No—not as a supported RAGE:MP community server. The RAGE:MP team announced that support would end and remaining community servers would cease operating after August 31, 2026. That date has passed. The team also said the client and server toolkit would no longer be available or supported and that its backend infrastructure would be permanently shut down. It asked server owners to wind down and migrate to FiveM. These are the team’s announced plans; the announcement alone does not independently verify the status of every server or service today.

If you searched for the best RAGE:MP server hosting because you are ready to rent a machine or move an existing community, the key issue is not which host has the most attractive plan. It is whether the platform can still provide the software and backend needed for a supported RAGE:MP service. The available evidence does not establish that it can. This guide explains what the team announced, what historical setup documentation can and cannot tell you, and what to check before considering a separate FiveM migration.

Why a “best RAGE:MP hosting” ranking no longer answers the question

A hosting provider can supply a machine, network connection and server-management tools. It cannot restore a discontinued game-server toolkit or the backend services a platform needs to operate. Because the RAGE:MP team set a shutdown timetable whose final date has passed, a list of providers claiming to offer current, supported RAGE:MP hosting would imply more than the available evidence establishes.

The RAGE:MP team’s May 25, 2026 announcement said it would begin a structured shutdown at Take-Two’s request. It said that no new community servers would be accepted and that the public server listing would close on June 1, 2026. The team set August 31, 2026 as the end of support and the date by which remaining community servers should cease operation. It further said the client and server toolkit would no longer be available or supported after that date, and that backend infrastructure would be permanently shut down.

Those dates are in the past as of October 13, 2026. The announcement is a statement of the RAGE:MP team’s plan, not independent confirmation that each element occurred exactly as described. It nevertheless provides no basis for recommending a current RAGE:MP host or treating the platform as supported. A company may still advertise a generic server, or a community may report that old files exist somewhere, but neither fact proves that a supported RAGE:MP service is available.

This distinction matters because “hosting” can mean two different things. One meaning is renting hardware: a VPS or dedicated server with a particular amount of compute, storage and network capacity. The other is buying a working game-server service for a specific platform. A hardware rental may continue to exist even when the platform software and its backend do not. The first does not prove the second.

What the RAGE:MP announcement told server owners

The team asked owners to wind down their RAGE:MP operations and migrate to FiveM. It described FiveM as Rockstar Games’ official platform for modding-based experiences. That description is the RAGE:MP Team’s statement, not an independent legal assessment. The announcement identifies FiveM as its intended migration destination, but it does not establish which FiveM hosting provider, plan or configuration is right for a particular community.

The announcement’s wording makes the direction clear. The team said, “We are asking all server owners to wind down their operations and migrate to FiveM.” It also said that, “In accordance with that policy, and at Take-Two’s request, RAGE:MP will begin a structured shutdown process.” These are statements from the RAGE:MP Team, not a provider comparison or a guarantee about how any particular server owner’s transition will work.

During the transition, the team said the latest builds remained available to existing owners through Server Manager. That was a transition-period detail, not a promise that the toolkit or builds would remain available after August 31. With the announced support and backend shutdown dates passed, do not rely on that temporary access as a current installation or recovery method.

The team also said it had tried to give owners extra time to move their servers and would do what it could to make the switch smooth. It characterized FiveM as Rockstar Games’ official platform for modding-based experiences. Treat those points as the RAGE:MP Team’s explanation of its planned transition. The announcement does not provide a detailed migration procedure, confirm compatibility for individual scripts or community data, or compare FiveM hosts.

What to do if you operated a RAGE:MP community

  1. Plan around the announced shutdown, not a new RAGE:MP rental. The team’s final date for support and remaining community servers was August 31, 2026. The sources available here do not establish that a hosting company can keep a supported RAGE:MP community running after that date. Before paying for anything advertised as RAGE:MP hosting, ask what exact software and services are included and how they work after the platform’s announced shutdown. A generic hardware rental is not evidence of continued platform support.
  2. Preserve files you still control. If you have local server files, scripts, configuration, or community records, keep your own backups. Possessing old files is not the same as having a working server toolkit or access to RAGE:MP’s backend. The transition announcement’s reference to builds being available through Server Manager applied during the transition; it is not evidence of a current download or recovery path.
  3. Separate archive access from continued operation. Historical setup notes and configuration files can help explain an old installation. They do not demonstrate that a community listing, backend connection, toolkit or supported server remains available. Likewise, having an old server folder is different from having the means to start and maintain a supported public service.
  4. Assess a FiveM migration separately. The RAGE:MP team called for migration to FiveM, but moving a community is not necessarily a simple transfer of a server folder. Verify that your scripts, resources, player data and operating practices are compatible with the destination before committing to a new host. The announcement establishes the team’s stated destination, not a one-click conversion process or automatic transfer of community content.
  5. Check current FiveM hosting details before buying. Confirm framework and version support, resource limits, locations, backup and migration arrangements, support, renewal pricing and cancellation terms with providers. No current FiveM provider plans or prices are established here, so this article does not rank or recommend them. A migration article or provider comparison should verify those details independently and for the specific requirements of the community.

