Apple documents how to request a blur for your own house in Apple Maps, but it does not publish a self-service control, reversal form, approval policy, or completion time for removing an existing blur. If your home is already blurred and you want the imagery restored, contact Apple through the same Maps privacy or Image Collection channels, identify the property and the Look Around imagery, and ask whether Apple will review the request. Apple may decline, and its public materials do not promise that an approved reversal will be completed.
What an Apple Maps house blur actually covers
The blur applies to Look Around, Apple Maps’ street-level panoramic imagery. It is an image treatment applied to Apple’s published view of a location; it does not alter the building, public property records, satellite imagery, real-estate photographs, social-media posts, or photographs held by other organizations.
Look Around is not available in every country or region. If a location has no Look Around coverage, there is no Apple street-level panorama to report or restore. On the web, you can check a location at maps.apple.com. In the Mac app, Apple says to select a location and click the Look Around button in the lower-left of the map.

How to request that your house be blurred
Apple’s privacy documentation confirms that reports can include requests to obscure a home in Look Around imagery. The exact controls can change by platform, software version, language, or region, but the process follows the same sequence.

- Open the map. Use Apple Maps or
maps.apple.comand search for the property. Enter Look Around so you are viewing the street-level panorama rather than only the standard map or satellite layer. - Open the imagery report control. Look for the report or feedback control attached to the Look Around image. If you are on a Mac, first select the location and choose Look Around from the lower-left control.
- Choose the privacy category. Current walkthroughs describe the choices as Privacy Concerns followed by Obscure imagery of my home. Wording can differ in another region or app release; select the option that clearly concerns a private residence.
- Identify the exact property. Provide the street address and any other location details Apple requests. If several buildings are close together, explain which structure should be obscured and, if possible, describe the camera direction or portion of the panorama.
- Enter contact details and submit. Apple may request an email address or other contact information so it can handle the report. Review the map position and comments before sending the report.
If the in-product report is missing or fails, Apple’s Image Collection information says you may contact Apple to request that your own house be blurred. The current contact shown on Apple’s official Image Collection locations page is MapsImageCollection@apple.com. In the message, include the full address, a link or other description of the Look Around location, the direction or imagery that contains the home, and a concise explanation that you are requesting a privacy blur.
Information that makes a blur request easier to process
- Full street address, including city, state or province, postal code, and country.
- The Apple Maps location or a precise description of the map position.
- Which Look Around panorama, street side, building, or camera direction shows the home.
- A short explanation that you are requesting a blur for your own residence.
- A reachable email address for follow-up, if Apple asks for one.
Do not send unnecessary identity documents, photographs of other people, or unrelated personal information. Provide only what is needed to identify the property and process the privacy request.
Can an existing Apple Maps blur be removed?
Apple has not published a corresponding “unblur” button or a standard reversal procedure. Its public materials clearly describe requesting a blur, but they do not promise that an already-obscured house can be restored, who approves a reversal, or how long a review takes. That does not prove Apple will never reverse a blur; it means that restoration is discretionary and undocumented publicly.

If you changed your mind, use the same privacy route rather than submitting a new ordinary map correction. Explain that the property is already blurred, state that you are asking Apple to review removal of that blur, and provide enough information to distinguish the affected imagery from any newer or nearby panorama. Ask Apple to confirm whether restoration is possible for that specific image.

What Apple may collect when you report imagery
Apple says a report about blurring Look Around imagery may be associated with your Apple Account or email address. The report can include the map view, zoom level, a recent search term, location, viewing direction, comments, and uploaded photos. Apple says some account-associated report information may be stored for up to two years to understand reporting trends and maintain service integrity.
That data handling means a privacy report is not necessarily anonymous. Before submitting, remove comments or attachments that reveal more about your household than Apple needs to identify the image. If you are contacting Apple by email, assume the message and its attachments will be retained under Apple’s applicable privacy practices.

How Apple handles faces, license plates, and unblurred imagery
Apple’s Image Collection privacy document says faces and license plates are blurred before any imagery is published. It also says Apple does not share unblurred data with third parties. Those statements describe Apple’s image-collection and publication practices; they do not mean every photograph elsewhere on the internet will be blurred.

The same document explains that requests to access or delete unblurred imagery are handled by Apple when the requester supplies useful location information and, preferably, a 15-minute window for when the collection occurred. That timing detail is most useful when you are asking about imagery captured during Apple’s collection process, not when you are simply asking for a published Look Around house blur to be reversed.
What a blur does—and does not—remove
- It covers the selected Apple Look Around view. The treatment applies to the published street-level imagery Apple identifies in its system.
- It does not erase the property. The physical building, address, land records, planning documents, and other public records remain available from their respective sources.
- It does not remove satellite or aerial imagery. Look Around and overhead imagery are different products and may have different update schedules and privacy controls.
- It does not remove unrelated photographs. Real-estate listings, news images, user-uploaded photographs, and other mapping services require separate requests to their operators.
- It may not cover future captures automatically. Apple says it may periodically revisit and re-collect locations to keep Maps current. If a later panorama shows the home again, inspect that imagery and contact Apple again if necessary.
Troubleshooting a missing or unsuccessful request
The Look Around button is not visible
Look Around coverage is limited by country and region. Try another supported viewpoint on the same street, verify that you selected a street-level location rather than a satellite view, and check the web version at maps.apple.com. If no Look Around imagery exists, you cannot submit a report against that panorama.

The privacy option is not listed
Reporting labels can vary by app version, language, and location. Open the report control from the imagery itself, look for a privacy-related category, and choose the option describing a home or private residence. If the control remains unavailable, email Apple’s Image Collection team at MapsImageCollection@apple.com with the address and imagery details.
The report will not submit
Check that the address is complete, required contact fields are filled, and any attached image is in a supported format and does not contain unnecessary personal information. Retry from a stable connection or use the email route. Keep a copy of what you sent so you can describe the original request if Apple follows up.
The home is still visible after you submitted
Apple does not publish a standard turnaround time. Confirm that you are viewing the same panorama and camera direction you reported; a different date, street side, or nearby road can show a separate image. If the same imagery remains unchanged, send a concise follow-up through the original channel, repeating the address and identifying the exact view.

You want the blur removed after it was applied
Contact Apple rather than trying to alter the image yourself. State that the home is already blurred and that you are requesting a review for restoration. Include the property address, the affected Look Around view, and a reliable contact address. Apple’s public documentation does not promise that it will approve or complete this request.

Removing a privacy treatment can make a residence easier to identify in a public street-level panorama. Consider whether the original reason for the blur still applies, whether other occupants agree, and whether the address has changed hands. Once imagery is restored, it may be visible to anyone with access to Look Around until Apple changes it again. If your concern is that the blur is inaccurate rather than that you want the image public, tell Apple that the request is a correction and explain what part of the panorama is affected.

Bottom line
Apple provides a documented path to blur your own house in Look Around, including an in-product privacy report and an Image Collection email contact when the control is unavailable. It does not provide a public unblur control or promise that a reversed blur will be approved. If restoration is important, make a specific request through Apple’s privacy channels, include precise location and imagery details, and treat the result as a case-by-case decision rather than a guaranteed service.
