Yes—your PC can run PlayStation games that have an official PC release, provided it meets that specific game’s requirements. If a game has no PC version, you can still access some PlayStation games through Remote Play from a PS4 or PS5, or stream supported titles through the PlayStation Plus PC app. Those options use a console or streaming service; they do not run the game locally on your PC.
What does “run PlayStation games on PC” mean?
There are three different ways to play, and the hardware requirements depend on which one you mean.
| Route | Where the game runs | What to check | Main limitation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Native PC release | On your PC | The exact game’s PC requirements and your PC’s operating system, CPU, RAM, graphics hardware, and storage | A PlayStation console purchase does not establish that a PC edition or PC license is available. Check the game’s official PC listing. |
| PS Remote Play | On a connected PS4 or PS5; the PC displays the video and sends controls over the network | Supported PC and console, PlayStation account, controller, USB connection, and network | This is remote access to a console game, not local PC execution. |
| PlayStation Plus PC app | Streamed through the PC app | App requirements, eligible account and subscription, compatible controller, broadband, and catalog availability | Only supported titles can be streamed, subject to service availability. |
For official information about PC releases and compatible peripherals, see PlayStation gaming on PC.
How to check whether your PC can run a specific PlayStation game
- Confirm the exact game and edition. Check that it has an official PC release. A PS4 or PS5 copy does not by itself include a PC version or license.
- Open the official PC requirements for that game. Note its operating system, processor, memory, graphics hardware, storage, and any stated feature or performance conditions. Requirements vary between games.
- Find your PC’s specifications. In Windows, use Settings or System Information to identify the operating system, CPU, RAM, and graphics hardware. Check available storage in File Explorer or Windows Settings.
- Compare like with like. Check each of your components against the game’s minimum requirements. If the game lists recommended specifications or performance presets, compare those too for a more useful estimate.
- Interpret the result cautiously. Minimum requirements are an entry threshold, not a personalized guarantee of a specific frame rate, resolution, or graphics setting on your computer.
- If there is no PC release, choose a different route. Use Remote Play from a PS4 or PS5 you can access, or check whether the title is available to stream in the PlayStation Plus PC app in your region.
PlayStation’s PC gaming support page points users to game-specific information. Its examples show why there is no single hardware specification for all PlayStation games on PC.

Why one PC requirement cannot cover every PlayStation game
Different games can ask for very different processors, graphics cards, memory, and storage. The performance target matters as much as the component list: a specification tied to a low-resolution, low-settings preset is not equivalent to one intended for a higher resolution or frame rate.
| Official example | Listed hardware and target |
|---|---|
| Days Gone | The PlayStation support page lists minimums including an Intel Core i5-2500K or AMD FX-6300, 8 GB RAM, and GTX 780- or Radeon R9 290-class graphics. |
| God of War Ragnarök | The listed minimum target is an average of 1080p at 30 fps, with a GTX 1060 or RX 5500 XT, Intel i5-4670K or Ryzen 3 1200, 8 GB RAM, and 190 GB SSD storage. |
| Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered | The very-low preset is listed for an average of 720p at 30 fps, with 16 GB RAM and GTX 1650 4 GB or RX 5500 XT 4 GB graphics. |
These are game-specific requirements and targets listed by PlayStation, not independent benchmark results or guarantees for another PC. Requirements can change, so check the current details for the exact title at PlayStation gaming on PC.

What if the game does not have a PC release?
Use PS Remote Play from a PS4 or PS5
Remote Play lets you control a PS5 or PS4 from a Windows PC or Mac over a network. The game continues to run on the console; the PC acts as the remote screen and controller connection. Sony’s detailed Windows instructions are for PS5 Remote Play and list these PC requirements: Windows 10 64-bit or Windows 11, a 7th-generation Intel Core processor or later, 2 GB RAM, at least 100 MB available storage, a display resolution of 1024 × 768 or higher, a sound card, and a USB port.
The Windows setup also requires a PS5, a PlayStation account, a DualSense wireless controller, and a USB cable. Sony lists 5 Mbps upload and download as the baseline connection speed and recommends at least 15 Mbps in each direction for best performance. These connection figures do not guarantee a particular latency or image quality. See Sony’s Windows Remote Play requirements and its Remote Play overview.

Stream supported titles with the PlayStation Plus PC app
The PC app streams eligible games rather than installing and running each game locally. PlayStation’s support page lists an adult PlayStation account, a compatible controller, and broadband of at least 5 Mbps. Its listed minimum app requirements are Windows 8.1 or 10, Core i3 2.0 GHz, 2 GB RAM, 300 MB available storage, a sound card, and a USB port. These figures describe the app client, not the hardware needed to run every streamed game locally. Check current app requirements, subscription terms, regional availability, and the catalog on PlayStation Plus on PC support.
How to compare native PC releases
When deciding between games—or checking whether one PC can handle a particular release—compare the specifications that affect the workload, not just the game title or console generation.
Rank #4
- POWERHOUSE 8-CORE GAMING PERFORMANCE — Driven by the AMD Ryzen 7 8700F with 8 cores and 16 threads, boosting up to 5.0 GHz for smooth, responsive gameplay and the ability to handle AAA titles, streaming, and background tasks all at once
- NEXT-GEN BLACKWELL ARCHITECTURE — The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 is powered by NVIDIA's cutting-edge Blackwell GPU architecture, delivering a massive generational leap in rasterization and ray tracing performance so you can experience your games the way they were meant to be played.
- Simplistic Design: Enjoy the latest generation of Windows 11 Home for your everyday needs. *MSI recommends Windows 11 Pro for business use.
- Cool While Gaming: In conjunction with an ARGB fan Air Cooler, the Codex R2 features four system cooling fans; three in the front and one in the rear to pull in cool air and push heat out of the PC.
- Turn on the Bright Lights: With the built-in RGB lighting, take your gaming experience to the next level by pressing the MSI LED button to cycle through lighting options. Customize lighting even further with MSI Center software.
- CPU and GPU: Match the exact models named in the requirements where possible; broad labels such as “Core i5” or “GeForce GTX” do not tell the whole story.
- RAM and storage: Check both the required capacity and whether the listing calls for an SSD. A game’s storage figure is separate from streaming-app storage.
- Operating system: Confirm the supported Windows version and any 64-bit requirement.
- Target resolution and frame rate: Compare a stated preset or target with the way you want to play. A listed average target is not a promise for every scene or system.
- Additional features: Check for extra requirements such as a graphics API or other specified capability.
Do not use the modest client requirements for Remote Play or the PlayStation Plus app as a substitute for native-game requirements. The former describe a PC receiving video or streaming a game; the latter describe a game running on the PC itself.

Controllers and other practical details
A controller is optional for many native PC games; input options vary by title. PlayStation lists the DualSense wireless controller among PC-compatible peripherals, and its Windows Remote Play setup names the controller and a USB cable. Whether you need a particular cable or connection depends on the setup. An Ethernet connection may be useful for Remote Play, but it does not guarantee a particular network performance.
