No—not as an officially supported setup. Xbox’s current cloud-gaming guidance does not list the PlayStation 5 as a compatible device. A Game Pass subscription therefore does not add Xbox cloud streaming to a PS5. You can stream Xbox games on supported browsers, PCs, mobile devices, select smart TVs, Amazon Fire TV devices and other listed platforms, but the PS5 itself is not one of them.
If your goal is to play Xbox games on the same television as your PS5, a supported smart-TV app or a separate streaming device is the practical route. That is different from using the PS5 to run the Xbox app.
What Xbox officially supports
Xbox Cloud Gaming is a streaming service: the game runs on Microsoft’s remote servers and video is sent to your device while your controller inputs travel back over the internet. Because the device still needs an approved app or browser experience, a Game Pass subscription alone cannot make an unsupported console compatible.

Xbox’s current service information lists Windows PCs, phones, tablets, Xbox consoles, select smart TVs, Amazon Fire TV, Meta Quest headsets and supported web browsers. Most cloud games require an eligible Game Pass subscription, a supported title and a supported region. Xbox also offers selected free-to-play games that can be started with a free Microsoft account. Why the PS5 is different
The PS5 is not included in Xbox’s supported-device guidance. That means there is no official Xbox Cloud Gaming app for PS5 and no documented PS5 browser method that Xbox promises to maintain. A workaround found online might load a webpage or redirect traffic, but it is outside the supported configuration, so compatibility, controls, performance and continued access are uncertain.
This distinction matters when troubleshooting. If a setup is not on Xbox’s supported list, changing DNS settings, buying an adapter or subscribing to a higher Game Pass tier cannot turn it into an officially supported PS5 feature.
Can a Game Pass subscription be used on a PS5?
Not for Xbox Cloud Gaming on the console. Game Pass grants access according to the plan’s entitlements, but streaming still requires a compatible device, an eligible game and a supported region. The subscription does not install Xbox games on PS5, convert the PS5 into an Xbox, or add an Xbox app to its system software.

Xbox says its catalog can differ by plan, region, platform and time. Even on a supported device, not every Xbox title is necessarily streamable. Some games that a user owns or buys can be streamed where Xbox enables that feature, but ownership does not make every game cloud-playable and does not make the PS5 a supported endpoint. Supported ways to stream Xbox games on a TV
If you want to use the same display as your PS5, compare the alternatives below. The television or streaming stick handles the Xbox app; the PS5 remains a separate console input.

Xbox’s television and device list can change. Check Xbox on TVs before buying hardware, particularly if you are outside the United States or are checking a specific television model.
Using a separate Fire TV device
A supported Fire TV Stick or Fire TV Cube is an alternative way to access Xbox games on a television, not a PS5 add-on. Xbox’s August 2024 update expanded the supported Fire TV range to include the first-generation Fire TV Stick 4K Max and third-generation Fire TV Cube, alongside the other models listed above. The announcement is documented in Xbox Wire’s August 2024 update.

Choose this route only if you are comfortable switching the television’s HDMI input away from the PS5. The Fire TV device runs the Xbox app independently. Your PS5 does not provide processing power, storage or network access for the streamed Xbox game.
Controller requirements and the DualSense question
Xbox says cloud gaming needs a compatible Bluetooth or USB controller. Some games provide touch controls on supported mobile devices, but that does not solve the PS5 compatibility issue.
For the Fire TV setup, Xbox specifically names the Xbox Wireless Controller, Xbox Adaptive Controller, PlayStation DualSense and PlayStation DualShock 4 as working controllers. Pairing a DualSense with a supported Fire TV device therefore can be valid. It does not mean that the PS5 can run the Xbox app or that a DualSense connected to the PS5 gives the console Xbox cloud capability.
What the controller can and cannot do
- Can: control Xbox Cloud Gaming on a supported Fire TV device when paired according to the device’s Bluetooth instructions.
- Can: control a supported browser or device if that platform recognizes the controller.
- Cannot: add Xbox Cloud Gaming support to PS5 system software.
- Cannot: guarantee that every game exposes identical button labels, vibration or other platform-specific features.
Internet speed and latency requirements
Xbox’s current setup guidance gives a minimum download speed of 10 Mbps for cloud gaming. Its television guidance recommends 20 Mbps for the best performance and notes that some devices may require 20 Mbps for best quality. These are different thresholds: 10 Mbps is the stated minimum, while 20 Mbps is the recommended TV figure.