A useful first decision is therefore whether your goal is to preserve an archive, continue a community on another platform, or simply understand the old configuration. Each is a different task. An archive may need local backups; continuing a community requires a separate platform and compatibility assessment; reading old settings does not require purchasing a new server. Keeping those needs separate can help avoid paying for a machine on the mistaken assumption that it will restore a discontinued platform.

Historical RAGE:MP server ports and settings

The RAGE:MP wiki remains useful for understanding older server configurations, but its setup instructions are historical context—not evidence that the platform is operational after its announced shutdown. Its technical values describe how the software was documented to be configured. They are not a current availability check, a hosting recommendation or proof that a service will work on a newly rented machine.

Ports documented for a historical setup

The wiki’s server tutorial identifies port 22005 UDP as the default game-access port and 22006 as the adjacent port used by the HTTP server to deliver client packages. It instructs operators to forward the relevant ports and allow them through the firewall. The separate server-settings reference says the configured game port uses both UDP and TCP, while the adjacent port handles HTTP client packages. Because these wiki pages describe the setup differently on the game port’s protocols, do not treat the tutorial’s UDP-only wording as a complete substitute for the settings reference.

In other words, the tutorial and settings page are not interchangeable references for the port protocol details: one describes the default game access port as UDP, while the other says the configured game port uses UDP and TCP. The common point is the role of the adjacent port: HTTP delivery of client packages. If you are reading an archived configuration, use the settings reference as context for what the configured game port did, rather than assuming that the tutorial’s brief default description lists every protocol detail.

These port numbers explain how older configurations were documented. Opening them on a new VPS or dedicated machine does not recreate RAGE:MP’s discontinued toolkit or backend, and it is not a workaround for the announced shutdown. Port forwarding and firewall rules address network reachability; they cannot provide software or backend functionality that the platform team said would no longer be available or supported.

Operating-system notes in the old setup guide

The official wiki documented both Windows and Linux setup, including use of a Windows server executable and Linux requirements and setup commands. For Linux beginners it recommended Debian or Ubuntu and listed Debian 10 or newer, Ubuntu 18.10 or newer, or an operating system supporting glibc 2.28. These are historical requirements from the setup documentation, not a recommendation to deploy a new RAGE:MP server on those operating systems today.

The practical limit is important: an operating-system requirement tells you what the documentation said about an environment for that software, not whether the software and the services it depends on remain supported. A machine meeting those historical requirements would still not answer the post-shutdown availability question. The wiki’s Windows and Linux instructions may help interpret existing local files, but they should not be read as current installation guidance for a supported public community server.

Other documented configuration values

The settings reference lists a default maxplayers value of 100 and a default sync rate of 40 milliseconds. These are configuration defaults, not tested capacity recommendations. The documentation does not show how many players a particular host can support with a given set of scripts, resources or gameplay load. A setting that permits a maximum of 100 does not mean that any rented machine can deliver a stable experience for 100 players.

The same reference covers settings for the gamemode, server name, bind address, language, ping and packet-loss limits, NodeJS, the C# bridge, voice chat, package delivery and FastDL. These categories indicate that the server configuration involved more than a single player-count value: it included identity and network settings as well as runtime, voice and package-delivery options. The reference does not provide current benchmarks, resource-specific performance requirements or provider comparisons for those settings.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Knowing these options may help make sense of archived configuration files, but their presence in documentation does not establish current RAGE:MP support. In particular, do not use the 100-player default or the 40-millisecond sync-rate value as a proxy for host quality. They are settings documented by the wiki, not market statistics, measured performance results or evidence of a tested configuration on a current hosting plan.

Why generic VPS and dedicated servers are not a substitute

A generic VPS or dedicated server can provide compute resources, storage and networking; it cannot independently replace software and backend services that the game platform has discontinued. The RAGE:MP team said the toolkit would no longer be available or supported and its backend would be shut down. As a result, converting a provider’s generic server into a supposed RAGE:MP hosting solution would not answer the central compatibility question.

This is why a recommendation for hardware would be misleading here. The gathered evidence does not include a host benchmark, a minimum current resource requirement, a comparison of provider plans or a supported RAGE:MP setup that could be tested. A processor, memory allocation or storage amount cannot be sensibly ranked for a platform whose supported toolkit and backend were announced for shutdown. Nor would networking equipment, server hardware or a setup manual solve that issue.

