Not yet, based on the official information available on October 18, 2026. Rockstar Games currently lists Grand Theft Auto VI for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with a November 19, 2026 launch. The cited Rockstar and Take-Two announcements do not list a PC edition or any PC system requirements. That means there is no verified CPU, graphics card, memory, storage, Windows version, resolution, or frame-rate target to use when planning a GTA 6 upgrade.

If you are deciding whether to buy a new graphics card, processor, more RAM, or an entirely new computer specifically for GTA 6, wait for Rockstar to announce the PC version and publish its requirements. Hardware estimates based on Grand Theft Auto V, Red Dead Redemption 2, leaks, or anonymous reports are guesses, not requirements.

What platforms and date are officially confirmed?

The current platform announcement is limited to two console families. Take-Two Interactive’s official announcement dated June 24, 2026 says GTA VI is launching on November 19, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar Games’ support article, last updated August 18, 2026, likewise describes pre-orders for those two platforms and does not include a PC edition.

Platform Official status Date or detail
PlayStation 5 Announced platform Launch scheduled for November 19, 2026
Xbox Series X|S Announced platform Launch scheduled for November 19, 2026
Windows PC Not listed in the cited official announcements No release date or system requirements published

The announcement is a statement of what is confirmed now, not a promise that other platforms will never be supported. Rockstar could announce a PC version later, but no timing can responsibly be supplied until the company does so.

What does “launch date” mean here?

November 19, 2026 is the announced release date for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions. Take-Two’s announcement also says physical copies become available on November 12 for pre-loading. That earlier date should not be interpreted as a PC release or as permission to play before the November 19 launch; it concerns the console distribution process.

Can you play GTA 6 on a PC today?

There is no officially supported PC edition identified in the cited materials, so a Windows player cannot buy an announced PC build and install it today. The official pre-order wording is specific: “You can pre-order Grand Theft Auto VI for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.” It does not present a Windows version, a PC storefront listing, or a PC activation code.

Some websites may advertise downloads, “early access,” leaked builds, or software that supposedly unlocks the game on a computer. Those offers are not evidence of a genuine PC release. They can expose you to malware, stolen accounts, payment fraud, or files that are unrelated to GTA VI. Do not enter a Rockstar, console-network, or payment password into a site that cannot be tied to an official announcement.

Does the physical edition include a PC copy?

No. Rockstar’s support article says: “The physical version of GTAVI will contain a download code that can be used for the digital download of the game. A disc will not be included in the box.” The announced physical product is therefore a console download-code package, not a PC disc and not a Windows code. A PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S purchase should not be treated as a license for a future PC version.

What PC hardware will GTA 6 require?

Rockstar has not published a PC specification sheet in the cited official materials. Every major requirement a PC buyer would need remains unstated.

Requirement Official figure What that means for an upgrade decision
CPU Not stated Do not select a processor on the assumption that a particular core count or model is required.
GPU Not stated No graphics card can be labeled “required” or “future-proof” for GTA VI yet.
System memory Not stated The needed RAM capacity and whether dual-channel operation matters are unknown.
Storage capacity Not stated There is no verified installation size or free-space requirement.
Storage type Not stated An SSD, NVMe drive, or hard drive has not been specified for a PC build.
Operating system Not stated No supported Windows release or 64-bit requirement has been announced.
Resolution target Not stated There is no official 1080p, 1440p, or 4K minimum or recommended target.
Frame-rate target Not stated No 30, 60, or higher frame-rate requirement has been published.
Ray tracing Not stated It is unknown whether ray tracing will be required, optional, or unavailable on PC.

“Not stated” is important here: it does not mean that any modern computer will run the game, nor does it prove that an expensive enthusiast system will meet the eventual recommendation. It means there is no official number to compare against.

Why older games cannot provide a reliable answer

Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption 2 can help explain how demanding Rockstar’s previous PC releases were, but their requirements are not GTA VI requirements. A newer game can use different streaming technology, asset quality, graphics features, CPU workloads, and copy-protection systems. The same warning applies to unofficial screenshots, supposed benchmark results, and hardware lists attributed to anonymous sources. Without Rockstar’s published specification and test conditions, those figures cannot establish a minimum or recommended configuration.

Should you upgrade your PC now?

For a GTA VI-specific purchase, the safest answer is no. Buying a component can still make sense for games or applications you use today, but it should be justified by those current workloads rather than by an invented GTA VI target.

