirmed, guaranteed fix for this exact NBA 2K27 message.
1. Check NBA 2K service status while the error is happening
MyCAREER access can depend on online game services, so a working home internet connection does not by itself rule out a service-side problem. Open the official NBA 2K Server Status page and check the entries for your platform and game mode. The page also links to network troubleshooting and a support request option.
- If the page reports an issue affecting your platform or mode, wait for service to recover and try again rather than repeatedly changing account or network settings.
- If it does not show an issue, continue with the account checks below. Status can change, so check again if the error persists.
2. Complete and verify your 2K Account
2K’s guidance for connection errors says an incomplete account can be a cause: “This can be caused by an incomplete 2K Account.” Sign in to the 2K Account portal, fill in any information it requests, and verify the email address if it is not already verified. Then restart NBA 2K27 and check MyCAREER again.

A platform profile connected to a different 2K Account than the one you intend to use may complicate access. Check the Connections area of your 2K Account. If the platform account is linked to the wrong account, 2K’s instructions describe unlinking it, signing in to the correct 2K Account, verifying its email, and linking the platform account there.

Do not unlink before checking the account-specific restrictions in 2K’s guidance. PlayStation links can have restrictions, and child accounts may require special care. If you are unsure which account is linked or whether you can relink it, contact 2K Support before changing the connection.
4. If it still fails, use official support rather than guessing
Restart the game after completing account corrections. If the message remains and the status page shows no relevant outage, follow the official network troubleshooting links from the status page or submit a support request. Include your platform, region, the exact message, and when it appeared; these details help support assess whether the issue concerns service, account setup, or your connection.

What this message does—and does not—tell you
The error alone does not establish that your internet is disconnected, identify a particular cause, or prove that your hardware needs replacing. NBA 2K27’s official PC requirements say broadband is required and that first installation needs a one-time internet connection for Steam authentication, but they do not identify a cable, router, drive, or other physical item as a fix for this MyCAREER message.
Official 2K sources document status checks and general account troubleshooting, but do not provide a verified NBA 2K27-specific procedure or guarantee that these steps will resolve this exact error. A third-party guide and an early-access user report also mention the message, but they do not establish its cause or a reproducible fix.
