Switch 2 demo-save transfer is not confirmed by the official guidance available. SEGA says the original Metaphor: ReFantazio Prologue Demo save can carry into the full game on the earlier editions, but that does not establish that a Switch 2 demo save will transfer to the Switch 2 game. Nintendo lists the Switch 2 edition for release on November 12, 2026. Keep your demo save and check current ATLUS or SEGA instructions when the game is available.
What the official transfer instructions confirm
SEGA’s FAQ, updated October 7, 2024, says save data from the original Prologue Demo can be used to continue the full game with the same story and character status. It says the full game can detect the demo save and offer the option when you start it. Read SEGA’s FAQ.

ATLUS described the prompt behavior for the earlier full-game release in an October 13, 2024 notice. On first launch, the game displayed a confirmation to transfer demo data. If a player chose “No,” the game created a system save and the prompt would not appear again on later launches. ATLUS said the prompt could also appear after choosing “NEW GAME” from the title screen, unless the demo save had already been carried over. This is historical guidance for the platforms covered by that notice, not a confirmed Switch 2 procedure. Read ATLUS’s transfer notice.

The available official sources do not confirm whether a Switch 2 demo save carries into the Switch 2 full game, or what exact steps the edition will require. The older release’s auto-detection and prompt behavior should not be treated as a Switch 2 guarantee. Nor is transfer from an original Nintendo Switch demo to the Switch 2 edition established here.

What to do when the Switch 2 game is available
- Keep the demo save. Leave it on the console until ATLUS or SEGA publishes Switch 2-specific transfer instructions.
- Check before starting. When launching the full game, read any save-transfer prompt and consult current official support guidance before declining it or starting a new game.
- If no prompt appears, stop before changing save data. Do not delete saves or try unsupported account, cloud, or file operations. Contact official support and specify that both the demo and full game are for Nintendo Switch 2.
