A Canon Pixma G3270 that will not print usually has one of four different faults: it has not finished starting, the job is taking the wrong network or printer queue, paper is not feeding correctly, or ink is not reaching the page. Diagnose the symptom before changing settings. A printer that a computer cannot find needs a connection check—not print-head cleaning.

Canon lists the G3270 among the supported models in its G3070-series online manual. The sequence below follows Canon’s documented order for no-print, network, paper-feed, jam, and ink problems.

Identify which failure you actually have

Look at the printer, the device sending the job, and the paper that comes out. The first visible symptom determines the safest branch:

What you see Most likely branch Start here
The printer is idle, offline, or never starts the job Power, initialization, connection, queue, selected printer, or driver Run the quick checks in order
The G3270 is not found by a phone or computer Router Wi‑Fi, Wireless Direct, permissions, range, or interference Check both ends of the network connection
“No Paper,” repeated misfeeds, or no sheet enters from the rear tray Loading, paper condition, mismatched settings, obstruction, or feed roller Reload a small stack and verify the print settings
Support code 1300 appears Paper jam Use the jam procedure; do not treat it as an ink or Wi‑Fi error
A page exits blank, pale, streaked, or missing one color Nozzle, ink level, media setting, or print-head condition Print a nozzle-check pattern before cleaning

If an LCD support code is displayed, use Canon’s G3070-series FAQ and support-code list for that code. Do not apply the ink procedure to a printer that the computer cannot discover.

Run the no-print checks before changing anything

Canon’s “Printer Does Not Print” checklist starts with conditions that can make a healthy printer appear broken. Complete these checks in sequence:

  1. Confirm power and startup. Make sure the power cord is firmly connected and the printer is switched on. Wait until initialization has finished and the LCD is no longer showing a startup operation. A job sent while the printer is still initializing may remain pending.
  2. Check the printer’s connection indicator. If you use router Wi‑Fi, verify that the G3270 shows its wireless connection and that the sending device has Wi‑Fi enabled. If the indicator is absent or the device is on another network, continue with the Wi‑Fi section rather than repeatedly resending the job.
  3. Match paper settings. The paper size and media type selected in the print dialog must describe the paper actually loaded in the rear tray. A mismatch can stop a job or cause an unexpected result even when paper is present.
  4. Remove obsolete jobs. Open the print queue on the computer or device and delete jobs that are stuck, duplicated, or no longer needed. Then send one small test page. A failed job left at the front of the queue can prevent later jobs from reaching the printer.
  5. Select the G3270, not another registered printer. Computers often retain several printer entries after a device is reconnected or its address changes. In the application’s print dialog, select the entry that identifies the Canon G3270 and its current driver, rather than an old or similarly named queue.
  6. Allow time for large files. High-resolution photos and graphics can take longer to process before the printer begins moving paper. Wait for data processing to finish before canceling a large job and starting another.
  7. Send a simple test. After the checks above, print a one-page text document. If that works, the original file, application, or graphics workload—not the printer’s basic mechanism—was the immediate cause.

Canon’s complete no-print procedure is documented at Printer Does Not Print.

Fix a G3270 that is missing from Wi‑Fi

Network printing has two separate paths. The normal path sends the printer and device through the same wireless router. Wireless Direct makes the device join a network broadcast by the printer itself. A phone or computer must use the path you configured; being connected to a different network will make the G3270 appear unavailable.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Router Wi‑Fi: verify both ends and the route

  1. Confirm that the router is powered and that the printer’s Wi‑Fi function is enabled. Check the G3270’s connection icon or network status.
  2. Verify the network name (SSID) and password saved on the printer. Compare them with the network to which the phone, tablet, Windows PC, or Mac is currently connected. A similarly named guest or extender network may be a different route.
  3. Move the printer closer to the router for testing. Walls, cabinets, metal objects, and long distances can weaken the signal. Temporarily move or switch off nearby equipment that may cause wireless interference.
  4. Try discovery again from the application that is printing. If the computer still cannot find the printer, use Canon’s Wi‑Fi Connection Assistant on the computer for a connection diagnosis.
  5. If the router recently changed, power-cycle it and check its configuration or firmware documentation. Canon notes that router-specific settings are handled by the router manufacturer, so consult that manufacturer when the router itself is not providing a usable connection.

Canon’s network page covers the printer and device checks, SSID and password matching, range, obstructions, interference, and Wi‑Fi Connection Assistant: smartphone and tablet communication troubleshooting.

Wireless Direct: join the printer’s network deliberately

Wireless Direct is not the same as router Wi‑Fi. Enable Wireless Direct on the G3270, then open the Wi‑Fi list on the phone, tablet, or computer and choose the printer’s Wireless Direct SSID. Enter the Wireless Direct password configured on the printer. The device must remain connected to that SSID while printing; switching back to the household router changes the route.

Canon limits Wireless Direct to a maximum of five connected devices. Disconnect unused phones or computers if a sixth device cannot join. Keep the device within practical wireless range and avoid assuming that Wireless Direct provides the same internet access as the router.

macOS 15 and later: allow local-network discovery

On macOS 15 or later, each application may need permission to discover devices on the local network. If a Mac can use Wi‑Fi but a particular printing application cannot find the G3270, check that application’s Local Network permission in macOS System Settings, then restart the application and try discovery again. Canon specifically notes that missing this permission can prevent device discovery or stop an application from starting correctly. This check is separate from the printer’s SSID and password.

When the G3270 will not pick up paper

A “No Paper” message can occur even when the rear tray contains sheets. Loading, paper condition, guides, and the selected media settings all affect feeding.

