For HomeBase 2, connect the base to your router with Ethernet during initial setup; Wi-Fi is an option to switch to after setup. If the base is already online but an accessory will not pair, troubleshoot that accessory separately—the pairing steps depend on its model.
First, identify what “can’t connect” means
Check which stage is failing before changing settings. The steps differ depending on whether HomeBase is being added for the first time, has gone offline, is not appearing in the app, or is already working but cannot pair with a camera or doorbell. Note the exact HomeBase and accessory models, since the Wi-Fi instructions below are for HomeBase 2 and the pairing procedure is for Video Doorbell Dual.
- Initial setup fails: Start with the wired setup checks for HomeBase 2.
- An installed HomeBase shows offline: Check its power and network connection, then whether it is using Ethernet or Wi-Fi.
- The app cannot find HomeBase: Confirm the phone and base are using the router indicated by the setup flow.
- A camera or doorbell will not pair: Use the instructions for that specific accessory rather than resetting HomeBase.
Set up HomeBase 2 over Ethernet
eufy says HomeBase 2 must connect to a router by Ethernet during setup. Check that the base is powered, the cable is firmly connected at both ends, and the router end is plugged into a working port. If the supplied cable may be faulty, test with a known-good Ethernet cable before considering a replacement.

In the documented eufyCam 2 setup flow, the phone is connected to the same router used by HomeBase, and the user waits for the base indicator to change from red to blue. Because this guidance is from that product’s setup flow, follow the prompts for your own model and app rather than treating the indicator sequence as universal.

After setup: choose Ethernet or Wi-Fi
eufy recommends Ethernet when the HomeBase and camera range is within limits and the signal is strong. The company says Wi-Fi transmission can be less stable and may delay live streams. Wi-Fi can offer more placement flexibility, but it is not necessarily the more reliable connection.
| Connection | What it offers | What to keep in mind |
|---|---|---|
| Ethernet | eufy’s recommended default when range and signal are suitable. | Requires a usable cable connection from the router to HomeBase. |
| Wi-Fi | Allows HomeBase placement without a direct Ethernet run. | eufy warns it may be less stable and live streams may have more delay. The company describes about 50 feet from the router as a theoretical guide for HomeBase 2; actual distance depends on walls, obstacles, and router location. |
To switch a configured HomeBase 2 to Wi-Fi, open the eufy app and go to Device Tab > select HomeBase > HomeBase Settings > General > Wi-Fi Connection. If the connection is unstable, reconnect Ethernet if feasible to check whether the wireless path is contributing to the problem.

If HomeBase 2 is online but Video Doorbell Dual will not pair
eufy’s instructions for pairing Video Doorbell Dual with HomeBase 2 call for a solid-blue HomeBase indicator, a blue doorbell indicator, and a distance of no more than 1 meter between the devices. Press and hold the doorbell’s SYNC button for two seconds, until it beeps.
If that specific procedure does not work, eufy’s article describes a longer sequence: hold SYNC for ten seconds, then hold it again for two seconds. These are model-specific doorbell instructions, not a general HomeBase reset procedure.

When the connection still fails
If the basic checks do not resolve the issue, contact eufy support with details that can help identify the failing step:
- Exact HomeBase and camera or doorbell models
- The app’s error message and the indicator colors you see
- Whether HomeBase is connected by Ethernet or Wi-Fi
- Whether the phone is on the router used by HomeBase during setup
- The checks and model-specific steps you have already tried
Do not change firewall, DHCP, DNS, VLAN, or port-forwarding settings based on guesswork. The guidance cited here does not establish those as fixes; follow current instructions for your exact model before changing network security settings. For HomeBase models other than HomeBase 2, use the support instructions that match that base rather than assuming the same setup requirements or menu labels apply.
