There is no supported blanket answer that the Steam Machine holds 60 FPS in more than 100 games at every resolution. The available evidence shows that results vary by game, resolution, graphics preset, and upscaling: some demanding games fall below 60 FPS even at 1080p Ultra, while a less demanding older game reached a 60 FPS cap at 4K. A Reddit author says they tested more than 100 games while targeting 60 FPS, but the surfaced post does not provide enough game-by-game data or protocol details to verify that count or reproduce the results.
What do the reported tests actually establish?
They establish that Steam Machine performance is game- and settings-dependent, not that every tested title sustains a fixed frame rate across 1080p, 1440p, and 4K. The Reddit post describes a personal evaluation of more than 100 games over two months, with visual quality considered alongside a 60 FPS target. The author also says they may prefer 1440p at 60 FPS over a poor-looking 4K/60 result. That is the tester’s stated approach, not a universal recommendation or a verified lab-wide finding. Read the Reddit test report.
A separate SteamHardware.io Top 100 tracker lists 100 ranked games and reported settings. Its page combines community reports with source-backed observations; it is useful for finding reported configurations, but it is not a standardized controlled test of 100 titles. The two sources therefore should not be combined into one confirmed test count or used to calculate the percentage of games that meet 60 FPS.
Which game results have specific numbers?
The available review figures show why a resolution label or target alone is not enough. Each result below belongs to its named game and stated test conditions; it is not a prediction for other titles.

| Game and source | Resolution and settings | Reported result |
|---|---|---|
| Starfield — GamersNexus | 1080p, Ultra | 41 FPS average |
| Oblivion Remastered — GamersNexus | 1080p, Ultra, no upscaling | 27 FPS average |
| SoulCalibur 6 — Tom’s Hardware | 4K, maximum graphics settings | Reached the game’s 60 FPS frame limit; the reviewer notes that this 2018 title is not especially demanding |
These are average-FPS or frame-limit results, not a complete account of frame-time consistency in every scene. The cited figures do not establish matching results at other settings or with different upscaling modes.
Does 4K output mean a game is rendered at 4K?
No. A 4K-capable display does not, by itself, show that the game renders internally at 4K. Output resolution, internal rendering resolution, and any upscaling are different parts of the setup. Reports need to identify which one they mean before their FPS figures can be compared fairly.

- RYZEN 7 H 255 CPU - The Ryzen 7 H 255 is a chip from the Hawk Point family and is an upgraded version of the older Ryzen 7 8745H and has 8 cores (16 threads thanks to SMT support) that run at up to 4.9 GHz, together with the powerful Radeon 780M iGPU. Unlike Zen 3, Zen 4 offers AVX512 support along with other improvements such as larger caches/registers/buffers across the board.
- GAMING PC - The Radeon 780M (12 CUs / 768 shaders, up to 2,600 MHz) can drive multiple displays simultaneously with a resolution of up to 8K. Hardware encoding and hardware decoding of the most common video codecs (AV1, AVC, HEVC) is also no problem; playing the latest games on FSR settings without issues.
- WHY CHOOSE DDR5 5600MHz DUAL CHANNEL (2×16GB): With a 5600MHz clock—a 17% frequency uplift over 4800MHz—this kit delivers massive bandwidth gains that elevate real-world performance. Gamers enjoy higher minimum FPS and less stutter in open-world and sim titles for a smoother competitive experience. Video editors and 3D creators benefit from faster 4K/8K timeline scrubbing, quicker renders in DaVinci Resolve and Premiere, and swifter asset loading. For AI/LLM workloads, the superior throughput reduces I/O bottlenecks, cuts token generation latency, and accelerates model fine-tuning by keeping processing cores fed with data—so you wait less and create more.
- 32GB DDR5 RAM + 512GB SSD - The K12 mini computer is equipped with Dual 16GB (Total 32GB) SO-DIMM DDR5 5600MHz memory sticks. 512GB PCIE 4.0 SSD Drive with 3x M.2 2280 Expansion slots. Each slot capable of reading up to 8TB. (24TB MAX)
- QUAD SCREEN 4K DISPLAY SUPPORT - K12 Mini PC support 4-screen 4K/8K output via HDMI 2.1 (8K@60Hz), DisplayPort 1.4 (4K@60Hz), and USB Type-C Transfer speed (supporting PD3.0/DP1.4/DATA). Ideal for gaming, video editing, and multitasking, it provides expansive and crisp multi-display support.
Valve representatives told Tom’s Hardware that “1080p is the system default game resolution on Steam Machine to ensure a good gameplay experience out of the box.” The reviewer says the maximum resolution can be changed globally or per game. Tom’s Hardware tested at 1080p, 1440p, and 4K using settings designed for Steam Deck comparisons; its review reports that some games ran at 4K and others did not. Cyberpunk 2077 on the Steam Deck preset is one example cited as not running at 4K. These observations do not establish performance at every preset or upscaling option. Tom’s Hardware’s review describes its results and the resolution statement.

- Game and test scene: performance can vary within a game, so the location or repeatable scene matters.
- Resolution: check whether the figure refers to display output or internal rendering resolution.
- Graphics preset: “Ultra,” “maximum,” and a handheld-oriented preset are not interchangeable.
- Upscaling: identify whether it is enabled and, where reported, the mode or quality setting.
- Frame-rate evidence: an average of 60 FPS does not by itself prove the game never falls below the target; frame-time lows and repeatability add useful context.
- Measurement environment: operating system and monitoring tool can affect comparisons.
GamersNexus says it logs Linux performance with MangoHud and cautions that comparing those measurements with Windows PresentMon involves different tools, operating systems, and graphics pipelines. Cross-review and cross-OS figures should therefore be treated as methodologically different unless the test conditions are aligned. GamersNexus explains its test method and results.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What does “more than 100 games tested” mean here?
It is the Reddit author’s stated count, not an independently verified benchmark total. The surfaced post does not establish the complete title list, exact game versions and settings at each resolution, scene selection, time spent testing each game, or repeatability. It also does not provide enough information to verify every result as a controlled 1080p-to-4K comparison. Treat the count as the author’s description of their own testing, rather than as a confirmed dataset.

The broader hardware context also needs careful wording. Valve describes Steam Machine as a small-form-factor gaming device with a semi-custom AMD desktop-class CPU and GPU, and characterizes it as “roughly 6 times more powerful than Steam Deck.” That is Valve’s device-level description, not an FPS multiplier that can be applied to every game or resolution. Valve’s Steam Machine documentation gives its hardware description.

Use a title-specific result with matching settings as your guide, and regard 60 FPS as a target to assess rather than a guarantee. The cited tests show outcomes ranging from below 30 FPS at 1080p Ultra in a demanding game to a 60 FPS cap at 4K in a comparatively undemanding older game. They do not establish a single percentage of all Steam Machine games that sustain 60 FPS at 1080p, 1440p, or 4K. When a game offers a choice, resolution, image quality, upscaling, and frame-rate stability are trade-offs to judge for that game and setup.
