Chrome does not document a built-in setting for turning off its native right-click menu across the browser. The available controls depend on what you want to change: extension-added entries belong to that extension, a website’s behavior belongs to the site, and Chrome Enterprise policies are for managed environments. Those controls are not interchangeable.
First identify which menu you want to change
| Your goal | Relevant control | What the reviewed Chrome documentation establishes |
|---|---|---|
| Remove or manage entries added by one extension | That extension’s settings or extension management | Chrome documents how extensions add their own entries, but not a universal way to remove entries from third-party extensions. Chrome contextMenus API reference |
| Prevent a website’s own right-click behavior | The website’s code | This is separate from controlling Chrome’s browser interface. The sources reviewed here do not establish implementation instructions. |
| Disable Chrome’s native menu everywhere | A browser setting or managed-browser policy | The Chrome materials reviewed do not establish a built-in setting or general Enterprise policy for this. |
Can you disable Chrome’s native context menu?
The Chrome documentation reviewed does not show a global user setting that disables the native context menu on web pages. Nor did the reviewed Chrome Enterprise policy material identify a general policy for doing so. This is a statement about those reviewed materials, not proof that no organization-specific configuration or future policy could exist.
Chrome describes a context menu as appearing on an “alternate click,” frequently called a right-click. The guide uses that definition while explaining how extensions implement menu entries. Chrome extension context-menu guide

What extensions can control
Chrome’s chrome.contextMenus API is for adding menu items, not for disabling Chrome’s native menu. An extension using the API must declare the contextMenus permission in its manifest. Its entries can be limited to contexts such as a page, frame, selection, link, editable field, image, video, audio, action, or tab; document URL patterns can further limit where an item appears. The API also documents creating and removing items that belong to the extension. Chrome contextMenus API reference

If a menu entry comes from an extension, look in that extension’s own settings or remove or disable the extension through Chrome’s extension management. The exact available option depends on the extension; the API documentation does not provide a universal control for entries contributed by other extensions.
What administrators can conclude from Enterprise policies
Chrome Enterprise maintains policy catalogs for managed browsers and users, including platform-specific policies and app and extension controls. The policy pages reviewed do not identify a general control that disables Chrome’s native page context menu. Administrators should not treat policies for extensions, screenshots, or other browser functions as if they remove that menu. Policy availability and supported platforms can change, so consult the current catalog for the organization’s platform: Chrome Enterprise policy list and Chrome Enterprise extension policies.

If you mean right-click behavior on your own website
A website can handle interactions on its own pages, but that is a site-level change—not a Chrome-wide setting. The Chrome sources cited here do not verify the web-platform event and cancellation rules needed to give reliable implementation steps. Accordingly, this guide does not offer code or claim that a site can reliably suppress the browser menu in every circumstance.

Practical takeaway
- For extension-added items, use the contributing extension’s settings or manage that extension.
- For a website’s own behavior, treat it as a site-development question, separate from Chrome configuration.
- For Chrome’s native menu, the reviewed user and Enterprise documentation establishes no general disable control.
