Yes. Chrome can show tabs that are open on another device when Chrome is signed in to the same Google Account and the account’s History and tabs sync option is enabled. On a computer, go to More > History > History, then choose Tabs from other devices. On Android, open the tab switcher and search in Search your tabs.
If you already know the page you want, use More > Cast, save, and share > Send to your devices instead. That sends one selected page to a device rather than making you browse a list of open tabs.
What “search tabs from another device” means in Chrome
Chrome has two related cross-device features, and choosing the right one avoids confusion:
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
- Tabs from other devices: browse tabs that are currently open in Chrome on another signed-in device.
- Send to your devices: send one page you are viewing to a specific device. You choose the destination instead of searching through a list.
Both features depend on Chrome being signed in with the same Google Account on the relevant devices. The setting that controls cross-device tab and browsing-history data is called History and tabs in Google’s desktop instructions. Chrome labels can move slightly between releases or differ by language, but the feature is still reached through History on desktop and the tab switcher on Android.

Search tabs from another device on a computer
Use this route when you want to look through tabs that are already open elsewhere, such as finding a document left open on a laptop from your desktop computer.
Step 1: Open Chrome History
- Open Chrome on the computer where you want to find the tab.
- Select the three-dot More menu in the upper-right corner.
- Choose History > History.
Step 2: Open “Tabs from other devices”
On the History page, look at the left navigation and select Tabs from other devices. Chrome will show tabs associated with other devices using the same signed-in account, when synchronization is available.
Step 3: Select the tab
Choose a listed tab to open it on the current computer. The list is intended for tabs that remain open elsewhere, rather than a complete archive of every page ever visited. If the page is not listed, check the account and synchronization requirements below before assuming the tab was lost.
Search cross-device tabs on an Android phone or tablet
Android uses the tab switcher’s search rather than the desktop History sidebar. Google’s Android help describes results that can include tabs from other devices, recently closed tabs, suggestions and tab groups.
- Open Chrome on the Android phone or tablet.
- Tap Switch tabs, the control next to the address bar that opens your tab grid.
- Tap the Search your tabs field.
- Type a word from the tab title or the name of the tab group.
- Select the matching result. Results may be grouped under Other devices tabs when the match comes from another signed-in device.
For tab groups to appear in search results, Chrome must be signed in and Sync must be on for the account. Searching by a distinctive word in the title is usually more reliable than trying to remember the exact full page title.
Requirements for tabs to appear
Use the same Google Account
Sign in to Chrome on both devices with the same Google Account. A device signed in to a different account will not contribute its tabs to the account you are viewing. Check the profile icon in Chrome on each device if you are unsure which account is active.

Enable History and tabs synchronization
On desktop Chrome, Google documents the relevant control at Settings > You and Google > [account name] > History and tabs. Make sure the option is enabled for the account you use on both devices. Depending on the Chrome release, you may first see a broader Sync or synchronization screen; open the account’s individual sync controls and verify the History and tabs entry.
Stay signed in to normal Chrome browsing
Cross-device access is an account-based feature. Chrome’s Incognito mode is not a substitute for synchronized tabs: Google says users cannot sign in to Chrome while browsing in Incognito. Do not expect Incognito tabs to be available as ordinary cross-device tabs.
Tabs from other devices versus Send to your devices
These commands solve different problems. Use the comparison below to choose quickly.
| Workflow | Purpose | Where you choose the receiving device | Best use |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tabs from other devices | Browse tabs already open on another device | You open a tab from the cross-device list; there is no separate send step | You remember that a page is open somewhere but do not remember which tab or device |
| Send to your devices | Send one page you have selected | Chrome asks you to select the destination device | You are looking at the exact page now and want to continue on another device |
Both workflows require Chrome to be signed in with the same Google Account on the devices involved.
Send one Chrome page to another device
If searching a list is unnecessary because you already have the right page open, send it directly.
Recommended Free Tools
- Open the page in Chrome.
- Select More > Cast, save, and share > Send to your devices.
- Choose the destination device from the list.
- Open Chrome on the receiving device and select the notification or prompt for the sent page, if one appears.
You can also right-click the tab or page and choose Send to your devices. The command sends that one page; it does not make every open tab on the source device available for browsing.

Why tabs from another device may be missing
When the list is empty or a particular tab cannot be found, work through the checks in this order.
1. Confirm the account on both devices
Open Chrome’s profile menu on each device and compare the signed-in Google Account. If one device uses a personal account and the other uses a different personal or work account, their tabs belong to separate sync sets.
2. Confirm History and tabs is enabled
On the computer, open Settings > You and Google > [account name] > History and tabs and verify that it is on. The Android tab-search feature also requires Sync to be enabled for the signed-in account, particularly when you expect tab groups to be searchable.

On Android, do not search the regular address bar and expect it to return every synchronized tab. Tap Switch tabs and use Search your tabs. Look for an Other devices tabs section in the results.
4. Consider a sync passphrase
A custom sync passphrase changes what Google can synchronize. Google says that when a passphrase is used, only web addresses entered into the address bar are synced. As a result, some browsing history may not appear in the places you expect, and a tab associated with other browsing activity may be absent from the synchronized results. The passphrase itself is not a way to recover a missing tab; you need the correct account settings and the original page if it was never included in sync.
5. Check whether the tab was Incognito
Incognito browsing is separate from ordinary signed-in Chrome activity. Since Chrome does not allow sign-in while browsing in Incognito, do not treat an Incognito tab as a synchronized tab that can be searched from another device.

What Chrome does and does not establish about syncing
Chrome’s cross-device tab features require the account and sync configuration described above, but the available help documentation does not establish a universal delay, a guaranteed refresh interval or a single cause for every missing-tab problem. Avoid assuming that a specific wait time, network condition or organization policy is responsible unless your administrator or Chrome’s own status information confirms it.
The exact iPhone and iPad search path is also not established by the Android instructions. Do not apply the Android taps word-for-word to iOS. On Apple devices, use the labels shown by your installed Chrome version and verify that the same Google Account and tab/history synchronization settings are active before troubleshooting further.
Practical ways to find a tab faster
Search by a title word
On Android, enter a distinctive word from the page title or tab-group name. A short, unusual term is more likely to narrow the results than a generic word such as “home” or “search.”
Use the desktop list when you remember the device, not the title
The desktop Tabs from other devices view is useful when you know the page is open on another computer but cannot recall its exact title. Open the list first, then scan the device group and tab titles.
Send immediately when the page is already open
If the source device is in front of you and the target device is known, Send to your devices avoids searching and reduces the chance of opening a similarly titled result.

- Need to browse several tabs open elsewhere? Use desktop History > Tabs from other devices.
- On Android and unsure of the title? Open Switch tabs > Search your tabs, then inspect Other devices tabs.
- Already viewing the exact page? Use More > Cast, save, and share > Send to your devices.
- No results? Check the same Google Account, then verify History and tabs or Sync.
- Using a sync passphrase? Remember that Google says only URLs entered in the address bar sync in that configuration.
- Was the page opened in Incognito? Do not expect it to appear as a normal synchronized tab.
Limits to keep in mind
Cross-device tab access is not a universal backup of every Chrome window. It depends on what the signed-in account is allowed to synchronize and on whether the tab belongs to ordinary Chrome browsing. A tab that was closed, never synchronized, associated with another account or opened in Incognito may not be available through these views. The feature is best understood as synchronized access to eligible open-tab and history data, not as a guaranteed record of every browsing session.
