Yes—but only as an unreliable, emergent interaction in Story Mode. Lightly provoke one pedestrian, keep that agitated NPC close to another pedestrian, position yourself so the first character can make contact, and then move away. The NPC may shove or attack the other pedestrian, but it may instead run away, attack you, or attract police attention. There is no universal button combination that forces any two pedestrians to fight.
This approach applies to unmodded GTA V on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One. Repeatable battles involving several selected pedestrians require PC modding and are not console features.
What actually happens when you try to start a pedestrian fight?
GTA V pedestrians use context-sensitive artificial intelligence rather than a fixed “make these NPCs fight” command. A pedestrian who is bumped, struck, threatened, or otherwise disturbed can enter an agitated state. The character then chooses a target according to position, line of sight, distance, traffic, nearby hazards, and the current police response.

How to make two pedestrians fight on PS5, PS4, or Xbox
The following sequence is the practical unmodded method described for PlayStation and Xbox. It works in Story Mode and may fail even when every step is performed correctly.
- Find a suitable pair. Look for two pedestrians standing or walking within a few steps of each other. Busy sidewalks, plazas, shopping areas, transit stops, and other populated locations offer more opportunities than an empty road. Avoid placing the pair beside fast traffic, steep drops, water, or a dense crowd that can interrupt the interaction.
- Provoke only one NPC. Lightly bump or strike one pedestrian. A small disturbance is preferable to immediately using a weapon, because gunfire or severe violence can trigger a wanted response before the pedestrians interact.
- Wait for the reaction. Let the first pedestrian turn, shout, gesture, or move toward a target. Do not keep attacking during this moment. If the NPC simply runs away, walks off, or immediately focuses on your character, abandon that pair and try again.
- Keep the agitated NPC beside the second pedestrian. Walk or jog so the reacting character remains close to the other pedestrian. Your goal is to put the two NPCs in the same contact area without standing directly between them.
- Line up a possible contact. Position yourself slightly to the side or behind the second pedestrian. This can give the agitated NPC a clear path for a shove or punch while reducing the chance that both characters interpret you as the immediate target.
- Leave the contact area. As soon as the NPCs are close, move several steps away. Remaining between them often causes both pedestrians to redirect their aggression toward the player. Moving away also gives the game’s AI room to select the other pedestrian as a target.
- Observe before intervening. If a shove or strike connects, stay back and watch. Traffic, bystanders, police, or a fleeing NPC can end the encounter quickly. If nothing happens after a few seconds, reset the attempt with a different pair rather than escalating the attack.
There is no specific PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, or Xbox One button sequence that guarantees success. The controller only supplies the ordinary movement and melee inputs; the decision to fight is made by the game’s AI.

Choose space with room to maneuver
A broad sidewalk or plaza is easier to manage than a narrow alley. You need enough room to circle the pedestrians, step out of the way, and keep the pair from being separated by a vehicle. Crowded locations create more candidate pairs, but an excessively dense crowd also gives the AI more possible targets and more ways to lose the interaction.
Use ordinary pedestrians, not scripted scenes
Pedestrians involved in missions, ambient events, shops, vehicles, or police incidents may follow special behavior rules. A normal pair walking through free-roam Story Mode is the most suitable test case. If one NPC is already running, fleeing, fighting, or reacting to an event, choose another pair.
Keep the disturbance limited
A single bump or light melee hit can create the agitated state you need. Repeated blows, firearms, explosions, or vehicle attacks increase the likelihood of a wanted level, mass panic, or an NPC targeting the player instead of the nearby pedestrian.

Use a retry-friendly setup
Save in Story Mode before experimenting if you want to preserve a particular location or character state. A failed attempt is normal; the fastest reset is usually to move away, let the area settle, and approach a new pair. There is no documented probability that lets you calculate how many attempts will be needed.
Why the result is inconsistent
Several systems compete with the fight behavior:
- Target selection: The provoked pedestrian may regard the player as the offender and attack only the player.
- Distance and pathing: If the second NPC is too far away, blocked by scenery, or separated by a curb or vehicle, the attack may never connect.
- Flee behavior: Either pedestrian can run when threatened. Once one character leaves the local area, the opportunity usually ends.
- Police logic: Witnesses, severe attacks, weapons, or public disorder can bring police. Officers may interrupt the pedestrians or make the player the priority target.
- Traffic and hazards: Cars, motorcycles, tight spaces, and uneven terrain can knock characters down or force them into a different behavior state.
- Other bystanders: A nearby pedestrian can become the new target, flee, or trigger additional reactions, changing the original setup.
These variables explain why a method can work once and fail immediately afterward. They are not evidence of a hidden cheat code or a guaranteed exploit.
Story Mode is the appropriate place to try it
Use single-player Story Mode for this experiment. The PlayStation listing for Grand Theft Auto V identifies Story Mode as the one-player component and online play as an optional separate mode. GTA V is available in PS4 and PS5 versions, with DualSense support on PS5; Rockstar’s update documentation also covers PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.
The unmodded provoke-and-redirect technique is not a supported GTA Online feature. Do not use third-party scripts or mod menus in GTA Online. Besides being outside the intended game mechanics, unauthorized online modifications can interfere with other players and put an account at risk of enforcement. The console method should therefore be treated as a Story Mode sandbox experiment, not an online activity.
PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One differences
The underlying pedestrian behavior is not documented as a platform-exclusive feature. The same limitations apply across the console versions: an NPC may attack, flee, target the player, or bring police attention, and no version exposes a guaranteed command for making two pedestrians fight.

