Short answer: not according to Rockstar’s information available on October 18, 2026. Rockstar has not confirmed MP3 or WAV imports, Spotify playlists, a custom station, or a GTA V-style Self Radio feature for Grand Theft Auto VI. The announced game includes curated radio stations and podcasts. Treat videos or posts claiming otherwise as unconfirmed until Rockstar documents the feature in an official update, support article, or launch notes.
What is confirmed about GTA 6 music?
Rockstar’s current Grand Theft Auto VI music announcement describes a large selection of in-game radio and podcasts, not a system for importing music. Its wording is: “Spanning stations dedicated to everything from Classic Rock to Talk Radio, Grand Theft Auto VI features the biggest and widest-ranging selection of in-game radio and podcasts yet.”
That distinction matters. A curated station is content selected and delivered by the game. A personal station would require Rockstar to explain how the game finds audio files, receives a streaming playlist, stores tracks, handles licensing, and exposes controls. None of those user-music controls appears in the current announcement.

Not confirmed does not mean impossible. It means Rockstar has not announced or documented the capability, so there is no supported GTA VI setup procedure to follow yet.

Which GTA 6 stations has Rockstar previewed?
Rockstar has previewed six stations on its GTA VI music page. Their descriptions indicate the musical direction of the launch lineup, but they do not indicate that players can add songs to any of them.

The announcement says this is a preview, so the six named stations should not be treated as the complete final radio roster unless Rockstar later says so. It also describes podcasts as part of the audio offering. Podcasts are programmed game content; they are not evidence of a player-controlled audio feed.
Does GTA 6 have Self Radio like GTA 5 on PC?
There is no confirmed GTA VI equivalent of Self Radio. The current Rockstar announcement does not use the Self Radio name and does not describe a local-folder scanner, a custom station slot, or a PC-only music mode.

A feature that exists in a PC edition does not automatically carry over to console editions, and the reverse can also be true. Rockstar has not stated whether any future personal-music feature would be limited to PC, available on consoles, restricted to single-player, or disabled in online play.
If you see a claim that Self Radio is already working in GTA VI, check whether it comes from an official Rockstar support page or patch note and whether it identifies the platform and game version. A fan-made menu image, an edited video, or a feature request is not confirmation.

Can you import MP3 or WAV files into GTA 6?
Rockstar has not documented MP3 or WAV importing for GTA VI. No current official instruction tells players where to put files, how the game would rescan them, or how a custom playlist would appear in the radio wheel.
The absence of instructions is important because file-based playback requires more than a station name. A supported implementation would need to specify accepted formats, folder location, scanning behavior, duplicate handling, metadata, pause and skip controls, and what happens when a file is missing or unreadable. GTA VI’s announcement provides none of those details.
Do not copy an older game’s folder instructions into a GTA VI installation and expect them to work. A folder used by an earlier title may not exist in GTA VI, and creating one yourself would not make it an officially supported feature.
What did earlier GTA games do?
Rockstar’s support documentation for Mac versions of Grand Theft Auto III, Vice City, and San Andreas describes a user-music system. Players could place MP3 or WAV files in the relevant User Tracks folder and, while driving, select the game’s MP3 station to hear a custom playlist. That support article was last updated June 12, 2023.

- Copy those files into the title’s relevant User Tracks folder.
- Start the game so it can detect the tracks according to that title’s support instructions.
- While driving, choose the MP3 station.
Those steps describe the older Mac titles covered by Rockstar’s article, not GTA VI. They establish precedent for Rockstar having supported local music before, but precedent is not a product promise. GTA VI’s current announcement does not mention User Tracks, local-file scanning, or an MP3 station.

Spotify integration is unconfirmed. Rockstar has not announced an account-linking flow, an in-game playlist picker, background streaming, or any other connection between GTA VI radio and a personal streaming service.
A streaming integration would also raise questions that Rockstar has not answered: whether playback would continue offline, which regions and platforms would support it, how licensing would work, whether songs could be skipped, and whether the service would function during online sessions. Until Rockstar publishes those details, a video showing a playlist on a phone or computer is not evidence of in-game integration.
Playing music through a separate device would be external audio rather than a GTA VI radio station. It would not add tracks to the station list, alter station metadata, or provide proof that the game supports Spotify.
Can you customize or skip GTA 6 radio songs?
Rockstar has not stated that players can edit station playlists or choose which announced songs play. It has also not published a GTA VI rule for skipping individual tracks. The confirmed information covers the existence and themes of curated stations and podcasts, not user controls.

That means you should separate three different ideas:
- Changing stations: selecting among the game’s programmed stations, if the final controls work as expected.
- Skipping a song: moving past the currently playing track, which has not been documented for GTA VI.
- Adding your own music: importing files or connecting a playlist, which is also unconfirmed.
One of these features could exist without the others. For example, a game might allow station changes but provide no song skip and no custom files. Rockstar has not published enough information to infer the control set.
What is GTA VI: The Album?
Rockstar lists Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album as 34 original tracks credited to Rockstar Games in 2026. The music page links to pre-order vinyl and CD editions.
This album is official GTA VI music, but it is not a player-import feature. Buying or streaming the album would give you access to the album’s tracks outside the game; it would not, based on the current announcement, place those tracks into a custom in-game station or let you replace a radio playlist.
What can you do in the meantime?
Use the announced in-game audio
The supported expectation is that GTA VI will provide its own curated stations and podcasts. The six previewed stations cover modern Latin, renegade country, Amapiano and African music, metal, pop, and regional rap and hip-hop.

Do not rely on unofficial folder guides
Guides that tell you to create a User Tracks folder, rename files, or install a supposed Self Radio package may be describing an older GTA title, a mod, or a rumor. Unless Rockstar identifies the procedure for GTA VI and your platform, it is not an official solution.
Check official documentation after launch
A future update could change the answer. The most reliable places to look are Rockstar’s GTA VI music page, Rockstar Support, and Rockstar Newswire. Search those pages for terms such as User Tracks, Self Radio, custom station, local music, MP3, and playlist. Confirm the publication date, the supported platform, and whether the instructions apply to single-player, online play, or both.
How to evaluate a future personal-music feature
If Rockstar adds custom audio, compare the implementation on the points below rather than assuming it works like an earlier game.

- Find the original announcement. Prefer a Rockstar Support article, GTA VI music-page update, Newswire post, or official patch note.
- Check the date and version. A statement about a test build, preview, or older game may not apply to the current release.
- Check the platform. Look for explicit PC, PlayStation, Xbox, or other platform information rather than assuming universal support.
- Identify the audio source. Confirm whether the feature uses local MP3/WAV files, a named streaming service, or only Rockstar’s own soundtrack.
- Read the usage limits. Look for single-player versus online restrictions, offline behavior, file-format limits, and privacy or account requirements.
- Test the documented result. If the instructions are official, the expected station name, menu path, or folder location should be stated clearly enough to reproduce.
This process avoids confusing GTA III, Vice City, San Andreas, or GTA V instructions with GTA VI support.
Bottom line for GTA 6 players
As of October 18, 2026, you cannot point to an officially confirmed way to add your own music to GTA VI radio stations. Rockstar has confirmed curated stations, podcasts, and a 34-track official album, while MP3/WAV import, Spotify playlists, Self Radio, custom stations, playlist editing, and song-skipping rules remain undocumented. Earlier GTA Mac games used User Tracks and an MP3 station, but that historical feature does not establish GTA VI compatibility. Recheck Rockstar’s support and Newswire pages after launch before trusting any setup guide.
