Yes, but not with the same guitar on every platform. Epic’s published Fortnite Festival compatibility table lists specific PlayStation guitars for PS4 and PS5, Xbox guitars for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, and selected Xbox guitars for Windows PC. It lists no guitar controller for Nintendo Switch, so official Switch guitar support is not confirmed by that table.
You do not need a guitar to play Pro Lead or Pro Bass. Fortnite Festival also accepts keyboard and mouse controls, a standard gamepad, controller-to-keyboard remapping, and accessibility devices that can send the same inputs.
Official compatibility at a glance
Fortnite Festival runs inside Fortnite, which is available on PC, PlayStation 4/5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch. That game availability does not mean that one guitar peripheral works across all of those systems. Guitar controllers generally use platform-specific wireless protocols, console authentication and firmware.

Epic published this detailed matrix with the Fortnite Festival Season 3 launch in April 2024. Epic’s May 2024 v30.00 update then documented ways to play Pro Lead and Pro Bass without a guitar. A current Epic Player Support article describes supported input categories in general but does not provide a newer, model-by-model matrix. Treat the table as Epic’s published compatibility list, not as a guarantee that every later hardware revision, firmware version or adapter combination has been tested.
PlayStation: use a PlayStation-version guitar
PlayStation RIFFMASTER
Epic lists the PlayStation RIFFMASTER for PlayStation. PlayStation Direct describes its PlayStation model as compatible with PS5, PS4, Fortnite Festival and Rock Band 4, and lists a wireless dongle and charging cable among the package contents. Choose the PlayStation model rather than the Xbox model when shopping for a console.
Rock Band 4 Fender guitars for PS4
Epic’s table also names the Rock Band 4 Rivals Fender Jaguar for PS4 and the Rock Band 4 Fender Stratocaster for PS4. The “for PS4” designation matters: it identifies the console ecosystem for which Epic lists the guitar. Do not assume that an identically styled guitar made for Xbox will pair with a PlayStation console.
On PS5, the safest reading of Epic’s table is that the PlayStation RIFFMASTER is the explicitly listed current option. The two Fender models are identified as PS4 guitars; compatibility with a particular PS5 setup should be checked against the guitar maker’s current documentation rather than inferred from the name alone.

Xbox: Xbox One and Series consoles share the listed models
For Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, Epic lists the Xbox RIFFMASTER, Xbox One Rock Band 4 Fender Jaguar and Xbox One Rock Band 4 Fender Stratocaster. Select the Xbox-labeled version of a guitar. A PlayStation RIFFMASTER or PS4 Fender guitar is not interchangeable merely because the game itself is available on both console families.

Epic groups Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S together in its compatibility table. That establishes the models Epic listed for those platforms, but it does not promise that an unlisted third-party guitar, a modified controller or an old wireless receiver will work.
PC: the Xbox models work, but the adapter requirement matters
Xbox RIFFMASTER
Epic lists the Xbox RIFFMASTER for PC. The table does not attach the Xbox One Wireless Adapter requirement to this model, so do not automatically assume that the adapter is needed for the RIFFMASTER. Follow the connection instructions supplied with the guitar and your Windows version.
Xbox One Rock Band 4 Fender Jaguar and Stratocaster
Both Xbox One Rock Band 4 Fender models are listed for PC, with a specific condition: Microsoft’s Xbox One Wireless Adapter for Windows 10 is required. A PC with Bluetooth or a generic wireless dongle is not the same thing as that adapter. If Windows cannot detect the guitar, verify that the Microsoft adapter is connected and recognized before changing Fortnite settings.

If you are using another Windows release, check current Microsoft and guitar-manufacturer support information for driver and adapter behavior instead of assuming that the Windows 10 instruction covers every configuration.
Nintendo Switch: the game works, but Epic does not confirm a guitar
Nintendo Switch is a supported Fortnite platform, and Switch players can access Fortnite Festival. However, Epic’s published guitar table contains no Switch guitar model. The evidence therefore supports a narrower conclusion than “guitars never work on Switch”: Epic’s official list reviewed here does not confirm a Switch-compatible guitar controller.
Unofficial USB adapters, converters or community workarounds may exist, but their behavior can depend on the adapter, firmware, game update and controller mode. They are outside Epic’s listed compatibility and should not be treated as an officially supported purchase. If you play on Switch, plan on using a standard controller or keyboard-and-mouse setup where available rather than buying a guitar on the assumption that it will be recognized.
You can play Pro Lead and Pro Bass without a guitar
A physical guitar is optional on every platform. In its v30.00 update, Epic said: “The ability to play Pro Lead and Pro Bass on any console platform or on PC, even without a supported guitar controller.” Epic added keyboard-and-mouse keybinds for fretting and strumming, so the guitar-style parts do not require a specialized peripheral.
Epic’s support material identifies keyboard and mouse, standard controllers and guitar controllers as supported input categories. It also says controller-to-keyboard remapping and accessibility devices can use the same inputs. That gives Switch players a supported way to participate even though Epic’s guitar matrix does not list a Switch guitar.
Keyboard and mouse
Open Fortnite’s control settings and assign the available Pro Lead or Pro Bass fret and strum actions to keyboard keys. The exact key layout is a preference: choose positions that let you move between fret inputs and strum comfortably, then practice in a song or mode where you can adjust the bindings.
Standard controller
Use the controller mapping offered by Fortnite for the console or PC gamepad. A standard controller will not feel identical to a five-button guitar, but it lets you play the Pro parts without purchasing hardware that may not match your platform.
Accessibility and remapping devices
Players who use an adaptive controller or another accessibility device can configure it to send the keyboard or controller inputs that Fortnite expects. Epic’s statement concerns the inputs, not a specific brand of adaptive hardware, so confirm that your device can output the required fret and strum commands.

