Yes—if your iPhone is physically in a supported region and runs that region’s minimum iOS version. Epic currently lists iPhone installation in the European Union, Japan, and Brazil. iPad support is narrower: the store is currently available on iPad in the EU, but not in Japan or Brazil.
Installation starts from Epic’s official installation instructions in Safari. Depending on your iOS version, you may need to approve marketplace apps from Epic Games Inc. in Settings before confirming the installation. Region, device type, software version, and whether you are travelling all affect what you can do.

Where the Epic Games Store works on Apple devices
Epic’s current iOS and iPadOS support list is based on both your location and your device type. Being in a country with alternative app marketplaces does not automatically mean that the Epic Games Store is offered there; Epic’s own country list controls availability for its store.

These regions and minimum versions come from Epic’s installation guide. “European Union” means the EU market rather than every European country, so a non-EU European location should not be treated as eligible without checking Epic’s current list. Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and other nearby countries should not be assumed to qualify simply because they are geographically close to the EU.

Availability is also not interchangeable between Apple devices. An iPhone in Japan or Brazil may meet Epic’s requirements while an iPad in the same country does not, because Epic currently lists iPad support only for the EU. The device row and the country row must both match.
What you need before trying to install
Check the three eligibility variables before troubleshooting the installation: your current physical region, whether you are using an iPhone or iPad, and the operating-system version installed on that device.
- Supported location: Epic currently lists the EU, Japan, and Brazil for iPhone installation.
- Supported device: iPhone is supported in all three listed regions. iPad is currently supported only in the EU.
- Minimum software: EU iPhone users need iOS 17.6 or later; Japan requires iOS 26.2 or later; Brazil requires iOS 26.5 or later. EU iPad users need iPadOS 18 or later.
- Safari access: Epic directs users to begin on its website in Safari on the eligible device.
- Settings approval: Some installation flows require permission for marketplace apps from Epic Games Inc. in Settings.
The version thresholds are regional requirements, not a promise that every device capable of running a newer iOS release will be accepted. If your phone reports a different prompt, follow the prompt shown for your device and region rather than inferring eligibility from a general iOS-version label.

To check the installed version, open Settings > General > About and read the iOS Version or iPadOS Version field. You can also check for an available update under Settings > General > Software Update. Updating can help only when the device supports the required release; it does not turn an unsupported country or an unsupported iPad into an eligible setup.
How to install the Epic Games Store on an iPhone
- Confirm your region and iOS version. Make sure you are physically in the EU, Japan, or Brazil and that your iPhone meets the applicable minimum in the table above. If you are using an iPad, confirm that you are in the EU and have iPadOS 18 or later.
- Open Safari on the eligible device. Go to Epic’s installation page from the iPhone or iPad on which you want the store installed. Epic specifically recommends Safari for this process.
- Start the marketplace installation. Follow the on-page install prompt. Depending on the iOS version and the flow displayed, the button may be labelled Install.
- Allow marketplace apps if iOS asks. On some versions, iOS sends you to Settings to approve marketplace apps from Epic Games Inc. Open the requested Settings screen, allow the marketplace apps permission, and return to the browser.
- Confirm the store installation. Tap Confirm when the system or Epic page asks you to approve installation. Do not close Safari while the confirmation sheet is visible.
- Open the new store app. After iOS finishes installing it, launch the Epic Games Store from the Home Screen and complete any sign-in or in-app setup it requests.
The exact labels can vary because Epic documents separate flows for iOS or iPadOS 26.2 and later, 18.6 and later, and versions below 18.6. The regional minimums are the authoritative eligibility check; the heading that matches your version determines which screens you see.
If Safari opens a page but offers no installation control, do not repeatedly tap unrelated download links or install a similarly named app from another site. Return to Epic’s official page, verify the region and version, and use the flow displayed there.
Understanding the iOS-version flow
Epic’s instructions group the screens by software ranges, but those headings should not be read as replacement regional requirements. For example, an EU iPhone can be eligible from iOS 17.6, while Japan’s listed minimum is iOS 26.2 and Brazil’s is iOS 26.5. An EU iPad has a separate iPadOS 18 minimum.

If your device is on iOS 26.2 or later
Follow the current install flow shown by Epic. The page may take you directly through an Install and Confirm sequence, or it may ask you to approve marketplace apps in Settings first.
If your device is on iOS 18.6 or later but below 26.2
Use the matching section in Epic’s guide and follow its prompts exactly. Do not assume that an iPhone meeting an EU minimum will meet Japan’s or Brazil’s higher listed threshold.
If your device is below iOS 18.6
Epic provides a separate set of instructions for older supported versions. The EU minimum of iOS 17.6 means some EU iPhones below 18.6 can still qualify, provided they meet the other conditions. Japan and Brazil have higher minimums, so an older phone may fail those regional checks even if it can open the web page.
This is why a version heading alone cannot answer “Can I install it?” A reader in the EU might qualify on iOS 17.6, while a reader in Japan needs iOS 26.2 and a reader in Brazil needs iOS 26.5. Compare the device’s actual version with the row for the place where the phone is being used.