The official RAGE:MP website also states that RAGE:MP does not host user-made servers. That statement explains why owners historically needed to operate or rent their own server infrastructure; it does not establish that user-made servers remain usable after the later shutdown announcement. The older statement about who hosted community servers and the later shutdown notice answer different questions. The first describes the historical hosting model; the second sets out the team’s later plan to end support and shut down backend infrastructure.

What is—and is not—known about hosting options

There is no supported provider ranking, current RAGE:MP plan price, service-level comparison or host performance test established here. The wiki’s default 100-player setting is not a benchmark, and the documented 40-millisecond sync rate is not a measurement of hosting quality. A provider’s ability to rent hardware does not demonstrate that it can supply a functioning, supported RAGE:MP service.

That means there is no defensible “best” RAGE:MP host to name from this evidence, no current price range to compare, and no basis for claiming one provider has better uptime, latency or player capacity for this discontinued platform. It would also be misleading to turn a generic VPS, a dedicated machine or a physical server purchase into a RAGE:MP-specific recommendation. The research supports a status answer, not a commercial roundup.

If you are choosing hosting for a future FiveM server, evaluate it as a separate purchase. Compare compatibility with your intended setup, allocated resources under your actual workload, location and latency, backups, DDoS protection, migration help, support and the full renewal and cancellation terms. Check framework and version support and ask what resource limits apply. Confirm the service location that makes sense for your players, what backup and migration arrangements are actually included, and how support and billing work after any introductory period.

If you decide to move to FiveM, Godlike.Host offers FiveM server hosting with free DDoS protection, up to three free backups a day with restore, and a Pterodactyl-based panel; see the current plans. It is not on Cfx.re’s list of authorized FiveM hosts (fivem.net, 10 Oct 2026).

These are decision factors to verify, not attributes confirmed for any current provider in this research. No FiveM provider, plan, price, signup link, commission, cookie term or affiliate-program availability was verified. A separate FiveM comparison should confirm current compatibility, availability, regions, pricing and terms before making recommendations. The RAGE:MP shutdown announcement does not supply those details, and its migration direction is not an endorsement of a particular vendor.

Bottom line

As of October 13, 2026, the practical answer to “Best RAGE:MP Server Hosting in 2026” is that a current supported-host ranking is not warranted. The RAGE:MP team’s announced end-of-support and server-cessation date, August 31, 2026, has passed, and the team said its toolkit and backend would be shut down. For communities looking to continue GTA V roleplay, the team’s stated direction was to migrate to FiveM; select a host only after verifying current FiveM compatibility and terms.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you still host a RAGE:MP server in 2026?

The RAGE:MP Team announced that support would end and remaining community servers should cease operating after August 31, 2026. That date has passed as of October 13, 2026. The team also said the toolkit would no longer be available or supported and backend infrastructure would be permanently shut down. This is the team’s announced status; the available evidence does not independently verify every server or service today.

What happened to RAGE:MP servers on August 31, 2026?

The team named August 31 as the end of support and the deadline for remaining community servers to cease operation. It said that after that date the client and server toolkit would no longer be available or supported and its backend infrastructure would be permanently shut down. The announcement set out the plan; it is not independent confirmation of the status of every individual server.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Can I rent a VPS or dedicated server to keep RAGE:MP running?

A VPS or dedicated server can provide hardware and networking, but that does not restore the RAGE:MP toolkit or backend that the team said would be discontinued. No evidence here establishes that generic hardware rentals can operate a supported RAGE:MP community after the announced shutdown.

What did the old RAGE:MP port documentation specify?

The wiki tutorial listed 22005 UDP as the default game-access port and 22006 for HTTP delivery of client packages. The separate settings reference says the configured game port uses both UDP and TCP, with the adjacent port used for HTTP client packages. These are historical setup details, not proof of current service availability.

Does the 100-player default mean a host can support 100 players?

No. The wiki lists 100 as the default maxplayers setting, but it does not provide tested host capacities or performance benchmarks for particular scripts, resources or workloads. It is a configuration value, not a recommendation or guarantee.

Where did the RAGE:MP team tell server owners to migrate?

The team asked server owners to wind down RAGE:MP operations and migrate to FiveM. It described FiveM as Rockstar Games’ official platform for modding-based experiences; that wording is the RAGE:MP Team’s statement, not an independent legal assessment or recommendation of a specific FiveM host.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Which FiveM host should I choose?

This research does not verify current FiveM providers, prices, plans or affiliate terms, so it cannot recommend a host. Compare current framework and version support, resource limits, performance for your workload, locations, backups, DDoS protection, migration help, support, renewal pricing and cancellation terms before buying.

The Bottom Line

Bottom line: The RAGE:MP Team’s August 31, 2026 end-of-support date has passed. It said the client and server toolkit would no longer be available or supported and that backend infrastructure would be permanently shut down. There is no evidence here to support a current RAGE:MP host ranking. For a community seeking to continue on FiveM, check current compatibility, pricing and terms independently before choosing a provider.