- Start with the platform label. For PS4 or PS5, choose a PlayStation-labeled guitar. For Xbox One or Series X|S, choose an Xbox-labeled guitar. For PC, use one of the Xbox models Epic lists.
- Check the exact model name. “RIFFMASTER,” “Fender Jaguar” and “Fender Stratocaster” are not interchangeable labels. Epic’s list is model-specific.
- Confirm the PC connection method. The Xbox One Rock Band 4 Fender guitars require Microsoft’s Xbox One Wireless Adapter for Windows 10 according to Epic’s table. Include that requirement in your setup plan.
- Match the console generation wording. The Fender guitars in Epic’s list are identified as PS4 or Xbox One models. Do not infer support for a different hardware revision from a similar product name.
- Check what is in the box. The PlayStation Direct listing for the PlayStation RIFFMASTER identifies a wireless dongle and charging cable. Verify package contents for the exact regional listing and model you intend to buy.
- Look for current documentation. Epic’s detailed matrix dates from 2024, while its newer support summary is generic. Review the latest game, platform and manufacturer notes for changes before purchasing used or newly revised hardware.
Basic setup procedure
On PlayStation or Xbox
- Turn on the console and install the latest available Fortnite update.
- Connect the guitar’s receiver or pair the guitar according to its platform-specific instructions.
- Sign in to the console profile that will play Fortnite Festival.
- Launch Fortnite, enter Festival and select a song with a Pro Lead or Pro Bass part.
- Check that the game responds to fret and strum inputs before starting a full performance.
On Windows PC
- Connect the guitar’s receiver. For an Xbox One Rock Band 4 Fender Jaguar or Stratocaster, use Microsoft’s Xbox One Wireless Adapter for Windows 10 as required by Epic.
- Allow Windows to finish detecting the adapter and controller before opening Fortnite.
- Launch Fortnite and verify the guitar appears as an available input when you enter Festival.
- Test the fret and strum controls in a song before changing bindings or troubleshooting gameplay.
These steps describe the order that prevents the most common detection issue—opening the game before Windows or the console has paired the controller. They do not replace the model’s own pairing instructions, which can differ between revisions.

Troubleshooting when the guitar is not recognized
The guitar has power but Fortnite does not respond
- Confirm that the guitar is labeled for the platform you are using; a PlayStation and Xbox version are different products.
- Reconnect the receiver, restart the console or PC, and pair the guitar again using the manufacturer’s procedure.
- On PC, verify the Microsoft Xbox One Wireless Adapter when using either Xbox One Rock Band 4 Fender model. A generic Bluetooth connection does not satisfy Epic’s stated adapter requirement.
- Install available platform, Fortnite and controller firmware updates, then test again.
The guitar works in the operating system but not in Festival
- Close other programs that may be capturing controller input.
- Launch Fortnite after the guitar or receiver is connected.
- Check the game’s input and keybind settings, and remove conflicting bindings if a fret or strum action is assigned twice.
- Test a standard controller or keyboard binding. If those work while the guitar does not, the issue is likely pairing, model support or the adapter rather than Festival access itself.
A Switch setup uses an adapter
Because Epic does not list a Switch guitar, an adapter-based setup is outside the confirmed compatibility table. Check the adapter maker’s firmware notes and return policy, and do not treat a temporary connection as proof of ongoing support after a Fortnite or Switch update.
What Epic’s statements do—and do not—establish
Epic’s April 2024 Season 3 announcement said: “You can now use your Rock Band 4 guitar controllers to go all out on new Pro Lead and Pro Bass song parts on the Main Stage on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC!” That statement establishes the three named platform families in that update. It does not add Nintendo Switch to the guitar list.
The May 2024 v30.00 wording establishes that Pro Lead and Pro Bass can be played without a supported guitar on any console platform or PC. The current general support article confirms the broad input categories but supplies no newer detailed list of guitar models. No official source cited here provides a percentage of supported devices, latency measurement, sales figure or guarantee for every hardware revision.
Practical buying decision
- Buying for PS4 or PS5: choose the PlayStation RIFFMASTER when you want the clearest explicitly listed current option; the PS4 Fender Jaguar and Stratocaster are also named by Epic for PS4.
- Buying for Xbox One or Series X|S: choose the Xbox RIFFMASTER or one of the Xbox One Rock Band 4 Fender models listed by Epic.
- Buying for PC: the Xbox RIFFMASTER is listed, while either Xbox One Rock Band 4 Fender model adds the Microsoft Xbox One Wireless Adapter for Windows 10 to the requirements.
- Playing on Switch: do not buy a guitar expecting official support from Epic’s published list. Use a standard controller, keyboard-and-mouse controls where supported, or an accessibility device configured for the game’s inputs.
The result is a platform-matching decision, not a universal guitar-controller purchase. Fortnite Festival itself is available on all four platforms in the question, but Epic’s named guitar support covers PlayStation, Xbox and PC—not Nintendo Switch in the published matrix.
