Canada produces major video games but has relatively few large, consumer-focused gaming conventions. Video Game Live Expo (VGLX) is designed to fill that gap, with its 2026 show scheduled for October 24–25 at The International Centre in Mississauga, Ontario.
Why Canada’s gaming-event calendar feels small
Canada is an important game-development country, yet its public convention scene is less concentrated than those of the United States, Europe and Japan. Events such as PAX, Gamescom and Tokyo Game Show offer broad, dedicated video-game programming, while Canadian fans often encounter gaming as one part of a larger pop-culture convention. Fan Expo Canada, for example, includes gaming activities but is not built entirely around video games.
That distinction matters to players who want several days of playable releases, independent studios, competitive tournaments and gaming-specific community activities in one place. Jason Lepine, founder and CEO of XP Gaming, has said he was “always a little envious of the U.S. having all of their PAX events and all these game cons.” His stated goal for VGLX is a “theme park for gamers”: a convention where video games are the central attraction rather than a small zone inside a broader show.
What VGLX 2026 is
VGLX 2026 is scheduled for October 24–25, 2026, at The International Centre, 6900 Airport Road, Mississauga, Ontario. The organizer describes it as a fan-first gaming convention combining demonstrations, competition, creators and collecting.

What attendees can do at the show
Play new and independent games
The official program includes hands-on game experiences and an indie game zone. The organizer’s 2026 interview describes an expanded indie area featuring roughly 40 games. That section is intended to give smaller studios direct contact with players and give visitors a way to discover projects that may not have the marketing reach of major publishers.

Explore cards, tabletop and collectibles
VGLX is broader than a software showcase. Its schedule includes Beyblade free play and tournament activities, Pokémon programming, a trading-card pavilion and tabletop gaming. How VGLX compares with other event types
| Reader priority | What VGLX emphasizes | How to interpret it |
|---|---|---|
| Playable video games | Demos, hands-on experiences and an indie zone | More game-specific floor content than a general pop-culture convention is intended to provide |
| Esports | Electric Clash and main-stage finals | A focused tournament feature rather than a claim to match the scale of the world’s largest esports festivals |
| Indie discovery | Roughly 40 indie games described for the 2026 area | A substantial discovery section, with the final count dependent on confirmed exhibitors |
| Creators and cosplay | Creator lounge, meetups, workshops and artist alley | Community and fan participation sit alongside play sessions |
| Cards and tabletop | Trading-card pavilion, Pokémon, Beyblade and tabletop activities | Useful for mixed groups whose interests extend beyond digital games |
| Scale and access | One event at The International Centre in Mississauga | Convenient for the Toronto region; visitors should verify transport and venue logistics |
VGLX is therefore best understood as a dedicated Canadian gaming convention with a mixed program, not as a direct size-for-size equivalent of every international show. Its differentiator is concentration: games, competition and gaming communities are the organizing principle.

VGLX follows XP Gaming’s work on business-to-business gaming events and earlier Enthusiast Gaming Live Expo events. Lepine’s motivation, as described in the organizer interview, is to create a show built around fans rather than adapting a general convention’s limited gaming section.
The official exhibitor directory includes studios, artists, trading-card sellers, technology and retail companies, and esports organizations. Examples listed include Behaviour Interactive, OverActive Media, Costco Wholesale and Toronto Game Expo, along with numerous independent studios and artists. Exhibitor, guest and sponsor lists are particularly likely to change as the event approaches.
