Yes—if you have an Osmo Pocket 3. DJI documents a built-in Webcam mode that sends the Pocket 3’s camera feed to a computer over USB-C. You connect the camera, tap Webcam on its screen, then choose the DJI camera in a compatible calling, recording, or streaming application. This does not establish that every DJI Pocket model works as a webcam: DJI’s current documentation names Pocket 3, while Pocket 2 guidance covers computer file transfer rather than webcam mode.
Which DJI Pocket cameras are documented as webcams?
DJI’s official guide says, “Osmo Pocket 3 can work as a webcam.” The process uses the camera’s USB-C connection and a USB Video Class (UVC) webcam interface, so the computer can receive the camera as a video input without an HDMI capture device.
That model-specific wording matters. DJI’s current Osmo webcam support article lists Osmo Pocket 3 and Osmo Pocket 4 among supported Osmo products, along with several Osmo Action models. It does not list Pocket 2. DJI’s Pocket 2 FAQ explains how to connect the camera to a computer with a Type-C cable to view and export photos and videos, but that is file-transfer guidance, not a documented webcam mode. The most accurate description is therefore that Pocket 2 webcam use is not documented by DJI in the available support material; it is not proof that every unofficial method will fail.
| Model or group | Documented webcam mode | Computer connection described by DJI | DJI-listed software support |
|---|---|---|---|
| Osmo Pocket 3 | Yes; select Webcam on the camera | USB-C cable to the computer | Windows: VooV (Tencent) Meeting, OBS Studio, PotPlayer. macOS: Photo Booth |
| Osmo Pocket 4 | Listed by DJI’s current Osmo webcam article | Use the connection and mode described in the current DJI support page | Check DJI’s live compatibility details |
| Pocket 2 | Not documented in the reviewed DJI material | Type-C connection for viewing and exporting files | No DJI-listed webcam application support in the reviewed material |
| Other Osmo products | DJI’s list also names Osmo Action 6, Action 5 Pro, Action 4, Action 3, and DJI Action 2 | Varies by product; consult DJI’s current article | Operating-system and application support varies |
DJI can change this compatibility list as firmware, operating systems, and applications change. Treat the live DJI support article as the authority for a model purchased after the list was published.

What you need for Pocket 3 webcam use
- An Osmo Pocket 3 that is powered on.
- A USB-C cable that supports data transfer, not merely charging. DJI’s general instructions do not specify a cable brand, model, data rate, or maximum length.
- A computer with a supported operating-system and application combination.
- An application that exposes a camera-source selector, such as the DJI-listed programs.
The Pocket 3 does not require an HDMI adapter for the documented method. Webcam mode is a direct USB connection in which the camera presents itself as a UVC video device.
How to connect an Osmo Pocket 3 as a webcam
- Power on the camera. Wait until the Pocket 3 has finished starting and the live camera view is visible.
- Connect the camera to the computer. Use the USB-C port and a USB-C data cable. A cable that only carries power will not provide the webcam connection.
- Choose Webcam on the Pocket 3 screen. The camera’s on-screen mode selection is required; simply plugging in the camera does not by itself select webcam mode.
- Open the computer application. In the application’s video or camera settings, select the DJI camera when a source list is available. DJI specifically documents VooV (Tencent) Meeting, OBS Studio, and PotPlayer on Windows, and Photo Booth on macOS.
- Preview the feed before starting a call or recording. Confirm that the application shows the Pocket 3 rather than a built-in laptop camera or another connected device.
If your application is not one of DJI’s named examples, it may still recognize a standard UVC camera, but DJI’s application list is not a guarantee that every calling, meeting, or streaming program will detect the Pocket 3.
Pocket 3 settings available in Webcam mode
The Pocket 3 guide identifies several controls that remain available while the camera is acting as a webcam:
Rank #2
- Capture Stunning Footage - Osmo Pocket 3 vlogging camera features a 1-inch CMOS sensor and records in 4K resolution at an impressive 120fps. Capture breathtaking night views and sunsets with enhanced clarity.

- Fast and Accurate Focusing - Osmo Pocket 3 digital camera locks onto your subject for sharp, clear footage. Whether filming action-packed scenes or still shots, it ensures every detail is captured.
- Exposure: adjust how bright or dark the feed appears.
- White balance: correct the color for the lighting in the room.
- Focus mode: choose the available focus behavior for your scene.
- Glamour Effects: apply the camera’s supported appearance effects.
The Shutter/Record button can start recording. After you leave Webcam mode, recorded video can be played back on the camera. This makes it possible to capture a local clip while using the live feed, but the reviewed DJI material does not define a webcam-mode maximum resolution or frame rate. Do not assume that the Pocket 3’s highest standalone recording specification is also its USB webcam output specification.
Windows and macOS application support
Windows
DJI’s webcam article names VooV (Tencent) Meeting, OBS Studio, and PotPlayer for Windows. In each program, look for the camera or video-input menu and choose the DJI device after Webcam mode is active. Menu wording can differ between application versions, so the important sequence is to select Webcam on the camera first and then choose the DJI source in the program.
macOS
Photo Booth is the macOS application DJI explicitly lists. DJI also states that Mac Pro and iMac use is supported for the listed devices, while MacBook support is qualified by a compatibility list and macOS version. If a Mac connection is unstable or the camera does not appear, DJI recommends updating macOS and checking compatibility rather than assuming that every MacBook generation behaves the same way.

