Yes—once you unlock a Relic, you can select it again in later Cursed matches. The Relic becomes a reusable modifier for new runs, including Cursed Survival on existing round-based maps. What does not carry over is an unfinished unlocking attempt: the side quest and Relic Trial must be completed in one sitting, so saving and quitting during that attempt resets it.

Replaying an earned Relic can provide additional Cursed Survival rewards such as Relic Charms. Co-op teammates can help during the run, but the available guidance does not establish that every participant automatically receives permanent account ownership when one player completes a trial.

What “replay a Relic challenge” means in BO7

There are two different activities that players often call a Relic challenge:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • Unlocking a Relic for the first time: you complete its side quest and Relic Trial. This is a one-session acquisition attempt.
  • Using an already-unlocked Relic again: you choose the Relic before a later Cursed match. The modifier is applied to a fresh run, while the earlier unlock remains available.

That distinction explains most apparent contradictions about Relic progress. Activision’s Zombies deep dive describes Relics as something players can “activate” for harder challenges, replayability, power, and rewards. Season 02 patch notes also describe selecting unlocked Relics on existing round-based maps in Cursed Survival and earning Relic Charms.

Activity Can you do it again? What persists? Primary result
Use an unlocked Relic Yes, in later Cursed matches The unlocked Relic remains available; each match starts with a new run Replay the modifier and pursue Cursed Survival rewards
Continue an unfinished unlock attempt after saving and quitting No In-progress side-quest and trial progress is not retained through save-and-quit Restart that acquisition attempt from the beginning
Complete a Relic unlock The completed Relic can be selected again The earned Relic itself is not described as being removed by a later failed run Permanent access to that Relic as a selectable modifier

In practical terms, failing or abandoning a later replay is not the same as losing the Relic. The reset rule applies to an acquisition attempt that was still in progress, not to a Relic that had already been earned.

How to replay an unlocked Relic

Use the following sequence when your goal is to run a Relic you already own rather than unlock a new one. Menu wording can change with seasonal updates, so confirm the labels shown by your current BO7 build.

  1. Open Zombies and select a Cursed activity that supports Relic selection.
  2. Choose the map and mode. Season 02 documentation specifically identifies existing round-based maps in Cursed Survival as supporting unlocked Relics.
  3. Open the Relic selection screen before starting the match. Look for the Relics you have already unlocked, rather than a trial or acquisition prompt.
  4. Select the Relic modifier you want to replay. The same Relic can be chosen for another Cursed run; selecting it does not consume or permanently attach it to one match.
  5. Start the match and complete the run under the Relic’s harder rules. Surviving can qualify the run for the Cursed Survival reward track, including Relic Charms identified in the Season 02 notes.
  6. Check your post-match rewards and collection status. Confirm that any earned Charm or other displayed reward was credited before leaving the results screen.

The modifier changes the rules of that individual run. It does not turn the original unlock quest into an endlessly repeating quest, and the available material does not state a numeric cap on how many times a completed Relic can be replayed.

Does Relic progress save if you quit?

Not for an unfinished acquisition attempt. Community references for Relic activity state that the side quest and Relic Trial must be completed in one sitting. Portal-quest progress is not tracked through saved games. If you save and quit before completing the attempt, plan to redo that attempt from its beginning.

What resets

  • Progress toward the side quest that was still underway.
  • Progress in the Relic Trial that had not been completed.
  • The current attempt’s portal-quest state after a save-and-quit.

What does not appear to reset

  • A Relic that was already unlocked before the interrupted run.
  • Your ability to select that earned Relic in later Cursed matches.

The safest way to interpret the rule is to separate attempt state from collection state. Attempt state is temporary and session-bound; collection state is the completed Relic recorded as available for future selection. The cited material describes the first resetting after save-and-quit, not the second being deleted.

Before starting a first-time attempt

  • Set aside enough uninterrupted time to finish both the side quest and the Relic Trial.
  • Tell co-op players that leaving the session can force the group to restart the acquisition attempt.
  • Do not treat a save-and-quit as a checkpoint for portal-quest progress.
  • After completion, verify that the Relic appears in the selection list before assuming it was unlocked.

What rewards do replayed Relics provide?

Relic access

The central reward for a first completion is the Relic itself. Once unlocked, it can be applied to subsequent Cursed matches. That future access is the reason replaying is possible: you are reusing the modifier, not repeating the original unlock requirement every time.