Reload the rear tray correctly

  • Use paper supported by the G3270 that is flat, dry, and not curled.
  • Load it in portrait orientation in the rear tray, with the printable side facing up.
  • Align the stack edges before inserting it. Slide the paper guides against the stack without bending the sheets.
  • Stay below the tray’s load limit. A smaller stack is a useful test when a full stack slips or feeds several sheets.
  • Remove torn, damp, curled, or otherwise damaged sheets. Do not mix sizes or types in one stack.

Make the print dialog agree with the tray

Set the document’s paper size and media type to match what is physically loaded. For example, selecting photo media while loading ordinary plain paper can alter feeding and print behavior; selecting the wrong size can make the printer stop before taking a sheet. Check the application’s print dialog and any Canon driver settings rather than relying only on the document’s page size.

Inspect for obstructions and decide whether to clean the roller

With the printer off as directed by Canon’s procedure, inspect the rear-tray feed path for scraps or foreign objects. Never force an object out or turn the printer upside down: ink can leak if the unit is tilted or inverted. Canon says feed-roller cleaning abrades the roller, so use it only when the basic loading, paper, settings, and obstruction checks have not solved the problem. If the G3270 still will not feed appropriate paper, arrange Canon service instead of repeatedly running the roller-cleaning operation.

See Canon’s detailed paper-feed troubleshooting for the supported-paper and roller guidance.

  • Whether you need a compact family printer, a reliable home office upgrade, a high-volume MegaTank model, or a photo-focused option for craft projects, the G3270 is built to cover real use cases with clear output and practical controls. It supports the kind of everyday print, scan, copy, or fax workflow that helps reduce interruptions and keeps important jobs moving from start to finish.
  1. Check the output slot and the rear-tray feed slot for visible paper.
  2. Remove an accessible sheet slowly and evenly so it does not tear. Pulling hard can leave a scrap inside the paper path.
  3. If paper is torn, inaccessible, or not visible, use Canon’s inside-printer removal procedure for the G3070 series. Open only the parts specified in that procedure and look for every fragment.
  4. Do not forcibly pull paper, tilt the printer, or turn it upside down. Ink may leak when the unit is moved incorrectly.
  5. After the path is clear, reload suitable paper with the guides aligned and press OK as instructed by the printer.
  6. If the printer was switched off during jam removal, jobs in progress may have been canceled. Resend those jobs after the printer returns to its ready state.

Use Canon’s illustrated paper-jam procedure for support code 1300 rather than improvising with tools or force.

Blank, faint, streaked, or missing-color pages

First confirm that the paper size and media type match the loaded stock and that print quality is appropriate for the job. If the page is still blank, pale, streaked, or missing a color, print a nozzle-check pattern. The pattern separates an ink-delivery problem from a file, connection, or paper-setting problem.

Read the nozzle-check result

  1. Print the nozzle check using the G3270’s maintenance controls.
  2. Inspect each color pattern for missing segments, gaps, or an absent color.
  3. Check the corresponding ink tank level. A tank that is empty or very low can explain a missing color; do not begin repeated cleaning without confirming that ink is available.
  4. If the nozzle pattern is complete but the document remains wrong, revisit the media type, paper size, print-quality choice, and the document’s color or grayscale settings.

Use Canon’s cleaning stages in order

When ink remains but the nozzle check is incomplete, follow Canon’s staged procedure. Run ordinary print-head cleaning first, then print another nozzle check. If the pattern remains poor, continue to the documented deep-cleaning step and print a new nozzle check again. Canon places the later ink-replacement procedure after those checks when the pattern still does not recover. Follow the exact on-screen sequence for the G3270 rather than repeating a stage indefinitely.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Do not jump directly to a replacement print head. Canon’s sequence is nozzle check, cleaning, deep cleaning, and the specified ink-replacement procedure, with a new nozzle check between stages; print-head replacement is a later remedy when the documented sequence has not resolved the pattern. The full instructions are in Ink Does Not Come Out.

Windows and macOS: when the queue or driver is the real problem

If the printer responds from its controls but a computer reports “offline,” “not found,” or does nothing, treat the computer-to-printer path as the fault domain. Confirm the G3270 is the selected printer in the application, remove stale or duplicate jobs, and verify that the installed printer entry corresponds to the current Canon driver. A printer entry that points to an old network route can remain visible while no longer reaching the physical device.

For a network-discovery failure, use Canon’s FAQ section for “Cannot Find Printer on Network (Windows/macOS).” On macOS 15 or later, also perform the Local Network permission check described above. On either operating system, test with a short text page after clearing the queue; a large photo is a poor first diagnostic because its processing delay can resemble a connection failure.

A practical decision sequence

Use this order when the symptom changes or several problems appear at once:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. Record any LCD support code and follow that code’s Canon procedure.
  2. If there is no code, confirm power, completed initialization, and the correct printer selection.
  3. Check the queue and send a one-page text test.
  4. If the printer is not discovered, choose either router Wi‑Fi or Wireless Direct and verify the matching SSID, password, range, and device permissions.
  5. If paper is not picked up, reload flat portrait paper in the rear tray, align guides, match size and media type, and inspect for obstructions.
  6. If code 1300 appears, clear the jam without tilting the printer and press OK afterward.
  7. If a page is blank or defective, verify settings, print a nozzle check, inspect the relevant tank, and proceed through Canon’s cleaning stages only as documented.
  8. Contact Canon service when proper paper still will not feed after the specified checks, or when the nozzle pattern remains defective after Canon’s complete maintenance sequence.

This order prevents a common mistake: spending ink on cleaning when the real fault is a missing network route, a blocked queue, a mismatched paper setting, or a jam.
