No—not locally, based on NVIDIA’s published information as of October 13, 2026. NVIDIA has announced a Hogwarts Legacy update scheduled for November 5, 2026, but the announcement names GeForce RTX 50 Series graphics cards for local DLSS 5 support. It does not announce compatibility with AMD or Intel GPUs.
You may be able to access the feature through GeForce NOW because NVIDIA lists that service as a supported route. In that case, the game is rendered on a remote NVIDIA system; your AMD or Intel GPU is only handling the streamed image. That is different from running DLSS 5 on your own graphics card.

What is supported when the Hogwarts Legacy update arrives?
NVIDIA says “NVIDIA DLSS 5 with 3D-Guided Neural Rendering is coming to Hogwarts Legacy on November 5th, for GeForce RTX 50 Series, GeForce NOW, and RTX Spark.” This is a scheduled feature announcement, not confirmation that the update is already available. The date and platform list are the clearest compatibility information currently published.

Therefore, an AMD or Intel card is not an announced local DLSS 5 target. The responsible answer is “not currently supported or confirmed,” rather than an absolute claim that support can never happen. NVIDIA could publish additional compatibility information later.

Why an AMD or Intel GPU cannot be assumed to run local DLSS 5
DLSS 5 is an NVIDIA technology integrated into the game’s rendering pipeline. NVIDIA describes the Hogwarts Legacy feature as 3D-Guided Neural Rendering: the game supplies its rendered frame and scene information, and the neural-rendering stage modifies lighting and materials before the final image is presented. This is an integration between the game, the feature’s software, and the supported graphics platform.
The announcement names GeForce RTX 50 Series for local use. It does not provide an AMD compatibility list, an Intel compatibility list, a generic DirectX requirement that would make every modern GPU eligible, or a driver workaround that enables the feature on another vendor’s card. Without one of those statements, installing a newer AMD or Intel driver cannot be treated as a way to activate DLSS 5.
Buying or updating the PC version of Hogwarts Legacy also does not by itself provide DLSS 5. The game license determines whether you can play; GPU support determines which rendering features can run locally. Those are separate decisions.
What NVIDIA says DLSS 5 does
NVIDIA positions DLSS 5 as a neural-rendering stage rather than simply another name for upscaling. The company distinguishes neural rendering from DLSS technologies that reconstruct a lower-resolution image, generate additional frames, or improve ray-traced lighting. The Hogwarts Legacy announcement does not say that DLSS 5 replaces all of those technologies or that it works identically to them.
NVIDIA’s October 2026 announcement reports that the new model has roughly 118 million parameters and uses 20% less 4K video memory than the previous version. NVIDIA also says it has half the GPU overhead of the September version while maintaining comparable visual fidelity. These are vendor-reported model comparisons. They are not a Hogwarts Legacy minimum specification, a guarantee for every RTX 50 Series card, or an independent performance benchmark.

Because the update is scheduled rather than released at the time of the announcement, practical image quality, frame-rate impact, configuration controls and game-specific limitations still need to be checked after November 5.
Can GeForce NOW let you use DLSS 5 with AMD or Intel hardware?
Potentially, but the result would be cloud rendering rather than local compatibility. GeForce NOW runs the game on a remote computer and sends a video stream to your device. The remote system, not the AMD or Intel GPU inside your PC, performs the game’s rendering work. Your local hardware decodes the stream and displays it.

NVIDIA includes GeForce NOW in the DLSS 5 platform list, but the reviewed announcement does not identify the required membership tier, countries or regions, game-session configuration, network requirements, or supported client hardware. Do not infer those details from the existence of the platform listing.
How to verify the cloud route after release
- Wait until the Hogwarts Legacy update is released on November 5, 2026, or until NVIDIA posts a revised availability notice.
- Check NVIDIA’s current GeForce NOW game and feature information for your country. Confirm that Hogwarts Legacy is available through the service you intend to use.
- Look for a statement that DLSS 5 is enabled for the specific cloud version or server configuration. A normal “Hogwarts Legacy available” listing does not, by itself, prove that the DLSS 5 feature is active.
- Review the service’s current plan and client requirements before subscribing. The announcement does not establish which plan is required.
- During a session, inspect the game’s graphics options or the service’s published feature status. If DLSS 5 is absent, you are still playing the cloud copy without that feature, regardless of the GPU installed in your own PC.
This route can be useful if your computer has an AMD or Intel GPU and you have a suitable internet connection, but it should be described as accessing an NVIDIA-rendered stream, not as making an AMD or Intel card DLSS 5-compatible.
What AMD support does Hogwarts Legacy have?
AMD’s supported-games page lists Hogwarts Legacy under games supporting FSR Frame Generation. That establishes an AMD FSR path for the title, subject to the game’s implementation, driver conditions and hardware requirements for that particular FSR feature.