Because application and operating-system support can change, a successful setup in one release is not a permanent promise for every future release. Check DJI’s current compatibility article when changing computers, upgrading macOS, or troubleshooting a previously reliable setup.
USB webcam versus HDMI output
USB webcam mode and HDMI capture are different connection methods. DJI says the Osmo devices covered by its guidance do not support HDMI output or a Type-C-to-HDMI adapter. Consequently, an HDMI adapter or capture card is not an official Pocket 3 workaround for this use case.
For a documented setup, connect the Pocket 3 by USB-C and select Webcam on the camera. A capture card can only accept a signal that the camera actually outputs; DJI’s stated HDMI limitation means there is no official HDMI signal to feed into one.

What to check when the computer does not see the camera
The camera shows no webcam option
Confirm that the model is an Osmo Pocket 3. Pocket 2’s documented Type-C function is file transfer, and DJI does not list Pocket 2 in the current Osmo webcam article. On a Pocket 3, reconnect the cable and look for the Webcam choice on the camera display after power-up.
The camera is charging but not recognized
The cable may provide power without carrying data. Replace it with a USB-C cable explicitly rated for data transfer, then reconnect the powered-on camera. DJI does not require a particular cable model, so the relevant property is data capability rather than branding.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteThe application opens the wrong camera
Open the application’s video-source selector and choose the DJI camera manually. Computers commonly have several available cameras, including a built-in webcam and external devices. Selecting the source in the application is a separate step from selecting Webcam on the Pocket 3.

The feed works in one program but not another
DJI’s named applications are the documented compatibility examples, not an exhaustive promise for every program. Check whether the other application supports UVC camera inputs and whether it provides a camera-source menu. Also verify that the Pocket 3 is still in Webcam mode when the application starts its preview.
A Mac connection is unstable
Check the Mac model and macOS version against DJI’s compatibility information. DJI specifically recommends updating macOS when webcam malfunctions occur. Mac Pro and iMac support is stated for the listed devices; MacBook support depends on the compatibility list and operating-system version.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Can Pocket 2 be used as a webcam?
There is no DJI-documented webcam procedure for Pocket 2 in the reviewed support material. The Pocket 2 FAQ documents connecting by Type-C to view and export photos and videos, which establishes computer file transfer but not live camera input. DJI’s current Osmo webcam list names Pocket 3 and does not name Pocket 2.
If Pocket 2 is your camera, do not follow Pocket 3 instructions expecting the same on-screen Webcam option. You can use the documented Type-C connection for file management, but a live webcam workflow would be outside the DJI-supported procedure described here. Avoid presenting an unofficial workaround as a DJI-supported feature.
How to choose between Pocket 3 webcam mode and another camera
| Question | What the documented information establishes | Practical decision |
|---|---|---|
| Does the camera have a named Webcam mode? | Yes for Pocket 3; not documented for Pocket 2 | Choose Pocket 3 when you need a DJI-supported webcam workflow |
| How does it connect? | USB-C data connection for Pocket 3 | Use a data-capable USB-C cable and avoid HDMI assumptions |
| Which apps are named? | Windows: VooV Meeting, OBS Studio, PotPlayer; macOS: Photo Booth | Start with a DJI-listed application, then test other UVC-compatible software |
| What webcam resolution or frame rate is guaranteed? | Not stated in the reviewed Pocket 3 webcam guide | Do not promise a particular output specification without checking current DJI documentation |
| What happens with Pocket 2? | DJI documents file export, not webcam mode | Treat webcam compatibility as unconfirmed |
Limits you should understand before relying on it
- Model limits: “DJI Pocket camera” is too broad a category. The documented webcam answer is for Osmo Pocket 3.
- Software limits: DJI names specific applications and operating systems; recognition by every video-call service is not guaranteed.
- Output-spec limits: the reviewed guide does not state webcam resolution or frame rate, so those figures should not be inferred from the camera’s other recording modes.
- Connection limits: DJI does not support HDMI output or a USB-C-to-HDMI adapter for the cited Osmo devices.
- Compatibility changes: macOS versions, MacBook models, firmware, and application releases can alter behavior. Recheck DJI’s current support list after major updates.
Bottom line for common questions
If the question is “Can I use my Osmo Pocket 3 as a webcam?”, the answer is yes: connect it by USB-C, tap Webcam on the camera, and select it in a compatible computer application. If the question is “Can Pocket 2 work as a webcam?”, DJI’s available documentation does not establish that feature; it only documents Type-C file transfer. For the supported method, use a data-capable USB-C cable and rely on the current DJI compatibility list rather than an HDMI adapter or an assumed resolution specification.
