No official PlayStation source reviewed here documents a way to install and run the PS5 console version of a game natively on a PC. The practical options are to buy a separate PC edition when one is available, stream your own PS5 to a computer with Remote Play, or use PlayStation Plus Premium cloud streaming on supported PlayStation devices for eligible games. These options work in different ways: a PC port runs on the computer, Remote Play runs the game on your console, and cloud streaming runs it on a streaming service. The official sources cited here do not establish the current state of PS5 emulation, so they cannot support a claim that it is either mature or impossible.
What “running a PS5 game on PC” can mean
The phrase can describe three distinct experiences. Only one involves the game executing on the PC itself: a PC edition, sometimes called a port. Remote Play and cloud streaming send a game image to a screen while the game executes elsewhere. That difference determines whether you need a PS5, whether you need to buy a separate copy, and how much your experience depends on a network.
- PC edition: A separately released version of a game that runs on a compatible computer. It is not the PS5 console build being installed on Windows or macOS.
- Remote Play: The game runs on your paired PS5; your computer receives its streamed display and sends your controls back to the console.
- Cloud streaming: A supported game runs on a cloud service and is streamed to a compatible PlayStation device. PlayStation’s cited offer is not a general PC cloud-streaming client.
PlayStation’s official PC catalog lists games that have PC releases, while its PC Games FAQ says the PC and console versions of PlayStation Studios games are “different products.” Consult the catalog for a particular title’s current PC availability; not every PS5 game has a PC edition.
How the PC, Remote Play, and cloud options compare
| Option | Where the game executes | PS5 required? | Purchase or subscription | Network and availability |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| PC edition | On the PC | No | PlayStation says the PC and console editions are separate products; buying one does not include the other. | Download the PC edition from a listed storefront where that particular game is available. Online features may have their own requirements. |
| Remote Play | On your paired PS5 | Yes, with the console available to connect | The game must be playable on the console; Remote Play is the streaming/control method, not a PC edition. | Requires a connected computer and a network. PlayStation recommends at least 5 Mbps upload and download, and 15 Mbps in each direction for best performance. |
| PlayStation Plus Premium cloud streaming | On the cloud service | No PS5 console is specified as necessary for this offer, but the cited page names supported PlayStation devices—not PC—as endpoints. | Requires PlayStation Plus Premium and an eligible game, account, region, and device. | Game selection and eligible regions are limited; streaming is network-dependent. PlayStation specifies bandwidth guidance by resolution. |
The table describes the options in PlayStation’s official catalog, FAQ, Remote Play guide, and cloud-streaming information as reviewed on October 13, 2026. Game listings, system requirements, device support, subscriptions, regions, and network guidance can change. Check the relevant PlayStation page and the specific game listing before relying on an availability detail.

PC editions: the way to play a game directly on your computer
If you want the game itself to run on your computer rather than stream from a console or service, look for an official PC edition. PlayStation’s PC catalog links to available games on Steam and the Epic Games Store. Those links are title-specific; a listing for one game does not mean that the rest of the PS5 library is available on PC. Check the game’s current catalog entry and its storefront page for its supported operating systems and PC requirements.
Buying the console edition does not include the PC edition
According to PlayStation’s PC Games FAQ, the PC and PS4/PS5 versions of a PlayStation Studios game are separate products. The FAQ says a buyer must purchase the other edition separately to play on the other platform. A PS5 disc or digital purchase therefore should not be treated as a PC license. The same FAQ says that buying the PC version does not let you play that edition on a PS4 or PS5 console.

Save data and accounts depend on the title
PlayStation’s FAQ says saves currently cannot be transferred between the PC and console versions covered by that FAQ. Do not assume that progress will follow you when you switch platforms; check the particular game’s current support information for any title-specific account or cross-progression features.
The FAQ also says a PlayStation Network account is not currently required for all PlayStation Studios PC games, but some titles do require one. Check the PC product listing before buying if account requirements matter to you. Storefront availability and requirements may differ between games.

