Yes. Leaving the Deserter encampment does not permanently lock the quest. You can return to the Vale of Wrath, search the three relevant apiaries for their unmarked beehives, and continue along the quest route. The third Anubis Figurine Part is deliberately found after you leave the encampment and cross the long bridge into the next section. After Chapter 5, the Under the Bridge Lantern is reported as a fast-travel destination, giving you a direct way back if you moved on.
What leaving the area actually means
The Deserter is designed around movement away from its starting point. It begins in the Vale of Wrath near the Under the Bridge Lantern, but its final collection step takes place beyond the encampment. Crossing the long bridge is therefore part of the intended route, not evidence that you abandoned or failed the quest.
The quest uses three Anubis Figurine Parts. Each part is hidden in a beehive, and the relevant hives are not necessarily marked as quest objects. The important detail is that the target hives are distributed across three apiaries: one unmarked hive in each apiary. Searching every visible hive at random can make the objective seem broken when the real issue is that one apiary has not been checked.
Once the third part is collected, the pieces rebuild the Anubis Figurine and the quest completes. There is no separate item-repair process described for this objective.

How to finish The Deserter after you have left
1. Confirm that the quest is still available
Open your quest journal and look for The Deserter among the side-quest entries. This is useful even when you remember accepting it: the journal tells you whether the game still considers the quest active and can help distinguish an unfinished objective from a quest that has already completed.
If it is not shown as active, check the journal’s completed or resolved side-quest entries before assuming it disappeared. A missing objective marker can also mean that the next step is outside the immediate area rather than that the quest was cancelled.
2. Return to the Under the Bridge Lantern
The starting reference point is the Under the Bridge Lantern in the Vale of Wrath. After Chapter 5, walkthrough guidance reports that this lantern can be reached through fast travel. Select it from your available lantern destinations if it is unlocked in your playthrough.

If fast travel is not available, use the ordinary route back to the Vale of Wrath instead of treating the absence of a fast-travel option as proof of missability. The key requirement is reaching the lantern and the nearby encampment; the quest does not require you to remain there continuously.
3. Re-enter the encampment and search the three apiaries
From the lantern, return to the Deserter area and inspect the apiaries methodically. The reliable search pattern is one unmarked hive in each of the three apiaries. Do not use visible quest markers as your only guide, because the target hives are described as unmarked.
- Choose one apiary and inspect its hives rather than moving immediately to another area.
- Record mentally which apiary you have completed so you do not search the same cluster repeatedly.
- Move to the second apiary and repeat the inspection.
- Check the third apiary before leaving the encampment.
The objective is not to collect from every hive you can see. It is to locate the one relevant, unmarked hive in each apiary. If you have already collected one or two parts, concentrate on the apiaries you have not conclusively checked.

4. Continue beyond the encampment
The third part is obtained after leaving the encampment and crossing the long bridge into the next section. This is the step most likely to be mistaken for a missed opportunity: a player may assume the quest ends at the starting settlement and turn around when the path continues outward.

5. Collect the third part and wait for the completion update
When the last Anubis Figurine Part is collected, the three pieces rebuild the Anubis Figurine and The Deserter completes. Give the quest state a moment to update before fast-traveling away or opening another activity. If the completion does not appear immediately, remain in the area and verify that the item was actually collected rather than merely inspected.

Is The Deserter permanently missable?

You cannot find the last apiary
- Start at the Under the Bridge Lantern and map your search by apiary rather than by individual hive.
- Use the long bridge as the route boundary: the quest continues beyond the encampment.
- If you stopped searching at the settlement, cross into the next section and continue there.
The third part was collected but the quest remains active
- Stay in the area briefly and check whether the Anubis Figurine rebuilds.
- Reopen the quest journal to force a fresh view of the objective state.
- Make sure the interaction actually awarded the item; inspecting a hive without receiving the part is not the same as collecting it.
The Under the Bridge Lantern is not listed for fast travel
- Confirm that your save has progressed beyond Chapter 5, the point at which fast-travel access is reported.
- Return to the Vale of Wrath by the normal route and interact with the lantern directly.
- Check for a patch-specific progression issue before concluding that the side quest is permanently lost.
Should you finish it immediately or come back later?
There is no need to rush back solely because you crossed the bridge. The quest route itself expects you to leave the encampment, and later fast travel can provide a convenient return. Your choice mainly depends on how much of the search you have already completed.
