Yes. You can remove the Intel Killer Performance Suite through Windows Apps & features and restart. If you only want to stop its traffic prioritization, turn off Killer Prioritization Engine or disable Killer Network Service instead. These steps change the software features, not the physical network adapter.
What Killer Network Service does
Killer Network Service is part of Intel’s software for Killer network hardware. Intel’s May 2025 user guide describes the Intel Killer Performance Suite as software that lets users view and control network traffic. Its features include prioritizing selected applications and providing network-health information. Intel also says the prioritization technology can slow background downloads on limited-speed connections so other data, such as browser traffic, gets priority; that is Intel’s description, not an independent performance measurement. Intel’s user guide
The service and suite are software components, not the adapter itself. Intel’s instructions describe disabling the service for a driver-only setup and uninstalling the suite separately; they do not instruct users to remove the physical Wi-Fi or Ethernet hardware.

Choose the least disruptive option
| What you want | Action | What changes |
|---|---|---|
| Stop traffic prioritization | Turn off Killer Prioritization Engine in Killer Control Center or Killer Intelligence Center | Disables prioritization while avoiding a full suite removal |
| Use the driver-only setup Intel documents | Disable Killer Network Service in Windows Services | Prevents the service from starting; Intel describes updates as coming through OEM or Windows updates |
| Remove the Killer suite | Uninstall Killer Performance Suite in Windows Apps & features, then restart | Removes the suite’s user-facing traffic-management and network-health features |
| Fix a suspected damaged or outdated installation | Follow Intel’s clean-install process | Removes and reinstalls the suite rather than simply leaving its features disabled |
Settings and component names can vary by software package and computer manufacturer. If you rely on a stable connection, identify your computer model and adapter, use the driver package appropriate for that hardware, and test Wi-Fi or Ethernet after restarting.

Turn off prioritization without uninstalling
- Open Killer Control Center or Killer Intelligence Center.
- Open its settings and switch off Killer Prioritization Engine. In older software, this feature may be called Advanced Stream Detect.
- Restart if prompted, then check whether the problem you were troubleshooting has changed.
Intel recommends this as a less disruptive alternative when the goal is to stop prioritization rather than remove the suite. Intel’s instructions for disabling Killer prioritization
Disable Killer Network Service for a driver-only setup
- Press
Windows key + R, enterservices.msc, and press Enter. - Find and open Killer Network Service.
- In its properties, change Startup type to Disabled, then apply the change.
- Restart the computer and check your connection.
Intel says this prevents the service from starting and leaves a driver-only configuration, with updates handled through the computer manufacturer or Windows Update. The available service name and settings may differ between packages. Intel’s service configuration instructions

Uninstall the Killer Performance Suite
- Search Windows for Apps & features and open it.
- Select Killer Performance Suite from the installed-app list and choose Uninstall.
- Restart the computer when the uninstall is complete.
Use Windows’ app-removal route rather than deleting files from a system folder. Intel’s uninstall instructions concern the suite; they do not say to remove the network adapter. Intel’s uninstall instructions
If you are troubleshooting high CPU use or connection problems
High CPU use or an older installation
Intel says some users have experienced high CPU usage with older Killer Control Center versions on newer Windows 10 versions. It suggests stopping Killer Network Service or Rivet Bandwidth Control, then clean-installing the latest suite. Intel’s clean-install guidance calls for downloading the correct installer, uninstalling the suite, restarting, clearing temporary installer files, and reinstalling. The cited guidance does not give a prevalence rate or a benchmark showing how much CPU use should change. Intel’s high-CPU troubleshooting article Intel’s clean-install instructions

Connection trouble in Riot games
Riot Games Support lists disabling Killer traffic prioritization as a possible troubleshooting step for connection issues with its games. It describes either turning off the app setting or disabling the service, followed by a restart. This is an option to test, not evidence that Killer Network Service causes every connection problem. Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What to check after making a change
- Confirm that Wi-Fi or Ethernet reconnects after the restart.
- Test the activity that prompted the change, such as a game connection or high CPU usage.
- If connectivity worsens, restore the prior setting or reinstall the appropriate suite and driver package for your computer.
- If the problem began after an update, consider Intel’s clean-install steps or your computer manufacturer’s support before removing drivers.
Intel’s cited guidance does not establish a universal speed increase, guaranteed CPU savings, or that the service is malware. Its statements about prioritization and resource footprint are vendor descriptions, not independent benchmarks.