Remote Play: use a PS5 you own from a Windows PC or Mac
Remote Play does not install or emulate the console game on your computer. PlayStation’s support documentation describes using its Remote Play app to control a PS5 or PS4 from a Windows PC or Mac connected to a high-speed network. For PS5 games, the console runs the game and the computer acts as the remote display and control endpoint. You need access to the paired PS5 and a connection that can carry the stream in both directions.
Requirements listed by PlayStation
The following are vendor-published requirements and recommendations in PlayStation’s PC/Mac Remote Play guide, not independent performance-test results. Operating-system support and requirements may change.

Set up Remote Play
- Prepare the console. On the PS5, open Settings > System > Remote Play and enable Remote Play. Make sure the console system software is current.
- Install the official app. Download and install the PS Remote Play application for Windows or macOS from PlayStation’s support instructions. The computer must meet the guide’s requirements for its operating system.
- Sign in. Open the app and sign in with the same PlayStation account used on the PS5 you want to connect to.
- Connect a controller. Attach a supported controller to the computer with a USB cable, as specified by PlayStation’s guide. Do not assume that every controller feature works in every game or on every device.
- Select the console. Follow the app’s prompt to connect to the PS5. When the connection succeeds, the console’s game session appears in the app and your input is sent back to the console.
The 5 Mbps and 15 Mbps figures are PlayStation’s recommendations, not a promise of a particular image quality or responsiveness. Remote Play depends on the network path between your computer and console; a connection that meets a stated speed can still perform differently depending on the network environment. If play is choppy or delayed, first check the connection in both directions and whether the console and computer are on a stable network. These recommendations alone cannot diagnose a specific home-network problem.

A supported controller helps you send input during the streamed session, but it does not change where the game runs. Connecting a DualSense, DualSense Edge, or DUALSHOCK 4 does not make the PS5 game execute natively on the PC.

Cloud streaming: a separate PlayStation Plus Premium option
PlayStation Plus Premium cloud streaming is distinct from Remote Play: Remote Play streams from your own paired console, whereas cloud streaming uses PlayStation’s cloud service. The PlayStation page cited for this offer covers selected PS5 games and names PS5 consoles and PlayStation Portal as supported devices. It does not establish a general way to stream those games to a Windows PC or Mac.
PlayStation lists the following upload and download bandwidth guidance for establishing a session and targeting different resolutions:
| Use stated by PlayStation | Upload and download speed |
|---|---|
| Minimum to establish a session | 5 Mbps |
| 720p | 13 Mbps |
| 1080p | 23 Mbps |
| 1440p | 38 Mbps |
| 2160p/4K | 52 Mbps |
These are PlayStation’s published figures, not guarantees of quality or latency. Eligibility depends on the game, subscription status, region, account, network, and a compatible device. PlayStation specifies adult-account requirements and supported regions for the service; a Premium subscription alone does not make every PS5 game available to stream. Check the current cloud-streaming page for your location and the game’s listing before subscribing for a specific title.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsPS5 emulation: what the official information does—and does not—establish
The PlayStation catalog, PC Games FAQ, Remote Play guide, and cloud-streaming information described above do not explain PS5 emulators, commercial-game compatibility, reliability, or Sony’s position on emulation. They therefore do not establish whether a particular emulator exists or how well it runs any game. The absence of an emulator from those official pages is not evidence that emulation is impossible, nor does it prove that an emulator is mature or dependable.
It is also important not to call Remote Play an emulator. Remote Play leaves the PS5 game running on the console and transmits its output to a computer. A PC edition is a separate product made to run on a computer. Neither is the PS5 console software executing natively on a PC.
Quick Recap
Choose the option that fits what you want to do
- You want the game to run on your PC: Check PlayStation’s PC catalog for an official PC edition, then verify that edition’s requirements and storefront availability. Budget for a separate purchase if you already own the console version.
- You own a PS5 and want to play its installed games on a computer screen: Use Remote Play if your computer, controller, and network meet the support guide’s conditions. The PS5 remains the machine running the game.
- You want to stream without using your own PS5: Check PlayStation Plus Premium cloud-streaming eligibility for the specific game, your region, account, subscription, and supported device. The cited offer does not provide a general PC endpoint.
- You specifically want to run the PS5 console build on a PC: The official PlayStation sources covered here do not document a supported native-install method. They also do not settle the current technical state of emulation.
