No. You need a valid Nintendo Museum admission ticket to eat at the onsite Super Family Restaurant (the museum café). Nintendo says the café and shop are inside the museum and are open only to ticket holders, so there is no publicly described street-side entrance for a meal without admission.
The practical consequence is simple: plan the restaurant as one part of a timed museum visit, not as an independent Uji dining stop. Secure entry for the date and time you want, then use the café after you have entered the facility.
Why a museum ticket is required
Nintendo’s official support guidance states that “shops and cafés are located inside the museum, so only those who have purchased tickets can use them.” The Nintendo Museum homepage gives the same rule: “The café and shop are located inside Nintendo Museum and are open only to ticket holders.”

Those statements describe a physical access rule, not a suggestion that visitors should buy a ticket. The food service is located within the ticket-controlled interior of Nintendo Museum. You cannot reach it from an exterior public entrance and then decide whether to enter the exhibits afterward.

Food does not create a separate admission route
Nintendo presents the café as an onsite museum service. Its descriptions mention special drinks and customizable hamburgers, but those offerings do not provide an exception to the admission policy. A desire to eat, rather than view exhibits, still requires the same museum entry permission.
What kind of ticket you need
Nintendo’s ticketing information says admission is tied to a specific date and time. That means a ticket is not simply a day pass that can be used whenever you happen to arrive. Choose an entry slot that gives you enough time to reach the museum and complete the check-in process before you expect to eat.

Timed entry changes how you should plan lunch
Your timed admission controls when you can enter the museum, not a guaranteed restaurant seating time. Treat the meal as something to fit into your visit after admission rather than as the reason to arrive at a particular restaurant hour. If you have a train to catch or another reservation in Uji, leave a margin for entry, exhibits and café availability.
How to plan a visit that includes the restaurant
- Choose the date and entry time. Use Nintendo’s official ticketing channel and select the date and time you intend to visit. A ticket associated with another date or slot should not be assumed to work for your planned arrival.
- Budget for admission separately from food. The adult, youth, child and preschool admission categories are listed above. The ticket price does not establish a meal allowance, and the available sources do not publish a complete current café price list.
- Save the ticket details you will need at entry. Keep the confirmation and any required identification or presentation method available according to the instructions shown when you buy. Do not rely on being able to enter solely because you intend to visit the café.
- Travel to the museum with time to spare. Nintendo lists public-transport approaches and does not provide ordinary visitor parking. Build the walk or bus ride into your arrival plan so you are at the facility for your assigned slot.
- Enter the museum first. The café is available as an internal service after you have passed the museum’s admission control. There is no official indication of a café-only checkpoint outside the museum.
- Check the café’s current availability on the day. Menu items, service hours, queues and any restaurant-specific procedures can change. Confirm the latest visitor information through Nintendo’s official channels before travel and follow instructions displayed inside the museum.
- Keep your onward schedule flexible. A timed entry does not tell you how long a meal queue will be or how quickly you will be served. If you must leave by a fixed time, plan an alternative meal outside the museum rather than assuming the café can meet a precise departure deadline.
Getting to Nintendo Museum
Nintendo lists the museum at 56 Kaguraden, Ogura-cho, Uji, Kyoto. Its access information emphasizes public transportation and gives the following approximate approaches:

The times are Nintendo’s listed estimates, so allow extra time for finding the correct exit, waiting for a bus, weather and the pace of children or anyone using mobility aids. Ordinary visitor parking is unavailable according to Nintendo’s access information. Do not plan on driving to the museum and finding a standard guest car park on arrival.
What the Super Family Restaurant visit actually includes
It is part of the museum experience
The café’s location means your visit combines two activities: entering Nintendo Museum and using an internal food service. You are not buying a restaurant reservation that happens to include museum access. The admission requirement comes first, and the café is one of the services available once you are inside.

Published food details are limited
Nintendo describes special drinks and customizable hamburgers. Those descriptions establish the type of offering, but they do not amount to a complete menu, ingredient list, allergen guide, price sheet or guarantee that every item will be available on every date. If a specific drink, burger configuration or dietary accommodation matters to your group, verify it with Nintendo before setting your itinerary around it.
Restaurant procedures are not separately confirmed
The official information establishing the ticket requirement does not publish a complete independent operating schedule for Super Family Restaurant. It also does not establish a separate restaurant reservation system. The safest assumption is that you must follow the instructions and availability presented by the museum for your visit, rather than expecting an external booking portal or a guaranteed walk-in table.
Can you enter only to buy food or use the shop?
No. Nintendo’s wording covers both cafés and shops: they are inside the museum and open only to people who have purchased tickets. The same admission boundary therefore applies whether your purpose is a meal, a drink, merchandise or a combination of those activities.
A ticket holder who is visiting with other people should not assume that an unticketed companion can pass through solely to sit at the café. The published rule is based on having purchased admission, and Nintendo does not describe a café-only companion exception.

Common scenarios and the correct decision
“I am already in Uji; can I drop in for lunch?”
Only if you also have valid museum admission for that date and time. Being nearby does not replace the ticket requirement. If you have not secured entry, choose a restaurant outside the museum instead.
“Can I buy a ticket at the door because the café is busy?”
Do not rely on that plan. Nintendo’s ticket information is based on date-and-time admission, and the available guidance does not promise same-day availability or an on-site purchase route that will accommodate an unplanned meal. Check official ticket availability before traveling.
“Can I visit the café before my timed entry?”
Your ticket’s assigned time governs entry. Because the café is inside the museum, you should expect to wait until you are admitted rather than treating the restaurant as an outside waiting-area venue. Follow the arrival instructions attached to your ticket.

“Is a meal guaranteed once I have a ticket?”
No guarantee is established by the admission information. A ticket gives you access to the museum and its internal services under the conditions in force during your visit; it does not publish a guaranteed table, serving time or inventory of every menu item.

When dining outside the museum makes more sense
If your main goal is simply to eat, an outside restaurant in Uji avoids the timed-entry requirement. Decide between the onsite café and dining elsewhere using these practical questions:
- Do you already have a museum ticket? Without one, the onsite option is unavailable.
- Is the meal part of a museum day? If you are visiting the exhibits anyway, the internal café can fit naturally into that itinerary.
- Do you need a guaranteed time or a specific menu? The published Nintendo information does not establish a complete café schedule, reservation process or menu, so an independently confirmed restaurant may be easier for a tightly timed meal.
- Can your group travel by public transportation? Nintendo lists station walks and a bus approach, while ordinary visitor parking is unavailable.
- Are dietary or accessibility requirements critical? Confirm the café’s current options directly before committing; the general descriptions of drinks and hamburgers do not answer every dietary question.
This approach keeps the admission decision separate from the dining decision. Buy a museum ticket because you want to enter Nintendo Museum, and regard the café as an available internal service rather than a way to obtain restaurant access without admission.
What is confirmed—and what you should verify
Nintendo’s official statements settle the central question: the café is inside Nintendo Museum and limited to ticket holders. The ticketing page establishes date-and-time admission and lists the 2026 prices. The access page establishes the Uji address, station approaches and lack of ordinary visitor parking.

Checking these items matters because they can change independently of the permanent access rule. A current menu page or day-of notice may differ from an older visitor description, while the requirement to hold museum admission remains the key condition for entering the café area.
Bottom line for trip planning
Super Family Restaurant is not a public restaurant that you can visit from outside Nintendo Museum. You must purchase museum admission, arrive for the date and time on your ticket, and then use the café from inside the facility. For a meal-only stop, plan an independent restaurant in Uji; for a museum visit, reserve admission first and confirm the café’s current details before you travel.
