Yes. Forza Horizon 6 Standard Edition is included with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass from May 19, 2026, so subscribers can play without buying the game separately. Ultimate covers Xbox Series X|S, Xbox Cloud Gaming and the handheld access listed by Xbox; PC Game Pass covers the PC version through the Xbox app.
What Xbox Game Pass includes
The Game Pass benefit applies to the Standard Edition of Forza Horizon 6. An active Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass subscription supplies access to that edition as part of the membership rather than requiring a separate game purchase. Playground Games’ launch notice describes the Standard Edition as included “at no additional cost” for active subscribers.
The entitlement is tied to the subscription tier and the platform on which you play. Ultimate is the relevant tier for an Xbox Series X|S console, Xbox Cloud Gaming and the handheld access identified in Xbox’s listing. PC Game Pass is the PC option and uses the Xbox app on Windows.
Game Pass catalog rights are service benefits, not permanent ownership. If the subscription ends, or if the game’s catalog availability changes in your region, access can be removed even though the game remains installed.

Which subscription works on each platform?
| Where you want to play | Game Pass tier identified for access | What that means |
|---|---|---|
| Xbox Series X|S console | Xbox Game Pass Ultimate | Ultimate includes the Standard Edition for console play. |
| Windows PC | PC Game Pass | Install and launch through the Xbox app on PC. |
| Xbox Cloud Gaming | Xbox Game Pass Ultimate | Cloud play is listed as part of the Ultimate membership benefit. |
| Supported handheld access listed by Xbox | Xbox Game Pass Ultimate | Handheld availability follows the devices and regions supported by Xbox’s current cloud or handheld offering. |
| PlayStation 5 | No Game Pass access | A PlayStation release does not grant the Xbox Game Pass entitlement on PlayStation. |
Xbox Game Pass catalog membership, cloud coverage and device support can vary by country, account, device and date. Check the current Xbox app or console store listing before starting a download or cloud session.
When did Forza Horizon 6 arrive on Game Pass?
Standard launch and subscription availability
May 19, 2026 is the release and Game Pass availability date identified by Playground Games and Xbox. On that date, the Standard Edition became available to active Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscribers on the supported platforms.
Premium early access
Premium Edition owners could begin playing on May 15, 2026, four days before the standard launch. This earlier start was not included merely because someone held Game Pass. Early access and the additional Premium content require either a Premium Edition purchase or a separate Premium Upgrade purchase.

Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
That creates two different timelines: a paid Premium route for the May 15 start, and the included Standard Edition route beginning May 19 for qualifying subscribers.

- CRUISE ICONIC LOCATIONS — Drive through Tokyo’s city streets, suburbs, docks, and industrial districts in the most expansive urban environment in Horizon history.
- DRIVE 550+ REAL‑WORLD CARS — Collect and customize over 550 licensed vehicles with body kits, Forza Aero, window liveries, and enhanced steering animations.

How to play on Xbox Series X|S
- Sign in to the Xbox profile that holds your active Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription.
- Open the Microsoft Store or the Game Pass area on the console and search for Forza Horizon 6.
- Choose the listing marked as included with Game Pass and select the install option for the Standard Edition.
- Allow the game to download and install. Storage requirements, update size and download time are not specified in the available announcement, so the console may show different figures as updates are released.
- Launch the game using the same account. If the console asks you to purchase the title, confirm that the account is subscribed to Ultimate and that the listing is the Standard Edition rather than a Premium product.
Xbox Series X|S is the console platform named for the initial release. A backward-compatible Xbox One version is not identified in the launch information, so do not assume an Xbox One install is supported.
How to play on a Windows PC
- Sign in to the Xbox app for Windows with the Microsoft account that has the active PC Game Pass subscription.
- Search the Xbox app for Forza Horizon 6 and open the game’s product page.
- Select the Game Pass install option for the Standard Edition.
- Choose an available drive and complete the installation. The announcement does not state a minimum CPU, GPU, RAM or storage specification; use the requirements shown in the current Xbox app listing for your hardware.
- Start the game from the Xbox app or Windows shortcut while signed in to the subscribing account.
PC Game Pass is the tier specifically associated with PC access. Ultimate also includes PC Game Pass benefits, but a PC player does not need Ultimate if PC Game Pass is available in their market and is the only platform they intend to use.
Can you use Xbox Cloud Gaming?
Yes. Xbox lists Forza Horizon 6 for Xbox Cloud Gaming, and the platform-and-tier announcement associates cloud play with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. Cloud play can be useful when you do not want to install the full game locally or are using a supported handheld.
Cloud Gaming is not a universal guarantee for every account or device. Availability can depend on the country attached to your account, the device and browser or app in use, network conditions, and Xbox’s current cloud catalog. A game can also be present in the catalog while a particular handheld or region is unsupported.

- PREMIUM UPGRADE — Includes VIP Membership, Welcome Pack, Time Attack Car Pack, Car Pass, Italian Passion Car Pack, and two Premium Expansions. Requires Forza Horizon 6 base game or Game Pass Ultimate subscription.
- VIP MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS — Enjoy a 2x Credit boost to race rewards, 3 VIP-Exclusive Forza Edition cars, a weekly bonus Super Wheelspin, and special Vanity Items.

