Yes, you can delete a WoW: Forever beta character through the character-selection screen, but you should treat that deletion as permanent. Blizzard says Game Masters have no access to the beta and cannot restore or otherwise assist with beta characters. There is no documented player reset for an existing character, and beta characters, names and progress will be wiped before the November 4, 2026 launch. If a character is stuck, Blizzard’s practical advice is to create a new one and submit a bug report.
What each option actually does
“Delete,” “reset” and “transfer” describe three different outcomes. The beta supports only the first as a player action, and even that action has no supported recovery path. A reset would return an existing character to an earlier state or level; Blizzard has not documented such a control. A transfer would move a beta character, name or progress into the released game; Blizzard’s launch guidance rules that out.

How to delete a WoW: Forever beta character
Testers have reported that the delete command is available from the beta’s character-selection flow. The exact button wording can change during testing, but the operation follows the normal pattern: choose the character, select the delete control, and confirm the warning.
- Log in to the WoW: Forever beta and wait for the character list to load.
- Select the character you no longer want.
- Choose the available delete command in the character-selection controls.
- Read the confirmation warning carefully and confirm only if you accept permanent loss of that beta character.
- Return to the list and verify that the character is no longer selectable before creating a replacement.
The presence of the control is based on tester reports rather than a published service guarantee. More importantly, deletion is permanent for practical purposes. Blizzard’s Customer Support guidance says Game Masters do not have access or tools to interact with the beta, so there is no supported restoration ticket to undo a mistaken confirmation.

Can Blizzard restore a deleted beta character?
No. A Blizzard Customer Support representative stated: “I’m afraid Game Masters do not have access or tools to interact with Beta. There is no restoration or other assistance that we can provide.” That statement applies to beta-character recovery, including a character deleted from the selection screen.
Do not rely on the restoration expectations that may apply to a different live World of Warcraft service. The beta is a separate test environment, and its support access is intentionally limited. Screenshots, character names, playtime or proof of ownership do not create a restoration route when the support team lacks the necessary beta tools.
- Delete only when you are certain you no longer need the character for testing.
- Do not delete a character merely to solve a temporary login or loading problem.
- If the character is stuck, try the maintenance-related guidance below before abandoning it.
Is there a way to reset a beta character to level 1?
There is no Blizzard-documented button or command that rewinds an existing WoW: Forever beta character to level 1, removes its progress or recreates it with the same name. A reset is therefore not an available, supported workflow.

Commands or interface options discussed by players should not be treated as restoration or reset policy unless Blizzard documents them. A character that appears to have lost progress after a service interruption may be experiencing a bug rather than a legitimate reset operation.
What to do when a beta character is stuck
Blizzard’s guidance for a stuck beta character is limited: maintenance may resolve the issue; if it does not, start a new character and file a bug report. Customer Support cannot manually move, unlock or repair the beta character.
- Wait through scheduled maintenance. Temporary database or login problems can clear when the beta service is restarted. Do not delete the character while waiting.
- Log in again after maintenance. Check whether the character-selection screen and the affected character behave normally.
- Record useful bug details. Note the character name, realm or test environment shown by the client, the action that caused the problem, the time it occurred and any error text. Screenshots can help developers reproduce the issue.
- Submit a bug report through the beta’s reporting channel. A report sends the problem to the test team; it is not a request for character restoration.
- Create a replacement character if you need to keep testing. Blizzard’s quoted recommendation is: “the best I can recommend is start a new character.”
This process separates a service bug from a deletion decision. A new character lets you continue testing, while the report preserves information about the failed one for developers.

Will a beta character transfer to the November 4 launch?
No. WoW: Forever beta characters are not copies waiting to be moved into the release game. Blizzard’s beta discussion explains that the characters exist in beta rather than release, and the official stress-test notice is explicit: “This is a complete wipe; names and everything else will be completely removed.”

The published beta window runs from September 17 through October 21, 2026. The Forever launch is listed for November 4, 2026. The gap between those dates does not represent a transfer period or a migration process. When the test ends, the wipe removes the test data instead of promoting it to the launch environment.
That means you should expect to recreate your launch character, even if you have already finished levels, quests or professions in the beta. There is no supported export, copy, snapshot or account-side conversion for ordinary beta characters.
Do beta names, levels or progress carry over?
No. The wipe covers “names and everything else,” so a preferred beta name is not reserved by the fact that you used it during testing. Levels, equipment, gold, professions, quest state, achievements earned in the beta and other character data should all be treated as temporary test data.
If a name matters to you at launch, plan to claim it again through the normal release character-creation process. Another tester may choose it first, and beta use does not establish ownership or priority. Likewise, screenshots or logs can document what you achieved for personal reference, but they cannot convert that progress into launch rewards.

Can a GM move a stuck beta character?
No. The support statement specifically says Game Masters have no access or tools to interact with the beta. That rules out common requests such as moving a character to a safe location, changing its realm, removing a debuff, restoring deleted items or copying it to another account or ruleset.
Submitting a support ticket may still produce a clarification, but it should not be expected to produce an intervention. The supported path is maintenance, then a bug report and a new character if testing must continue.

Blizzard separately documents a Hardcore rule under which a character that dies can transfer to another ruleset, including PvP, when Hardcore becomes available. That is a live-game ruleset transition triggered by a Hardcore death. It is not a method for migrating an ordinary beta character, preserving beta progress or preparing a character for the November release.
Keep these concepts separate:
- Beta wipe: removes test characters, names and progress when the beta ends.
- Hardcore death transfer: changes the ruleset of an eligible live-game character under the Hardcore rules.
- Beta character deletion: removes a selected test character and has no supported restoration.
Seeing “transfer” in Hardcore documentation does not imply that a beta character can be copied to launch or moved between beta environments.

Choosing between deleting, rerolling and waiting
Delete when the character is expendable
Use the delete control if the character was created only for a short test and you are certain you will not need its data again. Because restoration is unavailable, treat the confirmation as final even though the beta itself will later be wiped.
Reroll when the character is stuck or misconfigured
Start a new character instead of deleting a problematic one. This is Blizzard’s recommended workaround and lets you continue testing while retaining the original state for a bug report.
Wait when the issue may be service-related
If the problem began during an outage, patch or maintenance period, wait for the service to return before making an irreversible choice. A temporary login failure is not evidence that the character must be deleted.
Plan for recreation before launch
Do not spend time looking for an export or migration option. Save only the information you personally want to remember—such as talent choices, keybinds or a preferred name—and expect to build the character again after November 4.
Practical checklist before the beta closes
- Assume every beta character and name will disappear after the complete wipe.
- Do not delete a stuck character while waiting for maintenance.
- File a bug report with reproducible steps rather than opening a restoration request.
- Create a new character if you need to continue testing immediately.
- Capture personal notes or screenshots if you want to reproduce a build at launch.
- Do not interpret Hardcore ruleset-transfer documentation as a beta migration promise.
The bottom line on WoW: Forever beta characters
You can delete a WoW: Forever beta character from character selection, but there is no supported way to restore it. Blizzard has not documented a reset function, and Game Masters cannot move or repair beta characters. For a stuck toon, wait through maintenance, report the bug and reroll if necessary. Most importantly, beta characters, names and progress will be completely wiped before the November 4, 2026 release, so every launch character must be created again.
