The Sims Mobile shut down on January 20, 2026, so there is no way to play it or earn Simoleons now. Before closure, players could earn the currency by completing Career, Hobby, and Relationship Events. This guide explains what those historical methods were—and what the shutdown means for existing currency and saved progress.
Can you get rich in The Sims Mobile now?
No. Electronic Arts shut down The Sims Mobile’s servers on January 20, 2026, at 1:59 PM UTC. Because the game required online servers, it is no longer playable, and EA says saved progress stored on those servers is unavailable. Installing an old copy or having currency left in an account does not provide a way to resume play.
EA’s final announcement stated: “TSM requires online servers to play, so playing in any form will no longer be possible after this date.” The Sims Mobile Team published that FAQ in The Sims Mobile: Our Final Update on October 19, 2025.

How players earned Simoleons before the shutdown
Historically, players could earn Simoleons by completing three types of events, according to the indexed EA Help article “How to use currencies in The Sims Mobile”:

EA’s current help link redirects to a limited-support landing page, so its original payout details are not available there. No verified payout amounts, event durations, or comparative earning rates are established by the accessible official information. That means there is no well-supported answer to which activity was fastest or most lucrative, and historical advice promising a specific best event or hourly rate should be treated cautiously.
What happened to currencies and purchases?
EA’s final-update announcement said real-money purchases were disabled on October 20, 2025. Existing SimCash, Simoleons, and Tickets could still be used until the servers closed on January 20, 2026; unused currency was not refundable. Once the servers shut down, those balances could no longer be used in the game.

These dates and changes are from EA’s final-update announcement and its associated FAQ. EA described the game’s run as “After seven years and more than fifty updates.”
Can an app, purchase, or trick restore access?
No supported method can restore the online game or turn unused Simoleons into usable currency after the server shutdown. A download, accessory, guide, or third-party offer cannot enable earning in a game that is no longer playable. Be wary of claims that promise working cheats, currency recovery, or a way to bypass the server closure; EA’s stated requirement for online servers rules out continued play after the shutdown.