| Platform | Can try the unmodded method? | What to expect |
|---|---|---|
| PS5 | Yes, in Story Mode | Use ordinary movement and melee controls; outcomes remain emergent and inconsistent. DualSense support is listed for the PS5 version. |
| PS4 | Yes, in Story Mode | The same provoke, position, and retreat sequence applies; no guaranteed fight command is available. |
| Xbox Series X|S | Yes, in Story Mode | Behavioral limits are the same as on PlayStation; traffic, police, and fleeing can interrupt the attempt. |
| Xbox One | Yes, in Story Mode | Try the free-roam setup with two nearby pedestrians; results depend on AI reactions rather than a console-specific trick. |
Store editions, prices, offers, and online requirements can change by region and date. Those commercial details do not change the pedestrian interaction described here.

Is there a cheat to make pedestrians fight?
There is no documented cheat code or controller combination that forces a selected pair of pedestrians to fight on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, or Xbox One. Cheat effects that alter player abilities, weapons, vehicles, or world conditions are different from a command that assigns combat targets to arbitrary NPCs. The console method works, when it works, because the AI reacts to a disturbance and a nearby target.
Claims that a particular sequence always makes a crowd fight should be treated cautiously. A clip can capture a successful emergent interaction without proving that the same inputs will reproduce it on every attempt, location, or game version.
Can you make a whole crowd fight without mods?
You may see chain reactions in a busy area: one shove can make another pedestrian flee or retaliate, and a third NPC can become involved. However, you cannot reliably select a crowd and assign every member to a battle using normal console controls. The more people involved, the more likely traffic, police, fleeing behavior, or changing targets will break the sequence.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFor a controlled crowd fight, the practical limit of the unmodded console game is that there is no reliable control. A repeatable multi-fighter setup belongs to PC modding, not to the PS5, PS4, or Xbox versions.

PC modding tools can create scripted encounters instead of relying entirely on ambient AI. A Random Fight Events .NET setup described in technical documentation can automatically or manually spawn two to six fighters. Another technical workflow uses scripted FightAgainst tasks and groups of spawned pedestrians to assign combat behavior.
| Approach | Platforms | Repeatability | Participant control | Setup and risk |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Provoke and redirect an NPC | PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC | Low; outcomes vary each attempt | Little control over who attacks whom | No mod installation, but player or police interference is common |
| Scripted fight-event mod | PC only | Higher after installation and configuration | Can create groups and, depending on the tool, select behaviors or participants | Requires a compatible mod setup; not a console feature and not an appropriate GTA Online technique |
The two-to-six figure applies to the described PC mod configuration, not to normal console behavior. Installing a PC mod does not create a method that can be transferred to a console account or controller.

Troubleshooting: what to change when it fails
The first pedestrian runs away
Use a different NPC and reduce the initial provocation. Start in a populated but calm area, avoid weapons, and give the pedestrian a moment to react before trying to guide the character.
The NPC attacks you instead
You are probably still the closest or most obvious target. Stop standing between the pair, move to the side, and retreat as soon as the two NPCs are within striking distance.
The pedestrians stand near each other but do nothing
They may not have a valid path or the agitated state may have expired. Reposition in an open area, try a fresh pair, and avoid objects that block movement. Do not assume that proximity alone assigns a target.
Police arrive immediately
Leave the area and let the wanted response clear before trying again. Use lighter provocation and avoid firearms, vehicles, explosions, and attacks on officers. Police presence can override the pedestrian interaction.
The fight stops after one hit
This is a normal outcome. One character may flee, fall, lose the target, or be interrupted by traffic. The method is not a guaranteed duel system, so restarting with another pair is usually more effective than escalating the same encounter.
Quick Recap
Bottom line for each console question
- “Can I make peds fight on GTA 5?” Sometimes, by provoking one pedestrian and maneuvering that NPC toward another.
- “How do I do it on PS5 or PS4?” Use Story Mode, lightly disturb one nearby pedestrian, guide the reaction toward a second NPC, then step away.
- “Does the trick work on Xbox?” The same unmodded, inconsistent approach can be attempted on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
- “Is there a guaranteed cheat?” No documented console command forces arbitrary pedestrians to fight.
- “Can I create a controlled crowd battle?” Not reliably without PC modding; documented PC setups can spawn or script groups, while consoles cannot.
