Yes, a community-posted Windows Setup workaround uses Registry Editor to bypass the TPM and Secure Boot checks. It is not an official Microsoft-supported fix, does not make unsupported hardware meet Windows 11 requirements, and may not work with every Setup build. First check whether the features are supported but disabled in your PC’s firmware; enabling them is the safer option when available.
Check whether your PC can enable TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot
Windows 11’s official requirements include TPM 2.0 and UEFI firmware with Secure Boot capability, as well as an approved processor, at least 4 GB of RAM, and at least 64 GB of storage. Home and Pro editions for personal use also require internet connectivity and a Microsoft account during initial setup. The registry workaround below addresses only the TPM and Secure Boot checks; it does not bypass the other requirements. See Microsoft’s Windows 11 system requirements.
Check TPM status and version
In Windows, open Windows Security and look for the Security processor details, or press Win + R, enter tpm.msc, and press Enter. Confirm that the specification version is 2.0. If TPM is absent or not ready, that does not by itself prove the PC lacks the capability: TPM may be disabled in firmware. Microsoft’s TPM 2.0 guidance explains how to check and points to manufacturer-specific firmware settings.

Secure Boot requires UEFI. Check your PC maker’s instructions before changing firmware settings; menus and labels differ by manufacturer and model. If the PC is using a legacy boot mode, Secure Boot may not be available to enable until the firmware configuration is addressed. Microsoft explains the relationship in its Windows 11 and Secure Boot guide.

Registry workaround during Windows Setup
The following sequence is reported in a Microsoft Community Hub discussion posted June 24, 2024. It is community guidance, not an official Microsoft installation instruction or guarantee that a current Setup build will accept the change.
- Boot into Windows Setup and stop when the “This PC can’t run Windows 11” compatibility message appears.
- Open Registry Editor from Setup. The community procedure uses
Shift + F10to open Command Prompt, then entersregeditand presses Enter. - In Registry Editor, go to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMSetup. - If a key named
LabConfigis not already present underSetup, create it: right-clickSetup, chooseNew > Key, and name itLabConfig. - Inside
LabConfig, create aDWORD (32-bit) ValuenamedBypassTPMCheck. Set its value data to1. - Create another
DWORD (32-bit) ValuenamedBypassSecureBootCheckand set its value data to1. - Close Registry Editor and Command Prompt, return to Windows Setup, and retry the compatibility check.
Use the exact names and value data shown. These entries tell Setup to skip the named checks; they do not enable TPM or Secure Boot, supply missing hardware capabilities, or bypass every Windows 11 requirement.

What installing on unsupported hardware means
Microsoft does not recommend installing Windows 11 on a device that fails its minimum requirements. Its warning says an unsupported device may not receive support or updates, including security updates. The bypass therefore trades a possible path through Setup for an unsupported configuration, without a promise of compatibility or updates. Read Microsoft’s unsupported-device warning, updated December 12, 2024.
If Windows 11 has already been installed on ineligible hardware, Microsoft’s installation guidance, updated February 4, 2025, recommends rolling back to Windows 10. Follow Microsoft’s current instructions for the available rollback options on your device.

Choose the safer route for your PC
- TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot are supported but disabled: Check the manufacturer’s instructions and enable the features in firmware, then run the compatibility check again.
- The PC lacks a required capability or another requirement: The registry values do not make the device eligible. Avoid treating a successful Setup attempt as proof that the PC is supported.
- You still choose to proceed with the workaround: Understand that Windows Setup may reject it and that Microsoft warns unsupported devices may not receive support or updates.
For official installation options, use Microsoft’s Windows 11 installation methods. Installation media can start Setup, but it does not itself bypass compatibility checks.
