For U.S. residential Xfinity service, cancel by calling 1-800-934-6489, scheduling a call, or visiting an Xfinity Store. If you have NOW Internet, use its separate cancellation instructions. Before disconnecting, confirm your effective date, final charges, and equipment-return steps with Xfinity.
Choose an official cancellation route
Xfinity lists three ways to request cancellation. Pick the one that suits how you want to handle the conversation:

These are published options, not a claim that one route is the only way to cancel. Use the Xfinity cancellation page to start. In Xfinity’s words: “If you need to cancel, call us at 1-800-934-6489, schedule a call or visit an Xfinity Store.”

What to ask before ending service
When you contact Xfinity, ask the representative to confirm these account-specific details. The cancellation page lists the contact routes but does not promise a particular effective date or confirmation format.
- The date service will stop, and whether service continues through the end of the billing cycle.
- What the final bill may include, including prorated charges, equipment balances, or other amounts.
- Which rented devices must be returned and the available return methods.
- How Xfinity will document the request, such as a confirmation number or written confirmation.
If you are leaving because of a move, compare transferring service to the new address before disconnecting. If the issue is cost, review Xfinity’s options to change service or lower a bill; the cancellation page also advertises a pause option. These alternatives may fit better if you do not need to leave the service entirely.

Check contract terms and final charges
Xfinity’s Residential Services Agreement, dated January 1, 2026, says service under a minimum-term agreement may incur an early termination fee if ended before the term expires. The terms in your own agreement control. The agreement also says that customers without a minimum-term agreement may terminate by notifying Xfinity through a listed cancellation route, while allowing service to continue until the end of the billing cycle in which notice is received, subject to applicable law. Do not assume the disconnect is immediate or that a partial-month refund is automatic.
Xfinity’s cancellation FAQ says the final bill may include charges not shown on earlier bills, such as prorated amounts or equipment charges. Xfinity Home customers with an Equipment Installment Plan must pay the remaining equipment balance when disconnecting. Review the bill and your agreement for the terms that apply to your account.

Return rented equipment and keep proof
Start at Xfinity’s Digital Return Center. You can use it after disconnection, but you need an Xfinity ID and password. WiFi extenders, cameras, and Mobile products may have different return instructions, so check the device-specific directions.
Return equipment at a store
Give the equipment to a store representative. Xfinity says it removes the returned devices from your account right away and provides a receipt. Keep that receipt with your cancellation records.

Ship equipment using the prepaid UPS option
- In the Digital Return Center, select the devices you are returning and verify their serial numbers.
- Choose the prepaid shipping option and print the label.
- Return the device, remote, and power cord. Xfinity says HDMI, Ethernet, and cable wires do not need to be included for this process.
- Pack the items in the original packaging or any suitable cardboard box. A special box is not required if you already have a suitable one.
- Keep the tracking portion of the label, then drop off the package at an accepted UPS location or arrange pickup using the tracking number.
Xfinity says to allow up to two weeks for a shipped return to appear on your account. Keep the tracking information until the return is recorded.
Understand the final bill and any refund
Final charges, credits, and refund eligibility depend on your account. Xfinity says it reviews an eligible disconnected account after rented equipment is returned or 30 days have passed since disconnection. If equipment has not been returned within 30 days, unreturned-equipment charges may be added and can reduce or eliminate a credit refund.

After the requirements are met, Xfinity says an eligible closed-account refund typically arrives in 4 to 6 weeks. Any outstanding balance is applied before the remaining credit is refunded. These are Xfinity’s published timelines, not a guarantee for an individual account.
Review linked mobile, email, and streaming services
Xfinity Mobile
If you are cancelling Xfinity Mobile but want to keep your phone number, transfer the number before cancelling Mobile. Xfinity also says Mobile customers who keep Mobile without Xfinity Internet, Voice, or TV may incur a monthly fee. The amount depends on plan details, so check your current plan before disconnecting other services.
Comcast.net email and purchased titles
Xfinity says you can continue using a comcast.net email address after leaving if you logged into it during the 90 days before disconnection and then log in at least once every nine months. Purchased titles may remain available through Xfinity Stream using the primary Xfinity ID and password.

If Netflix is billed directly on X1, disconnecting all Xfinity service without updating your payment method with Netflix may eventually interrupt access. For Netflix included in a package, a previously valid payment method may keep the account active; without one, Netflix says the account may go on hold until payment is added. Check Netflix billing directly if you want to keep the subscription.