If the Install button or permission prompt does not appear
When the store does not begin installing despite an apparently eligible setup, work through Epic’s own troubleshooting sequence before changing account settings or attempting a workaround.
- Verify the physical region again. Confirm that you are currently in the EU, Japan, or Brazil, and that you are comparing your device with the correct iPhone or iPad row.
- Check the software version. In iOS, open Settings > General > About and read the value beside iOS Version (or the corresponding iPadOS entry). Compare it with the regional minimum rather than with the version heading on the web page.
- Use Safari. Epic’s support instructions recommend Safari, so repeat the attempt there instead of relying on an in-app browser.
- Retry the page. Return to Epic’s installation page and start the process again. A temporary page or system-state problem can prevent the first prompt from appearing.
- Restart the device. Reboot the iPhone or iPad, reopen Safari, and repeat the installation steps.
- Clear Safari website data if necessary. Epic lists clearing Safari website data as a further troubleshooting step. This can sign you out of websites and remove saved site data, so use it only after the simpler retry and restart steps.
These are Epic’s suggested remedies, not independently verified procedures. If the prompt remains absent after them, consult the current instructions at Epic’s support page; the supported-region list and screen flow can change.
A missing prompt does not by itself prove that the iPhone is incompatible. The common distinctions are whether the person is outside a listed region, is using an iPad outside the EU, or is below the relevant regional minimum. Check those three points first, then retry the browser flow.

Can changing your Apple Account region make it work?
Do not treat an Apple Account country change, a location-spoofing method, or a VPN as a guaranteed way to enable the store. Apple explains that alternative marketplace eligibility can depend on both physical location and the Apple Account country or region. Epic’s own eligibility rules still determine whether its store is offered, so changing an account setting does not establish that an unsupported location is eligible.

The safest check is Epic’s current installation guidance for your actual location and device. A changed account setting can also affect other Apple services, so it should not be used merely as an installation experiment.
What happens if you leave a supported region?
Epic says that users outside the EU, Japan, or Brazil cannot install new apps from the Epic Games Store on iOS. If you already installed apps from the store and then leave a supported region, Epic’s stated grace period is different from a fresh-install rule:
- Previously installed apps continue to work and receive updates for up to 90 days after you leave a supported region.
- After that period, the apps stop receiving updates but continue to open.
- You cannot use the out-of-region status to install new Epic Games Store apps on iOS.
The 90-day statement concerns existing installations; it does not promise that every store feature, download, or future app will remain available while travelling. For a trip, install what you need before departure and expect new installations to be blocked once you are outside a supported region. Travel therefore has two separate questions: whether the store was installed before departure and how long the device remains outside the supported area. A traveller who has never installed the store cannot rely on the 90-day rule to obtain a first installation. Someone who already has an app can continue opening it after the update period, but should not interpret that as permanent support for new downloads or updates.
Why Apple limits alternative stores by region
Apple’s platform rules explain why the same iPhone can have different marketplace options in different countries. Apple’s EU documentation describes alternative app marketplaces on iOS 17.4 and later as part of changes made to comply with the European Union’s Digital Markets Act: Apple’s EU alternative-marketplace documentation.

Marketplace operators must meet Apple’s authorization requirements. Apple Fellow Phil Schiller summarized Apple’s position in the EU announcement: “Our priority remains creating the best, most secure possible experience for our users in the EU and around the world.”
Apple describes its EU notarization review as a baseline security check and says its safeguards reduce—but do not eliminate—risk. That is Apple’s description of its framework, not a guarantee that every app delivered through an alternative marketplace is safe. Keep iOS updated, install only from the official Epic flow, and review the permissions and account requests shown during setup.

How widespread is the iPhone version?
Epic’s regulatory disclosure, updated August 15, 2025, estimated an average of 1.6 million monthly active recipients in the EU for the Epic Games Store mobile app over the preceding six months. That is a historical EU estimate from Epic, not a current worldwide total and not an iPhone-only measurement. It should not be used to predict availability in a country that Epic does not list.
The disclosure is available as a PDF from Epic. Because regional rules, iOS versions, and installation screens can change, use the live support pages when you are ready to install.
Practical checklist before you tap Install
- Identify whether you are installing on an iPhone or an iPad.
- Confirm that your current physical location is one of Epic’s listed supported regions.
- Check the exact iOS or iPadOS version in Settings.
- Compare that version with the regional minimum, not merely with an installation-page heading.
- Open Epic’s page in Safari on the target device.
- Be prepared to approve marketplace apps from Epic Games Inc. in Settings.
- If the prompt fails, retry, restart, and then consider clearing Safari website data.
- If you are about to leave the region, understand the 90-day update period for apps already installed.
- Use Epic’s current country list rather than assuming that a nearby country or an Apple marketplace rule guarantees access.

Can I install it while travelling outside the EU, Japan, or Brazil?