Your experience also depends on latency, Wi-Fi interference, the distance to Xbox’s data center, network congestion, the device and the TV’s processing. Xbox recommends a wired connection or 5 GHz Wi-Fi for TV streaming where possible. A fast connection with unstable latency can feel worse than a slower but consistent one.
Practical network checklist
- Measure the connection at the location of the supported TV or streaming device, not only beside your router.
- Use 5 GHz Wi-Fi when the device is close enough for a stable signal, or use Ethernet if the hardware and network support it.
- Pause large downloads, cloud backups and 4K video streams while testing.
- Keep the streaming device’s software and Xbox app current.
- If video quality drops or controls feel delayed, test at another time of day to separate home-network congestion from service or regional conditions.
How to set up a supported TV or Fire TV route
The following procedure applies to a supported television or one of the Fire TV models Xbox lists. Menus vary slightly by manufacturer, so use the device’s current labels.
- Verify the hardware. Check the exact TV model and operating-system version, or confirm that your Fire TV Stick 4K Max (1st or 2nd generation), Fire TV Stick 4K (2nd generation) or Fire TV Cube (3rd generation) is the supported model.
- Confirm local availability. Open Xbox on TVs and check that cloud gaming and the Xbox app are offered in your region.
- Install or open the Xbox app. Use the TV or Fire TV app store and select the official Xbox app. If the app is not offered for your exact model or region, do not assume a sideloaded package is supported.
- Pair a controller. Put a compatible Bluetooth controller into pairing mode and add it through the TV or Fire TV Bluetooth settings. Xbox’s Fire TV announcement identifies DualSense and DualShock 4 as compatible options as well as Xbox controllers.
- Sign in. Use the Microsoft account associated with your eligible Game Pass subscription, or use a free account for a supported free-to-play title.
- Select a cloud-playable game. The catalog shown in the app reflects your plan, region and the titles currently enabled for cloud play. A game installed on your PS5 is not automatically available here.
- Test the connection. Start with a title that responds quickly, observe image quality and input delay, and then adjust Wi-Fi placement or use Ethernet if performance is inconsistent.
Can you use the PS5 and Xbox streaming setup together?
You can use both in the same entertainment system, but they remain separate devices. Connect the PS5 to one HDMI input and the supported TV app or Fire TV device to another. Select the PS5 input for PlayStation games and the TV or Fire TV input for Xbox Cloud Gaming.

The PS5 cannot act as the bridge between the internet and the Xbox app. A USB cable, HDMI adapter or controller connected to the PS5 does not change that device-support boundary. If your priority is playing without adding hardware, use a supported browser, phone, tablet or PC instead of trying to make the PS5 host the service.
Common failure modes and what they mean
The Xbox app is missing from the TV store
Usually the model, operating-system version or region is not supported. Recheck the exact requirements on Xbox’s TV page. Do not infer compatibility from a similar model number; television support is model-specific.
The app opens but a game will not start
Check that the account has the required Game Pass entitlement, the title is included for your plan and region, and the game is currently cloud-enabled. Some free-to-play titles use a free Microsoft account, while other games require an eligible subscription.
The controller pairs but inputs are wrong or unavailable
Update the controller and streaming device, disconnect competing Bluetooth devices, then pair again. Verify that the game supports the controller features you expect. Pairing success on Fire TV does not imply PS5 support.
Video stutters or controls lag
Check for at least 10 Mbps download speed and aim for the 20 Mbps TV recommendation. Move to 5 GHz Wi-Fi or Ethernet, reduce other traffic and test for interference. If the connection is stable but the problem occurs only at certain times, location and service conditions may be contributing.

A website workaround works one day and fails the next
That is the expected risk of an unsupported route. Xbox does not list PS5 as a supported cloud-gaming device, so browser behavior, controller mapping and sign-in flows can change without a compatibility promise. For dependable use, move the session to a listed device.

The bottom line
Xbox Cloud Gaming is not an officially supported way to play Xbox games on a PS5. Game Pass, a DualSense controller, an HDMI accessory or a faster connection cannot change that. To stream Xbox games reliably, use a listed browser, PC, mobile device, compatible smart TV or supported Fire TV model, then meet the service’s game, account, region, controller and network requirements.