Before starting a cloud session
- Confirm that the account is subscribed to Ultimate rather than PC Game Pass alone.
- Open the Xbox Cloud Gaming catalog and verify that the game’s Play button is shown for your account.
- Use a supported device and a stable connection; cloud video quality and input response depend on the network path as well as Xbox’s service.
- If the game is missing, check your region and account tier before reinstalling apps or buying the game.
What is and is not included in the editions?
| Edition or add-on | How it relates to Game Pass | Timing or benefit |
|---|---|---|
| Standard Edition | Included with Ultimate and PC Game Pass | Available from May 19, 2026. |
| Premium Edition | Requires a purchase; it is not the included Game Pass edition | Play began May 15, 2026, four days early. |
| Premium Upgrade | Requires a separate purchase when you use the included Standard Edition as the base | Adds Premium benefits and early access when applicable. |
Game Pass gives you the Standard Edition entitlement. It does not automatically convert that entitlement into the Premium Edition, nor does it include Premium-only content unless you buy the relevant Premium product.
Does a PlayStation 5 release change the answer?
No. A later PlayStation 5 release does not provide Xbox Game Pass access on PlayStation. Game Pass access described by Xbox applies to Xbox Series X|S, PC through the Xbox app, Xbox Cloud Gaming and the listed handheld route. If you play on PS5, you would need to follow the purchase and account rules for that platform rather than relying on an Xbox subscription.
Do you need to buy anything?
You do not need to buy the Standard Edition separately if you maintain the qualifying subscription and play on a supported platform. The available information does not state current subscription prices, promotional rates, regional taxes or renewal terms, so those amounts must be checked in the Xbox storefront for your country.

Subscription versus ownership
- Subscription route: lower upfront game cost, but access depends on an active membership and catalog status.
- Purchase route: the paid edition is not dependent on the game remaining in the Game Pass catalog, but it requires a separate transaction.
- Mixed route: use Game Pass for the Standard Edition and buy a Premium Upgrade if its extra content and early-access entitlement are worth the additional cost.
What the launch announcement says about the game
Xbox Wire’s Game Pass announcement describes Forza Horizon 6 as featuring “over 550 real-world cars.” That is a publisher description in the 2026 announcement, not an independently verified count, and the number may change as downloadable content or later updates are introduced.
The car count does not alter which edition Game Pass supplies: the subscription entitlement remains the Standard Edition unless you purchase a Premium product.
Optional controller
Official promotion material documents a Forza Horizon 6 Limited Edition Xbox Wireless Controller. It is an optional accessory, not a requirement for Game Pass access or for playing on Xbox, PC or cloud. Current stock, retailer availability and regional pricing were not established, so check the live Xbox or retailer listing if you are considering one.
Common problems and fixes
The game asks me to buy it
- Check that you are signed in with the Microsoft account that owns the subscription.
- On console or cloud, verify that the membership is Ultimate; PC Game Pass alone is not the console or cloud tier.
- On Windows, verify that the Xbox app recognizes PC Game Pass and that you opened the Standard Edition listing.
- Refresh the store or Xbox app after a recent subscription change. Catalog entitlements can take time to synchronize.
I have PC Game Pass but cannot start it on Xbox
That is expected under the tier split. PC Game Pass is the PC entitlement. Xbox Series X|S and cloud access are associated with Ultimate.

I cannot find the cloud Play button
Confirm Ultimate status, then check the current cloud catalog for your region and device. Cloud and handheld coverage can change, so an unsupported location or device can prevent the button from appearing even when the game is listed elsewhere.
I expected early access from Game Pass
Early access began on May 15 only for Premium Edition owners or customers with the Premium Upgrade. The included Standard Edition opened on May 19.
The install is unavailable on my Xbox One
The initial platform information names Xbox Series X|S and PC. It does not identify an Xbox One version, so compatibility should be confirmed in the current store listing rather than assumed.

Which option should you choose?
- Choose Ultimate if you want to play on Xbox Series X|S, use Xbox Cloud Gaming or use the handheld access listed by Xbox.
- Choose PC Game Pass if your only target is a Windows PC and you are satisfied with the Standard Edition starting May 19.
- Buy Premium or Premium Upgrade if the May 15 start or Premium-only content matters more than relying solely on the included edition.
- Check the platform first if you plan to play on PS5, because an Xbox Game Pass subscription does not supply that platform’s entitlement.
For most players, the practical decision is therefore platform-first: Ultimate for Xbox, cloud or listed handheld use; PC Game Pass for Windows-only play; and a Premium purchase only for its additional benefits.
Availability can change
The catalog and service details above were checked on October 15, 2026. Xbox Game Pass membership, regional catalog listings, cloud support, handheld coverage, subscription prices and accessory stock can change after that date. Before subscribing or purchasing an add-on, confirm the live listing in your region and on your intended device.
