Yes, but only ordinary, non-boss Eternal Guardsmen are clearly repeatable farming targets. Resting at a Lantern revives every non-boss enemy, allowing a clear-and-rest loop for Catalysts. The seven named Oathbound encounters are different: their guides document one guard in each of seven regions and a seven-piece quest progression, but no cited source confirms that their emblems or Mysterious Stone Pyramids respawn for repeat farming.
A 90-second Outer Courtyard respawn claim exists in a 2026 community build guide, but it is not an official timer. Treat it as an unverified route-specific observation rather than a guarantee for every patch, platform or location.
What you can—and cannot—farm
“Eternal Guard” covers two categories that should not be treated the same way. Ordinary, non-boss Eternal Guardsmen are affected by the Lantern reset rule. You can defeat them, return to a Lantern, rest, and fight them again. That is the reliable farming mechanic.

Collecting the complete seven-item set produces the slab used to complete The Oathbound. The Fortress entry matters because it is a corpse-loot interaction, not a conventional boss fight; do not wait beside it expecting the same combat reset behavior as a normal guard.
How ordinary Eternal Guardsmen respawn
The general mechanics reference gives a clear reset trigger: resting at a Lantern revives all non-boss enemies. It also says that death returns you to the last Lantern you rekindled. Together, those rules make a repeatable route possible without relying on an undocumented clock.

- Rekindle or identify the nearest Lantern. Use a Lantern close enough to the guards that the return trip does not erase the value of the run. Rekindling establishes the location to which you return if you die.
- Clear the ordinary, non-boss guards. Defeat the nearby pack and collect the Catalysts that drop. Do not assume a named Oathbound encounter is part of this reset loop; the documented rule applies to non-boss enemies.
- Return to the Lantern. Walk back after collecting the payout. If the route includes additional enemies, account for their damage and the chance of losing carried Catalysts before deciding whether to push farther.
- Rest at the Lantern. Resting fully restores Health and Nephtoglobin and revives all non-boss enemies. This is the documented reset action, not a menu option or a timed wait.
- Repeat the clear-and-rest cycle. The same pack can be farmed again after the rest. Spend or bank Catalysts regularly rather than carrying a large unprotected total through extra fights.
If a guard does not return after resting, first confirm that it is an ordinary non-boss enemy, that you actually completed the rest interaction, and that the enemy was not a named quest target or a corpse-loot object. A failed reset in one location is not evidence that all Eternal Guards are non-respawning.
What loot and payout figures are documented?
The quest guards and ordinary guards serve different purposes. Named Oathbound encounters advance a fixed seven-part quest set. Ordinary guards supply currency for repeated runs. Two third-party sources report very different Catalyst figures, and their provenance and units are not equivalent.

Do not average, add or otherwise combine those numbers. They may refer to different enemy definitions, reward units, areas or measurement methods. The 1,200–2,700 range is explicitly tied to a PC launch build and October 2026 data collection. The 8–12 claim comes from a separate community guide and lacks enough methodological detail to reconcile it with the larger range.

No publisher-authored source in the available material publishes an official Eternal Guard respawn timer or an authoritative per-kill Catalyst statistic. Patch changes, platform differences and inconsistent use of the term “Eternal Guard” can all change what a player observes.

Is the Outer Courtyard timer real?
A 2026 community build guide claims that an Outer Courtyard guard returns every 90 seconds and yields 8–12 Catalysts per kill. That statement should be labeled exactly what it is: an unverified community figure. It is not an official value, and there is no evidence here that the timer applies to every Eternal Guard, every platform or every later patch.
Use the Lantern rule as the dependable reset method. If you test the Outer Courtyard route, measure it on your own build after a complete rest and several cycles. A guard appearing after roughly 90 seconds may reflect travel time, an area-specific script or a particular launch version rather than a universal timer. Never plan a high-risk run on the assumption that the number cannot change.

Protecting Catalysts while farming
Catalysts are not safe simply because you have already picked them up. The death rules create a recoverable—but potentially permanent—loss.
- On death, you drop all carried Catalysts at the location of death.
- You respawn at the last Lantern you rekindled.
- You can return to the death location and retrieve the dropped Catalysts.
- If you die again before retrieving them, the lost Catalysts are gone forever.
That makes banking discipline part of the farm. After a profitable clear, use the safest available opportunity to spend or secure Catalysts before extending the route. Rekindle the Lantern before beginning a run so a death does not send you to an inconvenient checkpoint. If a retrieval path is dangerous, clear a smaller group first, return to rest, and only then attempt the recovery.

Compare locations using the factors that actually affect your return, not just the largest reported payout.

For routine currency, favor a compact group of ordinary guards near a Lantern. For quest completion, follow the regional Oathbound checklist and collect each emblem and pyramid once; do not detour repeatedly expecting the quest reward to function like a normal farm.
Troubleshooting a failed farming loop
The guards did not respawn
Check that you rested at the Lantern rather than merely approaching it, and verify that the enemies were non-boss guards. Named quest encounters and the Fortress corpse interaction are not covered by the general non-boss revival statement.
The payout is much smaller or larger than a guide says
Check the guide’s date, platform, build number and definition of “Eternal Guard.” The 1,200–2,700 Catalyst range is tied to PC launch build 25907482 and October 2026 data, while the separate 8–12 figure has unclear units. A mismatch alone does not prove that your save is malfunctioning.
You died before recovering a drop
Return to the first death location immediately if possible. A second death before retrieval permanently removes the dropped Catalysts, so continuing to farm before recovering them increases the chance of an unrecoverable loss.
The Outer Courtyard timer does not match 90 seconds
That number is a community claim, not an official guarantee. Treat the Lantern rest as the supported reset and record your own timing if you continue testing the courtyard route.

Farm ordinary, non-boss Eternal Guardsmen with a Lantern-based clear, return and rest loop. Keep runs short, bank Catalysts before taking unnecessary risks, and remember that a second death destroys an unrecovered drop.