- This edition of Hogwarts Legacy has been enhanced for Nintendo Switch 2, including Joy-Con 2 mouse sensor support, improved graphics, audio, load times, and controls.
- Hogwarts Legacy is an immersive, open-world action RPG set in the world first introduced in the Harry Potter books. Take control of the action and be at the center of your own adventure in the wizarding world.
- Experience Hogwarts in the 1800s. Make allies, battle Dark wizards, and ultimately decide the fate of the wizarding world. Your legacy is what you make of it. Live the Unwritten.
FSR Frame Generation and DLSS 5 are not interchangeable names for the same technology. FSR is AMD’s feature family; DLSS 5 is NVIDIA’s 3D-Guided Neural Rendering technology. A game listing for FSR does not enable DLSS 5, and it does not show that every AMD GPU supports every FSR mode.
| Question | DLSS 5 | AMD FSR Frame Generation |
|---|---|---|
| Vendor associated with the feature | NVIDIA | AMD |
| What the Hogwarts Legacy announcement or listing establishes | Scheduled for RTX 50 Series, GeForce NOW and RTX Spark | Hogwarts Legacy appears on AMD’s FSR Frame Generation supported-games page |
| Does one feature activate the other? | No | No |
| Does the listing prove support on every GPU from that vendor? | No complete model matrix is supplied | No; AMD notes that feature and driver support can vary by technology and hardware |
| Where the feature is calculated | Locally on a named NVIDIA platform, or remotely through a listed cloud route | According to the game’s AMD-supported implementation and applicable hardware |
If you own an AMD card, FSR Frame Generation is the specifically documented feature to investigate in Hogwarts Legacy. It may improve the experience on an eligible system, but it should not be marketed or configured as DLSS 5.
What about Intel GPUs?
No Intel GPU compatibility matrix for Hogwarts Legacy DLSS 5 is provided in the published information. The NVIDIA announcement does not name Intel graphics for local support, and the available FAQ snippet does not add an Intel exception.
An Intel-powered PC can still run the game only according to the game’s ordinary system requirements and the rendering options exposed for that hardware. Those requirements and any Intel-specific DLSS 5 path are not supplied here. Check the final game update notes and the in-game graphics menu after release rather than assuming that a feature listed for RTX 50 Series will appear on an Intel card.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Should you buy a new GPU for this feature?
Do not choose a graphics-card upgrade solely from the DLSS 5 announcement. NVIDIA has not published complete Hogwarts Legacy system requirements for DLSS 5, a model-by-model RTX 50 Series table, or independent performance tests comparing AMD, Intel and NVIDIA hardware in this game.

The reported 118-million-parameter model size and 20% lower 4K VRAM use describe NVIDIA’s model update. They do not tell you how much video memory your particular game settings require, what frame rate you will obtain, or whether your processor, power supply, cooling and display will become the limiting factors.
Choose a local GPU using the complete set of games and applications you need, your target resolution and frame rate, and confirmed driver support. Treat DLSS 5 as an announced feature for a named NVIDIA platform, not as sufficient evidence for a purchase.
What could change after November 5, 2026?
NVIDIA’s September FAQ search snippet says the company plans to work on GeForce RTX 40 Series support after tuning performance on RTX 50 Series. That is an intention, not a release date or a confirmation that RTX 40 Series support will ship. The snippet says nothing about AMD or Intel compatibility.
After the scheduled update date, check NVIDIA’s release notes and the game’s own patch notes for three separate facts: whether the update shipped, which local GPU families are enabled, and whether the cloud listing has specific plan or regional limits. Keep those questions separate; an RTX 40 announcement would not automatically establish support for AMD or Intel.
Quick decision guide
| Your situation | Most accurate conclusion | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| You have an AMD GPU and want local DLSS 5 | No support has been announced | Use the game’s documented AMD FSR options if your hardware qualifies; recheck official announcements for any future change |
| You have an Intel GPU and want local DLSS 5 | No support has been announced or documented | Wait for a specific Intel compatibility statement; do not infer one from general game availability |
| You have an AMD or Intel GPU but are willing to stream | GeForce NOW is a named route, but details are unspecified | Verify regional availability, plan requirements and DLSS 5 status after the update |
| You have an RTX 50 Series card | It is the announced local GPU family | Install the Hogwarts Legacy update when released and check the final in-game feature controls |
| You are considering an upgrade purely for DLSS 5 | Evidence is incomplete for a purchase decision | Wait for final requirements and independent testing, and evaluate your broader workload |
Bottom line
As of October 13, 2026, you cannot count on running DLSS 5 locally in Hogwarts Legacy with an AMD or Intel GPU. NVIDIA’s scheduled November 5 update names GeForce RTX 50 Series for local support, while GeForce NOW offers a possible cloud-rendering route whose plan, regional and client details have not been published. AMD owners have a separately documented FSR Frame Generation option; that feature does not turn an AMD card into a DLSS 5 device. Intel compatibility remains unannounced.