Relic Charms from Cursed Survival

Season 02 patch notes identify Relic Charms among the rewards for surviving with Relics selected. The notes establish the reward type, but they do not provide a universal number of Charms per run, a fixed drop rate, or a guaranteed amount for every possible Relic and map combination. Treat the result shown on the post-match screen as authoritative for that run.

Collection cosmetic on Ashes of the Damned

Windows Central reports that completing the final Ashes of the Damned Relic awards the Relic and, when the other eight Relics are already unlocked, completes the Reliquary Calling Card challenge. This is a collection milestone rather than a statement that every replay grants the Calling Card. The requirement is specifically tied to finishing the final Relic in that set.

No published replay-count limit

No authoritative source cited for this topic gives a numeric limit on the number of times a completed Relic Trial or its modifier may be replayed. The official language describes replayability qualitatively. Do not rely on an alleged daily, weekly, or lifetime cap unless the game displays one in your current version.

Can friends help unlock a Relic in co-op?

Yes, teammates can participate in the same run and assist with survival. A community Relic reference specifically notes that teammates can revive a downed player during Relic activity. At least one documented requirement is also squad-friendly: the Druid Stone guide says that in a multiplayer game, only one player needs to reach Round 20 without taking zombie damage for that requirement.

Co-op question What the available guidance supports What remains unconfirmed
Can a teammate join the Relic run? Yes; teammates can participate in the same activity. None on basic participation.
Can teammates revive a downed player? Yes, the cited Relic reference says revives remain possible during Relic activity. Whether every Relic has identical downed-player rules.
Does every player have to meet the Druid Stone Round 20 condition? No for the documented multiplayer requirement; only one player needs to reach Round 20 without taking zombie damage. Whether other Relics use the same condition.
Does everyone permanently receive the Relic? Not established by the official and guide material cited here. Shared account-level ownership when one player completes the trial.

How to handle uncertain co-op credit

  1. Have the player pursuing the unlock meet the stated objective and remain in the session through completion.
  2. When the trial ends, check that player’s Relic collection or selection screen.
  3. Ask each teammate to check their own collection rather than assuming shared credit.
  4. If the game displays an explicit unlock notice for every participant, use that notice as the current rule; otherwise, treat permanent shared ownership as unverified.

In-run assistance and permanent account ownership are separate questions. A friend may revive you or help satisfy a squad-friendly objective without necessarily receiving the same account-level unlock.

Choose replay when you already own the Relic

  • You want to practice or master the Relic’s altered rules.
  • You are targeting Cursed Survival rewards such as Relic Charms.
  • You want a fresh run without repeating the original side quest and trial.
  • You can accept that the run itself begins from a new match state.

Choose first-time acquisition when the Relic is absent

  • The Relic does not appear as an available selection.
  • You need the Relic for collection progress or the Ashes of the Damned Reliquary Calling Card milestone.
  • You are prepared to complete the side quest and trial in one uninterrupted sitting.

If a Relic is missing from the selector, do not assume that replay limits caused the problem. First check whether the original trial actually completed and whether the current map and mode support that Relic under the active seasonal patch.

Troubleshooting common Relic problems

The Relic is not listed

  • Confirm that you completed the acquisition attempt rather than saving and quitting before the final step.
  • Return to the supported Cursed mode and an existing round-based map identified by the current patch notes.
  • Restart the game session and check the collection again if the completion notice appeared but the selector did not update.
  • Check current seasonal notes because requirements and reward behavior can change.

You quit during the trial

Plan to redo the side quest and Relic Trial from the start. The cited guidance does not describe a recovery checkpoint for portal-quest progress.

A teammate says they did not receive the Relic

Do not promise that the unlock is shared. Have that player inspect their own collection and compare the result with the player who completed the objective. The available material does not settle the permanent co-op ownership question.

You expected a Calling Card after one replay

The Ashes of the Damned Calling Card report concerns completing the final Relic after the other eight are unlocked. A normal replay or a single earlier unlock should not be treated as the same collection milestone.

Patch and map context matters

Relic requirements, supported modes, and rewards can change with seasonal patches. The replay and Relic Charm statements cited here are specifically grounded in Season 02 documentation, while the Ashes of the Damned collection reward and Druid Stone requirement come from separate reports and guides. When giving advice to another player, include the map, mode, and patch context instead of presenting one trial’s rule as universal.

The durable rule is straightforward: an earned Relic is reusable in later Cursed matches, but an unfinished unlock attempt is not a save-and-quit checkpoint. Co-op players can help inside the run, while permanent credit for every participant must be verified in the game rather than assumed.