Use your current system for a baseline

Record what you already own so you can make a direct comparison when official requirements appear:

  1. Press Windows key + R, enter dxdiag, and select Save All Information to capture your Windows version, processor, memory, and graphics information.
  2. Open Task Manager with Ctrl + Shift + Esc. On the Performance tab, note the CPU model, installed memory, GPU model, and drive type shown for each disk.
  3. Open Settings > System > Storage and record free space on the drive where you would install a large game. Keep the drive’s total capacity and free capacity separate.
  4. Write down your monitor’s native resolution and refresh rate. Those affect the performance target you may choose later, but they do not substitute for an official GTA VI target.
  5. Keep the exact model numbers, not just brand families. A graphics card name can cover several memory sizes and power limits, and a processor family can contain materially different generations.

This inventory prevents a rushed purchase based on a rumor. It also lets you evaluate a future minimum specification against your actual system rather than against a generic “gaming PC” label.

When an upgrade may still be sensible

  • Replace a failing drive or add capacity if your existing storage is full, independently of GTA VI.
  • Upgrade memory if your current applications regularly exhaust it and cause paging.
  • Replace a graphics card if a game you already play fails to meet your chosen resolution and frame rate.
  • Improve cooling or power delivery when your current system is demonstrably throttling or unstable.

None of those decisions should be described as making a computer “GTA VI-ready” until Rockstar publishes a specification and the component is compared with it.

How to evaluate the official PC requirements when they arrive

When Rockstar announces a Windows version, look for a complete specification rather than a single graphics-card name. Use the following comparison framework.

Comparison Minimum specification Recommended specification Question to ask
CPU The stated processor or equivalent The stated processor or equivalent Does your processor meet the model, generation, and required instruction support?
GPU The stated graphics processor and memory The stated graphics processor and memory Does your card meet both performance class and VRAM capacity?
RAM The stated capacity The stated capacity Is the requirement total installed memory or available memory?
Storage The stated free-space amount and drive type The stated free-space amount and drive type Does the installer need extra temporary space, and is an SSD required?
Operating system The supported Windows edition and update level The supported Windows edition and update level Is your system 64-bit and current enough for the listed APIs and drivers?
Resolution and frame rate The stated target and settings The stated target and settings Are these targets tied to a graphics preset, upscaling mode, or ray tracing setting?
Ray tracing and other features Required, optional, or not listed Required, optional, or not listed Does enabling the feature change the GPU class you need?

Check both columns against your own goal. A computer that meets a minimum list may be intended only for the developer’s lowest preset and a lower resolution. Meeting the recommended list may target a different resolution, frame rate, or feature set. Rockstar’s wording and footnotes will determine what each label means.

Check more than the headline component

A GPU comparison that ignores video-memory capacity can be misleading. So can a CPU comparison that ignores generation, power limits, or laptop-versus-desktop behavior. Storage also deserves attention: an installation-size number is not the same as the amount of free space the installer needs, and a drive-type requirement can affect streaming performance even when capacity is sufficient. Treat every qualifier in Rockstar’s specification as part of the requirement.

Console planning while PC information is absent

If you want to play at launch, the announced route is a PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S. Confirm the exact console edition before purchasing, because the physical package described by Rockstar contains a platform-specific download code and no disc. The November 12 physical availability date is associated with pre-loading, while the announced play date is November 19.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

A console purchase is a separate decision from a future PC purchase. Do not assume that buying the console version will provide cross-buy rights, a transferable Windows license, or access to a PC build unless Rockstar explicitly states those terms.

Claims you should treat cautiously

  • “These are the leaked minimum specs.” Unverified lists have no official standing and may omit operating-system, storage, or feature qualifiers.
  • “Your GTA V settings prove GTA VI will run.” Older-game performance is not a compatibility test for a new title.
  • “An optimizer will make unsupported hardware run it.” Software cleanup or tuning cannot establish compatibility with requirements that have not been published.
  • “The boxed copy includes a PC disc.” Rockstar specifically describes a console download code and no disc.
  • “A retailer’s PC listing confirms the launch.” Retail pages can be placeholders or use incorrect platform metadata; rely on Rockstar and Take-Two announcements for platform and date information.

What to do next

  1. Use the officially announced November 19, 2026 date only for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions.
  2. Do not treat a console physical edition as a PC product; it contains a platform download code and no disc.
  3. Record your current PC’s CPU, GPU, RAM, storage, operating system, monitor resolution, and refresh rate.
  4. Wait for Rockstar to publish a Windows platform announcement and a complete minimum/recommended specification.
  5. Compare every listed requirement, including storage type, target resolution, frame rate, and ray-tracing status, before buying a GTA VI-specific component.

Until those official details exist, the only defensible PC hardware answer is that the requirements are unknown. Waiting avoids paying for an upgrade chosen from speculation and leaves you able to match the eventual specification to the games and applications you actually use.
