No. Sony says an account’s country/region is permanent after creation, so there is no official setting for switching your PlayStation Store to a cheaper country. A voucher from another region will also fail unless its region matches your account.
You can still reduce what you spend, but the reliable options are sales, subscriptions and promotions offered in your existing Store region, plus correctly matched wallet top-ups. VPNs, made-up billing details and region-bypass sellers are not methods Sony’s cited documentation authorizes.

What Sony’s country and region rule means
The country/region is attached to a PlayStation account when that account is created. Sony’s support guidance is explicit: “Once created, your country/region can’t be changed.” Its direct answer to requests to switch Store countries is equally clear: “No. You can’t change your account’s country/region after your account has been created.”

PlayStation Store content and services vary by country or region. That can affect which games, add-ons, subscriptions, payment options or promotions are shown. The variation does not create a supported process for moving an existing account to whichever market has the lowest price.
Why a cheaper foreign Store price is not a supported shortcut
Regional pricing can make the same game appear at different prices, but the available evidence does not establish a typical percentage saving or guarantee that another country will be cheaper after currency conversion, taxes or local promotions. Sony’s published guidance focuses on account-region permanence and voucher compatibility; it does not promise that changing location, using a VPN or entering a different billing address will unlock another market.
A VPN changes the apparent network location of a device. It does not rewrite the country/region recorded on a PlayStation account. Likewise, entering a foreign address that is not your genuine billing information is not identified by Sony as an approved way to change the account’s Store country.

Region-bypass sellers may advertise codes or accounts from another market, but Sony’s cited documentation does not establish that such transactions are safe, supported or permitted. It also does not provide a definitive statement about account sanctions for every possible workaround. That uncertainty is itself a reason not to treat a bypass as a dependable money-saving plan.
Voucher and gift-card region matching
Sony states: “The voucher code needs to be for the same region as your account.” A code bought for a different country is therefore not an interchangeable discount coupon; it is the wrong product for that account.
Sony identifies a PlayStation Store gift card as a way to add funds to a wallet. Physical vouchers display a country/region flag, which gives you a visible check before you pay. Digital listings can use country names, currency symbols or region labels instead, so read the seller’s description carefully and keep the receipt until redemption succeeds.

How to check your region before buying a code
- Confirm the account you will fund. Make sure you are signed in to the PlayStation account that owns the games, subscriptions or wallet balance you intend to use.
- Verify its country/region in your account details. Use the account-management information associated with that account; do this before opening a voucher listing or handing over payment.
- Match the listing exactly. The country or region on the gift card or voucher must be the same as the account region. Do not rely only on a similar currency symbol or a seller’s claim that the code is “global.”
- Inspect a physical card. Sony says physical vouchers display a country/region flag. Compare that flag with the account’s region before scratching or revealing the code.
- Keep proof of purchase. Retain the receipt, order number and listing details until the code has redeemed and the wallet balance appears.
If you cannot determine the account region, pause the purchase rather than guessing. A low advertised price is not a saving if the code cannot be added to your wallet.

A region mismatch is the first issue to investigate when a code bought abroad is rejected. The error does not mean that repeatedly entering the code, changing your IP address or switching console settings will make it compatible.
- Stop repeated attempts. Preserve the code exactly as supplied, including hyphens and any letter or number that could be confused.
- Recheck the account region. Compare the account’s country/region with the country or region printed on the card or stated in the digital order.
- Check the seller’s terms. Look for an explicit regional restriction and confirm whether the code was intended for a different country.
- Contact the seller with evidence. Provide the receipt and the redemption error, but do not send the complete code publicly or to an unverified contact.
- Use the platform’s support channel if necessary. Have the purchase receipt, order number and error message ready. Support may be able to explain the failure, but it cannot be assumed that a foreign code will be converted to your region.
Do not buy a second code from the same listing until the first problem is resolved. Otherwise you can turn one incompatible purchase into several.

Legitimate ways to pay less in your existing region
Watch the official Store sales calendar
Use promotions presented in the Store attached to your account. Seasonal campaigns, publisher discounts and short weekend offers can change the price without requiring any account-country change. Add desired games to a watch list or note their normal price so that a genuine discount is easy to recognize.
Compare editions before purchasing
Check what each edition includes and whether you already own an expansion, upgrade entitlement or soundtrack. The cheapest headline price is not always the lowest cost for the content you actually want. Avoid buying a deluxe edition twice when an upgrade path is available in your region.

A subscription can lower the effective cost when you regularly use its catalog or online features. Compare the plan offered in your account’s region with your expected play time and the games you would otherwise buy. Regional catalogs and benefits differ, so a subscription advertised for another country is not a substitute for checking your local offer.

Use publisher promotions and bundles available to your account
Publishers sometimes discount a series bundle, a cross-generation license or a complete edition more heavily than individual items. Confirm the included platforms and add-ons before checkout; a bundle that omits the expansion you need may not be the better deal.
Choose a correctly matched gift card when it is discounted
A legitimate sale on a PlayStation Store gift card can reduce your out-of-pocket cost, provided the card is for the account’s own region. Apply the same region check to cards bought online, in a supermarket or from a marketplace seller. A discount does not override the region requirement.

The documented rule establishes that an account’s country/region cannot be changed after creation. It does not provide a supported procedure for manufacturing a cheaper regional identity, and the cited Sony material does not authorize false billing details or VPN-based purchasing. Creating an account with information that does not accurately represent your circumstances can also create practical complications around payment, ownership, wallet funds and customer support.

Do not assume that a game bought on a second account will behave like a purchase on your main account. Licenses, downloadable content and subscriptions can have account and region dependencies. Before committing money, read the current Sony terms and support guidance that applies to your country and account type.
A quick decision checklist
- Want a lower price? First compare sales, subscriptions, bundles and publisher promotions in the Store region already attached to your account.
- Buying a voucher? Verify the account region, then buy a card or code carrying that exact region.
- Considering a VPN? Treat it as unsupported for changing the account country; it does not alter the account record.
- Considering a foreign address? Do not use false billing details as a workaround documented by Sony.
- Code rejected? Stop retrying, check the region flag or listing, preserve the receipt and contact the seller or official support.
The practical rule is simple: keep the account you use, buy for its recorded region and save money through offers that region officially provides. That approach avoids paying for a code that cannot be redeemed while staying within the limits Sony has described.
