Yes — Fallen Village remains accessible after you leave. Once fast travel is available, use the lantern network to select a Fallen Village lantern. Before the fast-travel menu is fully populated, you can walk back through connected paths and shortcuts.
Leaving the village does not permanently lock its collectibles, quests, or other completion content. Free roam continues after the story, so you can return to earlier regions for cleanup.
How returning to Fallen Village works
Fallen Village is part of the game’s connected world rather than a one-time story area. Its lanterns serve as checkpoints for both respawning and fast travel. That means a lantern you have reached remains a useful destination even after the main route moves elsewhere.

There are two ways to get back: select a discovered lantern from the fast-travel network, or retrace the physical route on foot. Fast travel is the practical choice for a known destination; walking is useful when you want to inspect shortcuts, revisit side paths, or reach an area that has changed since your first visit.

Lanterns are your return points
Whenever you reach a lantern, treat it as a safe reference point for later exploration. The Fallen Village area includes more than one relevant approach, including routes through the Fields and Marketplace. A lantern near the route you need is usually more useful than simply remembering the name of the region.
Fast travel is available after the Chapter 2 boss
Lantern checkpoints exist earlier, but the fast-travel menu does not display lantern names until after the Chapter 2 boss. This distinction explains why an early attempt to travel back may appear to fail: the checkpoint is present, while the named travel interface is not yet active.
After that boss, the Chapter 3 route specifically directs players to use fast travel to return to the very first lantern. That return confirms that the opening area remains part of the travel network rather than being sealed off by progression.

- Progress beyond the Chapter 2 boss. This is when the lantern names become visible in the fast-travel menu.
- Reach and activate a lantern. Use any discovered lantern as your starting checkpoint; if you are already near one in another region, activate it before opening the travel interface.
- Open the lantern’s fast-travel option. The available destinations are organized through the lantern network, not through a separate world-map marker for every room.
- Select the Fallen Village destination you need. Choose a named lantern in the village, such as the Marketplace lantern, or the earliest lantern when you want to resume from the beginning of the area.
- Load in and continue from that checkpoint. From there, follow the local paths to the Fields, Marketplace, or any connected objective.
If you cannot see destination names, check your story progress before assuming that the village is locked. The most likely explanation is that you have not defeated the Chapter 2 boss yet, not that Fallen Village has become inaccessible.

Can you walk back before fast travel unlocks?
Yes. Fast travel is a convenience layer, not the only route between regions. The chapter routes include physical shortcuts and connected paths that let you return toward earlier lanterns. Walking takes longer, but it can be the correct method during the early game, when the fast-travel menu has not yet exposed destination names.
Why walking can be worthwhile
- It works before the named travel menu appears. You are not dependent on the post-Chapter 2 interface.
- It exposes shortcuts. The Chapter 3 route includes a shortcut back to a prior lantern, reducing the amount of repeated terrain once you find it.
- It supports exploration. Physical backtracking lets you check paths that were previously blocked, overlooked, or less relevant to the story.
- It helps with local cleanup. The Fields and Marketplace can be revisited as part of later routes rather than treated as permanently completed after the first pass.
What to expect on the route
Do not assume that every return trip will reproduce the opening approach exactly. The connected route may lead through a shortcut or a different side of the village. Use lanterns as anchors, then follow the available path toward the specific sub-area or objective instead of searching for a single entrance labeled only “Fallen Village.”
Returning during later chapters
Later progression repeatedly sends the player back toward earlier parts of the game. The Chapter 3 walkthrough revisits the first lantern and uses a shortcut into the prior route. The Chapter 6 route returns to the Fallen Village Marketplace lantern for later quest and collectible cleanup.
These routes matter because they demonstrate two different kinds of revisiting. A story route may send you to a particular lantern for a new objective, while a cleanup trip can begin at the same lantern and branch into optional areas. In both cases, the village remains integrated into normal progression.

The Marketplace lantern
The Marketplace lantern is especially useful for late cleanup because it places you near one of the village’s named sub-areas rather than forcing a complete walk from the earliest checkpoint. If a quest or collectible points you toward the Marketplace, select that lantern directly once its name is available.
The Fields and connected paths
The Fields are included in the revisitable route alongside the Marketplace. When checking the area for missed content, move between the lantern and the adjoining paths rather than limiting the search to the exact location where the story first took you. Shortcuts can change the most efficient order of the visit.
What changes after you beat the story?
Story completion does not close the map. The trophy roadmap confirms that free roam continues after the ending and that every area can be revisited for missing collectibles and side content. You can therefore postpone cleanup until after the final story sequence without losing the ability to return to Fallen Village.

This is useful if you prefer to follow the main route first. You do not need to stop at the village entrance and complete every optional task before leaving simply to protect access. A post-story session can start at a Fallen Village lantern and work outward through the same network used during the campaign.

Fast travel or walking: which method should you use?

A practical rule is to fast-travel when you already know the destination, and walk when the route itself is part of the objective. If you are searching for a missed item, walking at least once through the surrounding branches can reveal a shortcut or interaction that a direct teleport would bypass.
Collectibles, trophies, and missable content
The chapter walkthroughs state that everything required for trophies and 100% completion is available for return visits, with nothing missable and all areas accessible again. That includes Fallen Village content you may have ignored during the first story pass.
The full completion guide lists 89 collectibles across the game’s collectible categories, including Amber and Ferrofluid upgrades, according to PowerPyx’s 2026 guide. The total is a completion-guide figure, so use it as a checklist target rather than as a count of objects found only inside Fallen Village.

A reliable cleanup approach
- Finish the story or reach the chapter where the needed lantern names are visible. This removes the main navigation restriction.
- Fast-travel to the nearest Fallen Village lantern. Use the Marketplace lantern for Marketplace-related tasks or the first lantern for an opening-area sweep.
- Check the Fields and Marketplace separately. Treat them as distinct search zones so that a visit to one does not falsely count as a complete village sweep.
- Follow connected paths and shortcuts. A later route may expose a more efficient approach than the one used during the initial story sequence.
- Use the 89-item completion target as a broader checklist. Mark each collectible category as you clear it, including Amber and Ferrofluid upgrades.
Troubleshooting a return trip
“I reached lanterns, but there are no names in the menu.”
Lantern checkpoints appear before the fast-travel destinations are named. The menu becomes usable for selecting named lanterns after the Chapter 2 boss. Until then, continue on foot through the connected route.

“Fallen Village is not listed.”
Look for an individual village lantern, such as the Marketplace lantern, rather than expecting one universal entry to cover every sub-area. Also confirm that you have activated the lantern previously; fast travel is based on discovered checkpoints.
“I cannot remember the route.”
Start from the nearest known lantern and search for the shortcut included in the Chapter 3 route. The goal is to reconnect with a prior lantern, not necessarily to reproduce the exact opening walk in reverse.
“I left a quest or collectible behind.”
Continue the story or return later. The Chapter 6 route demonstrates that the Marketplace remains a valid destination for subsequent quests and cleanup, and post-story free roam preserves access to all areas.

Load the post-story free-roam state and use the lantern network or physical paths to begin cleanup. The ending does not convert Fallen Village into an inaccessible area.
