Yes. Asphalt Legends supports cross-play multiplayer between its phone, PC, Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch versions, so people on different platforms can race in the same online events. Cross-play is not the same as cross-save, however: Gameloft’s support documentation excludes PS4, PS5 and Nintendo Switch from documented progression synchronization.
Which versions of Asphalt Legends can play together?
Gameloft introduced cross-platform multiplayer as a first for the Asphalt series. The launch program covers Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Windows through the Microsoft Store, Steam, the App Store, Google Play, PS4, PS5 and Nintendo Switch. A player on a phone can therefore race someone on a computer or console, provided both are running the current compatible game version and have online access.

Cross-play means the race itself can contain people from different platforms. It does not mean every platform has identical graphics settings, frame-rate options, input devices, store policies or saved garage data.

Cross-play and cross-save are different features
Cross-play
Cross-play is the ability to enter the same multiplayer race as someone using another supported platform. A phone player and a PS5 player, for example, can compete in the same event even though they installed the game from different stores.

Cross-save
Cross-save carries progression between devices: cars, garage advancement, currencies, unlocks and other account data associated with supported services. Gameloft’s current support wording says cross-save is available on all platforms except PS4, PS5 and Nintendo Switch. That means a PlayStation or Switch owner should not assume that progress made there will appear automatically on an Android phone, PC or Xbox.
A Gameloft ID is described as a unified login, but the existence of one login does not make every platform a universal save destination. Treat the PlayStation and Switch versions as separate progression environments unless the latest in-game notice or support article explicitly says otherwise.
How to race a friend on another platform
- Install the same current release. Update Asphalt Legends on both devices before attempting an invitation. Version mismatches can prevent a player from joining a room or seeing an event.
- Confirm online access. Sign in to the relevant platform account and, where offered, connect a Gameloft ID. The exact account screens can vary between mobile, PC and console editions.
- Open the multiplayer area. Choose the online mode from the game’s main menu. If a friend is already online, use the social or friends list shown by your edition to locate the account.
- Create or join a private room. The host can invite friends from the room interface. The invitation method and button label can differ by platform, so follow the prompt displayed in your version rather than a guide written for another device.
- Set the race rules. A private-room host can select the track, car class, racing mode, number of laps and other available parameters.
- Have every invited player ready up. Once the room shows all participants as connected, the host starts the event. If an invitation expires, resend it after checking that both players appear online.
Public matchmaking works without a private invitation: select a multiplayer event and let the game find opponents. Cross-play expands the pool to other supported platforms, while a private room gives you control over who enters and how the race is configured.

What you can do together in multiplayer
Competitive races
Players on different systems can compete in the same standard multiplayer events. The platform used to launch the game does not, by itself, force a separate matchmaking pool for phone, PC or console users.
Private rooms
Private rooms are the most direct option for a group of friends. The host chooses the course, car-class limits, mode, lap count and other room parameters before starting. This is useful when one person is on a phone and another is using a controller on Xbox, PlayStation, PC or Switch.
Team Pursuit
Team Pursuit is a cooperative-versus-competitive format described in Gameloft’s launch materials. Five Syndicate drivers attempt to escape while three Security pursuers try to take them down. Because the teams have different objectives, it is a practical choice when a group wants coordinated play rather than a simple finish-order race.

Examples of cross-platform combinations
Phone and PC
Yes. Android and App Store editions can race against the Microsoft Store and Steam versions. The main differences are input and display: a phone driver may use touch steering while the PC player uses a keyboard, mouse or controller.
PS5 and Android
Yes for multiplayer. A PS5 player can enter a cross-play race with an Android player. Do not interpret that compatibility as permission to move the PS5 garage to Android; PS5 is one of the platforms excluded from Gameloft’s documented cross-save support.
Phone and Xbox
Yes. An invitation from an Xbox player can be accepted by someone using the phone version through the game’s multiplayer and social features. If the players cannot see each other, check that both are online, updated and using the intended account identities before assuming cross-play is unavailable.

Switch and other platforms
Yes for races, including private-room play where the Switch edition is supported in the event. Switch progression remains excluded from the cross-save documentation, so changing to another platform can result in a different garage.

Cross-play does not equal identical controls or identical rendering. Mobile players generally steer with touch interfaces, while PC users can select keyboard and mouse or a controller and console users use their platform gamepad. Gameloft said the console-focused update improved controller-oriented navigation and the user interface for console players.

Differences in screen size, frame-rate settings, network latency and control preference can affect how a race feels. A private room lets a group agree on car classes and track rules that make the session comfortable for everyone, but it cannot make every device render at the same resolution or respond at exactly the same time.

Account, subscription and regional caveats
The official material confirms the platform list and the cross-play feature, but it does not provide one complete matrix covering every country, platform subscription requirement, parental setting or account-linking path. Console online-service rules and store availability can change by region. Before purchasing or installing, check the current listing for your country on the relevant platform store and consult Gameloft Support for account-specific requirements.
The Xbox/Windows Unite launch was identified by Xbox Wire as July 17, 2024. Store listings and game menus can change after an update, so a button shown in an older video may have a different name or location in your build.
Troubleshooting when a friend cannot join
The invitation does not appear
- Verify that both players are signed in to the intended platform accounts and, where applicable, the same linked Gameloft ID identities used for social play.
- Confirm that both installations finished updating and are on the same live release.
- Close and reopen the multiplayer menu, then send a new invitation from the private-room screen.
- Check privacy, parental-control and communication settings on the console or PC account; these can block invitations independently of the game.
The room will not start
- Make sure every participant has joined the room rather than only accepting a platform notification.
- Have the host remove a disconnected entry and invite that player again.
- Try a public event to determine whether the problem is limited to the private room or affects online connectivity generally.
Progress is missing after changing devices
First identify the old and new platforms. A move involving PS4, PS5 or Switch is outside Gameloft’s documented cross-save support, even though cross-play remains available. On supported combinations, confirm that the same account identity is selected before contacting Gameloft Support; do not create a new profile while troubleshooting if you want to preserve the original account association.

- It does not promise cross-save between every platform.
- It does not guarantee that console subscriptions, regional store access or parental permissions are identical everywhere.
- It does not provide identical graphics, frame rates, controls or screen layouts.
- It does not guarantee that an older game build can join a newer one after a major update.
The practical answer is therefore straightforward: install Asphalt Legends on your chosen phone, PC or console, keep it updated, and use its multiplayer or private-room tools to race friends on the other supported systems. Keep your expectations separate for progression: PlayStation and Switch can join cross-platform races, but Gameloft’s published cross-save support excludes those versions.
