No—Black Ops 7 cannot be played offline. Activision requires a continuous internet connection for every mode, including Campaign. The game does support cross-play between Xbox, PlayStation, and PC, and its Co-Op Campaign can be played alone or with up to three other players. Can you play Black Ops 7 without an internet connection?
No. Activision’s support information for the Black Ops 7 editions says that players need “a continuous internet connection to play any game mode, including Campaign.” That requirement applies even when you are playing alone.
What the requirement means in practice
You must be connected while launching and playing the game. Losing the connection can interrupt a session rather than simply disabling matchmaking. The requirement is not limited to competitive multiplayer: Campaign, Zombies, Multiplayer, and the shared Endgame experience all fall under the game-wide connection rule.

Black Ops 7 presents its story as a Co-Op Campaign, but “co-op” does not mean that an internet connection is optional. You can choose to play by yourself, yet the solo session still uses the connected game service. Campaign progression is also tied to global progression across the game, which is another reason the solo experience remains online.

What has not been promised
Activision’s published information does not promise an offline bot mode, offline Zombies, or an offline version of the Campaign. It also does not promise a local split-screen Campaign that works without an internet connection. Do not buy Black Ops 7 expecting a traditional disconnected campaign or local-only multiplayer.
Is Black Ops 7 cross-platform between Xbox, PlayStation, and PC?
Yes. Cross-play places Xbox, PlayStation, and PC players in the same online ecosystem, so a player on one of those platforms can party with friends on another. The Microsoft Windows Experience Blog identifies cross-play as a feature connecting the supported console and PC platforms.

Cross-play is different from cross-progression
Cross-play answers whether people on different platforms can play together. Black Ops 7 also connects Campaign progression to global progression across the game, but the available information does not say that every purchase, add-on, or platform entitlement transfers between systems. Treat platform ownership and progression as separate questions when deciding where to buy the game.

Can you play with a friend on another console?
Yes. A PlayStation player can team up with an Xbox or PC friend, and the same applies in the other direction, provided both players are online and meet their platform and account requirements. The Co-Op Campaign supports one player alone or a team of up to three additional players, for a maximum party size of four.
How to invite friends
- Start Black Ops 7 while connected to the internet and signed in to the relevant platform account.
- Open the game’s Social tile. The official COD 101 guide identifies this tile as the place to invite friends.
- Locate the friend you want to add or invite. Cross-platform invitations depend on the accounts, privacy settings, and platform services being eligible for online play.
- Choose the Co-Op Campaign and have the other players join your party. You can launch alone or continue with up to three invited teammates.
If the other player cannot see your invitation
- Confirm that both players are actually online and have completed any required game updates.
- Check that the friend is using the correct in-game account and that account privacy settings allow invitations and cross-play.
- On consoles, verify the required PlayStation Plus or Xbox Game Pass entitlement for online and social functions.
- Close and relaunch the game if the Social list is stale, then send the invitation again from the Social tile.
- Make sure neither player is attempting to join from a disconnected or restricted network; cross-play still depends on the normal online service.
How each Black Ops 7 mode handles internet access
Co-Op Campaign
The campaign is designed for shared objectives and synchronized story moments. The official description says players can “squad up or go solo,” while the COD 101 guide specifies solo play or a team of up to three other players. Solo is therefore a party-size choice, not an offline mode. A continuous connection remains required, and earned progression carries across the game’s modes.
Multiplayer
Multiplayer is an online mode that uses the same cross-play ecosystem. Friends on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC can join one another, subject to account, platform, and subscription requirements. The available official information does not describe an offline multiplayer-with-bots option for Black Ops 7.

Zombies
Zombies is likewise covered by the game-wide continuous-connection requirement. Cross-play can bring supported platforms together online, but no official information promises an offline Zombies session. Plan on an active connection even if you intend to play with a small party or alone.
Endgame
Call of Duty describes Endgame as a replayable shared experience connected to the Co-Op Campaign. Because it is part of that connected progression and shared-play structure, it should be treated as an online activity under the same continuous-connection rule.
Do you need PlayStation Plus or Xbox Game Pass?
For console online multiplayer and social features, Activision says a PlayStation Plus subscription or Xbox Game Pass is required. That covers the services needed to play online with other people and to use console social functionality.

The exception is narrow: it lets a console player run the Co-Op Campaign alone without the stated online-multiplayer subscription. It does not remove the internet requirement, and it does not cover playing with friends. Subscription catalogs and platform rules can change by region and season, so check the current console store listing before purchasing.
Which editions and console generations are supported?
Black Ops 7 supports PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox PC, Battle.net, and Steam. A Cross-Gen edition covers both generations within one console family: for example, a PlayStation Cross-Gen purchase is intended for PS5 and PS4, while an Xbox Cross-Gen purchase covers the applicable Xbox One and Xbox Series consoles.

What Cross-Gen does—and does not—do
- It does: provide generation coverage within the same console family when the edition includes both versions.
- It does not: create offline access, waive the continuous-connection requirement, or guarantee free console online multiplayer.
- It does not: let a PlayStation purchase automatically become an Xbox or PC purchase. Cross-play connects players; it does not merge storefront ownership.
Choosing the right setup for your situation
You have unreliable or no internet
Black Ops 7 is a poor fit if you need a game that works on a flight, in a remote location, or during an outage. Every mode requires a continuous connection, including solo Campaign.

You want to play with friends who own different systems
Choose a supported platform and use cross-play. Confirm that everyone can access online and social features, then use the Social tile to invite the party. The Co-Op Campaign accommodates up to four players total.
You are moving from an older console to a newer one
Look for the Cross-Gen edition for your console family if you need both generations. This solves the PS4-to-PS5 or Xbox One-to-Xbox Series version question, but it does not change the game’s network or subscription rules.
You only want the story and will play alone
Solo Co-Op Campaign play is supported, and Activision lists it as the console-subscription exception. You still need a continuous internet connection, so “solo” should not be confused with “offline.”
Bottom line on Black Ops 7 offline and cross-platform play
Black Ops 7 is online-only: there is no disconnected Campaign, Multiplayer, or Zombies experience. Cross-play does let Xbox, PlayStation, and PC players meet in the same game, and the Co-Op Campaign supports a solo player or up to three friends.
